About 10 years ago, my sister was wearing a pair of the cheap bargain flip flops and she slipped and fell down a flight of stairs that were slightly wet from the rain. She had to have surgery and had 16 metal parts put into her ankle and ended up with a bad infection. In the long run, she did not save any money since she was out of work for so long, got behind on paying her bills, and her ankle will never be the same. A bargain isn't always a bargain! I refuse to wear them!

My apartment building has a table out in the dining area of the building (this is a senior apartment building) called "the free table" where you could put out things you don't use any more on that for people to take for free....This saves everybody a ton of time,money,grief,and a ton of trips to the the store!!!! That could give you a bit of an idea....👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯

Ours is not a poor church, but neither are we in the lap of luxury. I may suggest the free table idea to our elders. Have a space where we can share unused items and anything that is unclaimed in 2-3 weeks can then be donated to a local shelter or thrift store. 🤔

Another use for witch hazel is for the other end. If you have a sore bum from being sick with diarrhea or hemorrhoids witch hazel will reduce the swelling/pain. Also worked on lady parts after child birth. It has lots of uses.
@Jaynes-Path
@Jaynes-Path 4 месяца назад
My teenagers use it on acne too. It will reduce the swelling, redness and size so the pimples will dry up and stay gone. It really helps my daughter to wash her face and to dab some on a problem area. Having a pimple free face is a extreme confidence booster during those hard years when your body seems to be fighting you with unstable hormones, sudden weight gain and growth. Kids can be so mean to each other at this age and keeping that acne to a minimum really seems to help them.

I forgot about this until you mentioned using witch hazel on your bum.Witch hazel is actually the main ingredient in the Tucks pads that they sell for hemorrhoids. They also sometimes give them to you in the hospital after you’ve had a baby to ease the pain and swelling. I have not priced them in years, but Tucks pads are much more expensive than a bottle of witch hazel and a cloth.

One random thing that saves me a surprising amount of money is that I don’t buy any pants or dresses unless they have pockets. It forces me to say no to a lot of otherwise cute clothes, but I know they ultimately won’t be practical for me and I won’t wear them as much.

I bought gowns last year from Walmart. I've worn this style for over 10 years. I liked them because they're slightly above the knee and all cotton. They changed the material and now they're a stretchy polyester which I'm not crazy about. But they redeemed themselves one day when l discovered they had slit pockets in the side seams. 🎉❤

We’re already in a recession! People that deliver the food to grocery stores know this and have known. It’s fixing to get real bad! Make sure u have bought plenty of flour, rice, sugar, salt, water, peanut butter. I own two little debbie snack cake routes. I take care of 20 major grocery chains. Please take my advice. Do not get scared. They want you to be in fear. It’s easier for them to control their narrative. God bless and everyone have a great day!

I would like to comment on the dollar flip-flops and this is not a money, saving thing, but more a charity thing. Every year I go to the bin and get at least one size of every size in there and take them to our homeless shelter. They are always in desperate need for these to give to people in the shower area so they have some thing to protect their feet. if you have any spare money, please think about doing this in your area. Thank you, Brooke for some great money saving ideas❤

My son bought a pair of those $1.00 flip flops and believe me when I say he wore them until the wheels fell off😳! I was so amazed, he put those flops on and wore them daily and I can't believe how well they stood up. He must have gotten a lucky pair but he was so upset when he finally had to throw them away 😂! He even repaired them a few times and they still did well, unbelievable 😊!

When my son, now 26, was 2 years old I'd gotten him a toy he wanted but he lost his mind when he saw a Teletubby candy toy at the checkout. It was the first time he'd ever done that. I warned him and ended up giving the toy to the cashier and said we weren't getting that today. She fussed at me and told me I needed to buy that baby his toy. I told her to mind her own business. I'm not rewarding him for showing out in the checkout line. He'd ask for stuff growing up but never showed out like that in a store again. When I became a struggling single Mom when he was 7 he learned to go through coupons and sales papers with me before I went grocery shopping. If he could match up a good coupon with a good sale price I was more than likely going to get it for him.

I don’t spend money on new plant pots…..I love to garden and do it mainly in containers if I bought pretty planters and pots all the time I would have a small fortune in it. Instead I repurpose stuff me or someone I know is throwing away like a old turtle sandbox I found on a curb with a missing lid or a old busted up metal mesh wagon we had behind the shed I just lined it with bags and filled it with dirt. I will by pots but only at garage sales or thrift shops for $1 or less. I also don’t buy potting mix it’s cheaper to buy peat moss, top soil, and perlite and mix it myself I get way more for my money that way.

Buy good shoes that will last a year or two 6. Keep your vehicle up on oil changes to last longer 7. Try to save $20 dollars or more a month 8. Shop dollar store on things that cost way more in regular stores but is the same product

1) I stopped buying my daily iced coffee from the local coffee shop. I make a pot of coffee at home and refrigerate it. I saved $5/day and then some because I often bought a bagel or breakfast sandwich too. After a year I was able to pay off my credit card. 2) I no longer pay credit card interest. I pay it off every month. 3) I never buy soda.

Oh my dear, I have used white vinegar as a fabric softener for years. It leaves the clothes smelling fresh, eliminates detergent build up and softens fabrics. People have asked me how I get my towels so soft and the answer is to wash them in cold water and use white vinegar as of rinse.. it's so inexpensive and works better than almost every other product I found. Good tips my friend!!!

Fabric softener hunks up the inside of your washer and can cause problems. I just dawn for washing and vinegary for rinsing. Dry clothes on hangers and just use drier for fluffing or at the end for certain items.

With a 3.3% GDP last year and unemployment under 4% for the past 24 straight months...why do you think that?
@LindaASJ
@LindaASJ 4 месяца назад
@@stormyweather2807 Unemployment numbers are a lie. They don’t include the people who have exited the unemployment system and still haven’t found work. The numbers also don’t include the amount of people who retired early, a lot by force, who aren’t eligible for unemployment because they signed a retirement package. The numbers don’t include the people who are just skating by doing their own hustle for cash to get by living with friends, family or in their vehicles. Unemployment numbers are what the government (either party in power) want us to see. Same with the inflation numbers. Ha! They say that inflation is going down and cheer, cheer, cheer for them. Such BS! If you double the price of an item and then take it down 10%, should we celebrate the 10% off? I think NOT.
@stormyweather2807
@stormyweather2807 4 месяца назад
@@LindaASJ those workers are captured in the BLS underemployment rate, which last I saw was between 7-8%. Pretty good considering college graduate underemployment rates are nearly 40% and skew the average. We have businesses, mostly service related, that can't open more than 3 days a week because of lack of workers. Nursing homes are struggling. When our paper mill closed suddenly, non-service job fairs popped up every other week. And if the high cost of goods is due to inflation, why are corporation's profits skyrocketing? Inflation would be affecting those profit margins as well.

Back when my kids were small, they had too many toys (generous grandparents). One day, I took paper grocery sacks into their rooms and bagged up toys. I left their favorites that they slept with and enough for them to play with, but I took 2-3 bags from each room. I wrote their names on the bags then put them in the top of my closet. A few months later we were at the store and they were begging for new toys so I told them I had a surprise at home for them. I gave them each one bag and told them they had to refill the bag with the toys they were tired of. We swapped those toy bags back and forth every few months for years and they only got new toys at Christmas and birthdays. They were happy and I never had to deal with the begging at the stores after that.

In the fall I have scarecrow and pumpkin things in the house, they can be put out the end of September and stay out til the first of December. I like small wooden things, so they do not take up much room in the storage area. A few items in a strategic place are all you need. less is more.

I just discovered your channel today so I'm sure there are many videos to catch up on. I will definitely try the vinegar in laundry and also the witch hazel. I live in the southwest where humidity sometimes is in the single digits so dry skin is common where I live.

Diluted Selsium Blue Natural shampoo is a good facial cleaner and no moisturizer is needed. Will try the witchhazel. Witchazel is good for sunburns.

I mourn the money I spent on cable or satellite tv. We waited way too long to get rid of it. I’m going with you on the blind bags. No more! We make decor out of school supplies if we put anything up. I agree with you on the rest.

I bought a pair of gray and white addidas flip flops on sale for $60 over 10 years ago. I still have them and use them when I garden. They have thick cushion and feel great! I felt horrible spending that much on flip flops...but I have gotten my money's worth for sure. Those $1 flip flops hate people.

You, talking about the facial products reminded me of something my daughter-in-law taught me. She comes from a Hispanic family and I wonder if they learned it from folks who had come from Mexico who may not have the money to buy deodorant. So, she said: put Isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab and wipe on your underarms to replace deodorant. So, I tried it and was amazed. It kept me sweat-free all day and at the end of the day, I still smelled like I did when I initially wiped my underarms with the alcohol. So, yes that original smell does smell like alcohol but, I don't mind the smell at all. And Wow what a cheap deodorant compared to my beloved Secret deodorant!

I’ve been doing this forever!! Deodorant has many toxic chemicals in it. Regular showers are a must. Alcohol kills the bacteria so you don’t need antiperspirant or deodorant.

Forbes, which is the business school I graduated from, had previously predicted a recession but has backed off because the markers on the economy just aren't there. HOWEVER, what we are all feeling in the wallet is inflation/shrinkflation at a time when corporations are reporting record profits. We're being pinched by greed.

I agree with you on the dryer sheets and fabric softener, I also use dryer balls but I only use the tumble dryer to dry towels, I dry everything else either outside or indoors on a rack. If you haven't got dryer balls, scrunched up aluminium foil works just as well. I got rid of my large double oven, why use 3 - 5KWof power to bake a casserole. I have a convention/combi oven and a couple of air fryers. I only pay for netflix, here in the uk its £10 a month. I no longer have a house phone as our mobiles have free calls and texts. We only decorate for christmas. loads of things I've done to save money and protect the environment. Great video Brooke xxx

Please do not use anything on your face or body that is petroleum based. Your body is the biggest organ and all those toxins seep into your blood stream. Use castor oil instead or even olive oil.

Excellent tips. I have a couple as well. Unplug all counter top appliances when not in use. They don't use much electricity when turned off, but they still leach a little bit. Switch to LED light bulbs. We use the daylight bulbs in the living room. A 100 watt bulb only uses 23 kilowatts of electricity. Also, turn lights off when you leave a room. Wash your car by hand instead of going to the car wash. This would be great for the boys to do, especially if you gave them a few dollars of pocket money for it. Thanks for a great video. I hope some of my tips can help you or some subscribers to save money. Recession or not, we all need to cut corners where we can. Blessings to you and your family.

I booted the ex and the satellite dish in one swift kick....lol. The only streaming service I have is for RU-vid so that your lovely videos aren't constantly interrupted and I can also stream music. Otherwise I have an antenna installed on the eave of the house. Honestly, other than budget, craft, or cooking videos, I literally never watch TV. I have one tiny bottle of cheap fabric softener from Dollar Tree in case I have something that needs a little more freshening otherwise I avoid that stuff like the plague. You always walk buy these men who smell like a bouquet of flowers because their wives do laundry with heavy scented soap, scent beads, softener, and dryer sheets. Vinegar works if you have to have something. Homemade laundry soap is another thing...but "the guy" looked at me like my hair was on fire when I mentioned it.

I use very little of the cheapest laundry detergent when on sale. A bottle of cheap shampoo lasts about a year. I water down conditioner. We use bar soap. 3 of us live in a 2BR apartment (we own) near Chicago. My kids are 50, 47, and 43. The kids (and grandkids) never got lots of toys. They played outside when weather was good. My kids (and grandkids) got used toys and clothes. Most people have too much stuff. My daughters-in-law were raised the same way. Tina, Al's wife

We do a lot of these, too! I did buy my kids Lego, and that’s a lot of tiny pieces, but we had a system. They were played with in only one spot (living room carpet) got picked up before anyone stepped on them. Door decor: about ten years ago I bought two (for two doors) flat sheet metal star wreaths for winter and two leaf ones for summer. They weren’t very cheap, but they look exactly as they did when I got them. I’m planning on them lasting until I’m dead, and the durability mitigates any boredom I might think of feeling from having only these. For the win!

Hi 👋🏽 all! 2 things I wanted to add. Fabric softener is terrible for towels- makes them less absorbent. As a black woman I do need lotion but honestly for my face I just use ponds or oil of Olay- whichever is on sale and lasts a long time! Love your channel! 🎉

Brooke, I do not use face/body skin care products either... 99% of the time. But I have this issue every 3-4 of years, where my T-zone gets EXTRA dry and flaky. I will try the Witch hazel just to try it, but I found something 25 years ago that zapps my face and makes everything better in just a couple of days. Twenty years ago I thought this was extremely expensive. By Estee Lauder, it's called Revitalizing Supreme Anti Aging Cell Power Creme, and it cost me $65 for like 4 oz back then. I only bought it because my face was so dry. Yes, it took out of my budget back then, but that 4 oz lasted me 14 years! When I finally scraped the bottom of the jar and went to look for more at Dillards where I purchased the 2nd jar, it was a whopping $95! I bought it again because it lasted me so long before. I was 39 then and my daughter was 4. I figured by the time my second jar was gone, I would be in my 50's and probably not care anymore about that dry skin problem. But the second jar only lasted me 5 years. The reason? My then 8 y/o started digging into my stuff and saw a face cream and decided to use up over half the jar on her face! At 44, I decided that I wasn't going to replace it, but yes, my girl got a good talking to! It just so happened after that, I never had that problem again where dry skin on my face was a problem. It was at that point that I started using 100% spf sunscreen in the summer. So I guess I wanted to say that younger people who want to have golden skin? Use sunscreen!
