This ran the 5 foot brush hog with no struggle, only issue was it was tough to lift it high off the ground. This was due to the fact that the brush hog used to be on a much larger tractor and the welds/holes for the 3 point hitch are made for that larger tractor
I’m interested in getting a compact tractor, have always been partial to John Deere (always owned a Deere lawn tractor, though nothing near a 2 series) have you had a 1 series? I only have 2 1/2 acres, but the bucket and rear pto would come in handy. I was thinking a 700 series diesel garden tractor but a 1 series is not much more. The local JD dealer has a package deal for trailer, front bucket, mid mount mower on a 1 series for $21k. I just started looking/pricing, it doesn’t seem to far off from any other dealers. Never fails, anytime I buy something, there’s a huge sale on it a week later lol.
I bought the 2025r because I thought I needed the extra ground clearance… but I don’t. I would have be fine with a 1025r. 1025r’s are much more balanced in my opinion. They aren’t too heavy like the 2025r. You do lose 3 point hitch lift capacity with the 1025r, that’s about it. I don’t think I’d be able to run this 5 foot brush hog with the 1025r just because I wouldn’t be able to lift it at all. John Deere has some good financing on NEW tractors. If you need the trailer that may be the way to go. I would not buy a used one from them because you don’t get 0% financing. Check out Facebook marketplace, there are a lot of good 1025r tractors for sale that you might be able to get significantly cheaper!
