Starting with over-production, the anti-Just-in-time waste, all the others follow, ending with the 8-th waste of lost human potential and engagement, as the accumulated result of the others.
This is how the weaknesses of the company impair the ability to do great work by workers, regardless of how willing they may be to "make it a great day" as the current saying goes.
In reality, a great day at work is the result of a system of production that is continually improved upon so that it is most effective and efficient.
By system of production I mean the collection of methods, equipment, material, data, regulations, and personnel which interact daily across company functions to serve the needs of its customers.

Very effective diagram of showing how the 8 wastes can be inter-related.
@JamesBehn-pl4li
Very interesting video defining the 8 LEAN wastes and why overproduction is the worst of the 8 lean wastes. In the video it shows how overproduction can encompass all the other 7 lean wastes.

This video and the diagram you drew helped me to understand the 8 wastes at a deeper level than I reached in class during our group activity.

Unique way to look at the 7 forms of waste and how they tie into one another more often than not

This is a clear example of why over production is deemed the worst waste. It leads to excessive inventory that is unsalable, increased material handling (transportation, motion), increased labor (wasted human skill), etc. This is a great demostration of how the 8 wastes are interconnected.

The thing that stood out the most for me is thinking about our everyday operations and how this explanation of such significant wastes makes you realize of all the potential that is not being recognized. All while staring you in the face. Especially after watching this video.

Very clearly explains how one action, ie: over-production, can ripple through and negatively impact an organization.

I appreciate how this video shows that all the wastes are connected. Before watching, I only saw them as separate types and now I see that they're connected but also that it's an easy fix by focusing on eliminating over-production (if you can).

It’s encouraging to think that companies are considering the waste of Human skill especially the loss of skill and learning opportunity in addition to the other wastes!

This is the best way I’ve seen the 8 wastes of lean presented. So interesting to see how one triggers the other and creates a snowball effect. Thank you for sharing this!

I appreciated Francisco's explanation of the violation of over-production of just-in-time methodology. This has helped to clarify that excess production is drastically more harmful than simply having more of a product than the necessary required amount and how it is closely tied to the other sources of waste. Francisco is highly skilled in using simple visual illustrations to explain complex ideas--bravo!

Thanks for such a detail explanation of 8 LEAN Wastes. The diagram you drew really helped me to visualize the inter-connectivity of the 8 LEAN wastes.

This was a good visual representation of cause-and-effect and nterconnectedness of the 8 wastes. The visual reminded me of a mind map.

I like how it was displayed that all of the wastes were in connection with Human Skill and over production. Francisco mapped out very clearly the different processes of waste and how they are intertwined.

This video is a clear indicator of the many factors that foster over production and the other subsequent wastes driven as a result of it.

I appreciate the way this was explained as a system of waste rather than individual silos of waste.
@Jaguzma2
I liked how the eight types of waste started in over production. Prior to this, I saw as each waste as a separate incident. It was good to see how everything is related and how everything is generated by another waste and how it's all connected. All the wastes lead to human skill. I appreciate how TIM WOODS takes into consideration the value of human skill, and how unused potential from an individual is a form of waste.

I do love the way it is explained and the way you have shown how everything we do is interconnected. It sheds light on how much impact waste in one process can have an effect on another. So "ah it is just one step in the process it doesn't matter" truly dose not cut it. Every step matters....

It is important to see how each kind of waste doesn't happen in a silo and that each waste contributes to others. Over production being a waste that is particularly harmful is good to note, and this video helped make that clear.
