The best stabilizing of your rifle with a sling, is what I learned in the military while in basic training. Just wrap it around your forearm and it fits snug and tight. That's how I've trained my Daughter and Grand Children to stabilize their rifle's.
Just got MS3 for the Brigade 9 carbine I picked up . Video was very helpful. Accident in 2010 , many back surgeries, sling does help steady my rifle . 🍺🍀comfortable and easy to transition
So glad to help! Having had one of those QD connections pop on me, I appreciate that Paraclip design Magpul put together. I hope we see more drive from manufacturers to continue improving sling connections.👍
I wish Magpul would take the MS1 padded sling and add the MS4 QDM attachments to it and sell it as a whole. I would definitely buy one. And I don't think Magpul would be too upset adding another sling configuration to the already abundant sling lineup. Come on Magpul Add another.
On the noisy swivel I put some black rubber Tape on the ring.it takes care of the sound pretty good.great vide0.have all the magpul slings..all are great Savvy sniper slings are great too..
Have been using MS4 on duty for at least 4 years and it’s still does its job no problem. It’s not perfect and have some things i don’t like such as no padding(i fix it by installing a padding from other sling) and using the adjusting buckle is not as easy as it supposed to be and also it’s quite expensive here, the price is around 110$ here in my country
I really like most of the accessories in Magpuls lineup. I have the MS3 gen2(paraclip),which does have rock solid attachment,I most often run 2 point, but having the ability to switch doesn't hurt. To help keep rattle to a minimum,I've used elastic tubular nylon or a piece of bicycle tube over the paraclip where it snaps on the ASAP plate. I also have a D ring at the buttplate end of my buttstock. A couple years ago they released the MOE K2-XL grip & since most people hate the A2 grip,I put them on all my AR's & my RPR,they're about 20% bigger than standard grips & it doesn't feel like I'm trying to control my rifle w/a toothbrush handle. Admittedly I do use the BCM MOD3 stubby vert grip on my handguard,& that's pretty awesome too.
The ms3 sling is the one I prefer over any other. I prefer the paraclip attachments over the sling swivel ends. I already have qd swivels and qd sling attachments, so the paraclip ms3 sling is all I need and I love it. I have two of them
I have a box full of slings, some i paid way to much for and hated every single one of them. The only thing i didn't like on the magpul was the quick slide adjustment. It sucks, but i fixed that by drilling a hole through the slide and using 550 cord and some heat shrink and now I can make adjustments with ease. After that little diy mod they are now my favorite sling and have them on all my rifles and pistol carbines.
@jakeh6980 the plastic slide that loosens or shortens the length. Drilled a hole through the plastic and made a pull cord like the vtac and vickers sling. Only cheaper. I run them on all my rifles now
Thank you for this video! It was a nice and clear video, easy for "me" to understand and it really helped me out :) Now, I just need to wait for everything to arrive at my door that I ordered including the brand new AR that I had to buy online just so I had something to attach my new Magpul MS3 Single QD Gen 2 Sling to!!
@@stevenfriedman2902 Personally, I like the Maclean Sling. But if you are new, I would go with the Magpul or Vickers slings. It all depends on how you are going to carry your rifle and how you will employ your rifle. Slings on rifles are like holsters for pistols. Lots of options, and each sling you get has pros and cons. You have to determine what you are willing to sacrifice in terms of ease of use, durability etc. Hope this helps. Also “Thinline Defense has a good review on the Maclean sling.
@@Viperjjr yea I was thinking just whatever works since it's an AR pistol I'm just going to be using for home defense at most other than the range to practice
The infantry equipment is awesome today compare to what i had back in the day am not a gun or equipment snob I used to used 550 cord as sling in desert storm with duck tape . Too many ridiculous things is a sling at the end of the day
I’ve had a QD swivel pop loose on me once during a training class. Something mad it’s way into the QD cup and when I connected the sling, gave a slight pull then dropped the rifle on my back. It fell right to the ground. Noice. I use clips now. I make my own attachment points using wire cable with a couple layers of shrink tubing over it.m
I've abandoned all QD attachments on the grounds that they're just too loud. I've instead been making scaled down off-road style soft shackles out of paracord. They're cheap, quiet, easy to manipulate, take up almost zero mounting real estate and can withstand more force than you could ever put on your rifle.
Y’all need to make one where its paraclip at the first attachment point. Because let’s be honest no one is going to move that. And the. QDM at the second point.
Temu has some very nice 2 point slings with the hardware for just 8 dollars. The quality is good and resembles magpul slings but without the brand logo 😂
Magpul makes a lotta cool stuff but I find them very confusing, I just use the Blue Force VICKERS sling, put it on and forget about it dont need all these extra do dads
Right!! I ordered a cheap ms4 sling off of eBay and it's been fine yet when I got a Magpul one it came with the Magpul ms1 and the ms4 connector to make it work instead of it just being one sling. It even says ms1 on sling and ms4 on adaptor. Very confusing
Absolutely! I think the main "turn-off" for some about the MS1 are the standard webbing loops and sling swivels you'll use to attach it to your shooter. If you're not planning on taking it off/on a whole lot, the MS1 is decent cost and as quality as the rest of the line-up.
you know I have to say this why the heck does a sling cost so much I mean the prices they ask for slings is honestly highway robbery along with the qd's as well as some other accessories for MSR's
What material are the slings made of? I'm assuming, some kind of plastic, or some other petroleum product. I prefer cotton. It feels good to the skin, and it doesn't BURN. Plastic not only burns on its own (once started), but also melts onto your skin & clothing, while continuing to burn. Yes, I know; cotton rots & holds moisture. But that won't burn your skin off. Hopefully, your slings have a flame retardant and/or melting retardant treatment.
You can, but you'll have to pull the QD mounts off. Not too bad though, as you'll now have a reason for a new stock and hanguard QD attachments in the future!
Hmmm... I wouldn't say that this is a "standard issue" item at those levels of military operations, so it would be very difficult to point to "one" for various missions and gear requirements. I will say, slings were a personal choice for me...depending on the type of unit stationed with at the time & how well I could sweet talk my command. 😅 -Randy
It's actually the same length as the rest of them (adjustable between roughly 48" to 60"). For what it's worth, we run the MS4 on our 8.1" .300bo pistol. As a guy who's built with a "powerful" smaller frame 🤣 ... versus our 6'4" lanky warehouse manager, we both are fully capable of manipulating between those lengths without issue. Hope that helps!
Yes, they should be a universal fit for all QD mounts. Where guys run into issues is Cerakoted parts, where the extra thickness inside the QD mount creates a less reliable connection.
forreal.. Im still going to get one but I dont need all that extra stuff that puts it in the $70-90 range. A basic 2 point without all the qd bullshit will do
@@stevenfriedman2902 its not even that they'll malfunction they can sometimes just get pinned by a object then release. cheap Qds can definitely be the wrong size and may fail. you can always just use cord as either a main attachment or back up but then you lose the benefit of a Qd. run whatever gives you the confidence for the task youre after.
Don’t buy it! Just bought an MS4 GEN2 QD. Opened it and the single point adapter accepts the Qd on one side but not on the other side (would not go all the way in) Store won’t allow a refund or exchange because it was opened and does not work. So Magpul will give me a return authorization and I can mail it back and then wait for processing and a return to me ( which it shows out of stock on the website) So that could take a while. I would have expected Magpul to just apologize and send the small piece I need, but instead they want me to go through this hassle for what to them is probably a $5 part. Being as I need this for training right away, I can’t wait on it so was forced to go and spend another $25 for the piece I need to actually use this $70 sling. Of course things happen, nothing is perfect all the time, but it’s how you handle it for a paying customer that will tell you all you need to know about a company. Lesson learned, I know what to expect from Magpul and won’t do it again.
SORRY!!!!!! 😂 No really, thanks for calling out these things. We're running and gunning so fast around here sometimes we miss a detail here and there. -Randy
