Thanks for the quality informative videos. I've been a fan of your simple, durable, US-made hardware for years, and plan to be a customer for life. A personal note, while I started using QD socket attachments for all my slings, I'm now leaning toward the paraclip hooks instead, for several reasons: 1) They have less small moving parts that could fail, and if a part does break or wear out you can see it immediately (this also makes them cheaper); 2) Theres no hole that can be fouled with dirt, sand, or lint making your attachment inoperable, and it's also less prone to false attachment where it looks like it's secure but the bearings aren't actually engaged in the slots; 3) If your sling breaks, you can connect a strap or cord to a paraclip ring with almost any method imaginable, whether its a shoelace, fabric strip, zip tie, or duct tape. This simplicity and versatility was preferred by a Navy Seal whose video I watched recently, who explained that when they're deploying into water or crawling along a beach at night, he wouldn't trust a QD socket, but clip hardware with zipties for extra security would likely survive any scenario he'd encounter. I think QD's have a place for light duty range guns or beginners who just want to use the sockets built into their gun, but more heavy-duty use cases might favor a hook setup.
I have an acs-l stock on my ar. After investigating, I found i needed a type 3 qd mount. They are out of stock everywhere and some sites say its been discontinued. I contacted magpul and explained my situation. They said they would send the type 3 to me at no cost. Before I received anything, I checked the box that my acs-l came in and don't you know I found a type 3 in the box! I attached it to my stock and it works fine. I got the package from magpul a couple of days later and they sent me not one, not two, not three, but FOUR type 3 mounts! That's what I call great customer service. I purchased a ms-4 gen 2 sling and it's the best sling I've owned.
Crap, I’ve been doing it wrong for years. Shoulda watched this video 5-6 years ago. Never knew the Hunter 700 could take QD’s through those plugs! Good job Magpul!
Are the current line up of magpul stocks just including qd sockets standard like most manufactures or is this magpuls way of just milking money off the consumer?
@@Shmingming Huh?! No, it's not. You definitely don't want it rotating when used like that. And stock sling mount on the right side of the rifle (for a righty) IS how a two-point adjustable sling should be used...
I got the cheap one with no mounting system and ordered cheap QD mounts from Amazon for like 5 bucks and it's good to go. They are made of steel and there doesn't seem to be much that can go wrong. I plugged them in and yanked hard on them a few times and they held up just fine. I did see a few people in the reviews who said theirs did not stay in but most of the reviews were good so I took a chance on it.
Great review. I have a CZ scorpion evo3 S1 (European edition) and I am lost as to what fitting mechanism I can use to fit a sling, could you please advise. Thank you
Why not just mold QD cups into all your stocks like EVERY OTHER MANUFACTURER? Who wants to buy a bunch of hardware that costs as much as the stock just to get the same functionalist we can get from everyone else?
I disagree that placing the front sling attachment on the forearm of a pump shotgun is a bad idea. Indeed, I've seen people with barrel/magazine mounted slings (the front end of which is stationary in relation to the pump forearm) that grab the sling along with the forearm and are then unable to work the action. Placing the front sling attachment on the forearm itself solves this issue and also does away with the issues you mentioned with barrel/magazine mounts like over-tightening and slug POI shifts. I've also found that those barrel clamp things never quite stay put if you shoot enough; MLOK doesn't have that problem.
I took the one that has two screw holes on it, I think it was M-Loc and held it on the side of a basic M4 style stock and marked the holes with a sharpie and then drilled two holes. Then I used Allen head screws and nuts and bolted it on there. I had to do a little modding on the piece with a dremel but it was pretty easy and it looks factory. If you're not good at doing things then you might not want to try it. But if you are somewhat mechanically inclined it's not hard to make it work.
Don’t buy it! Just bought an MS4 GEN2 QD sling from you. Opened it and the single point adapter accepts the Qd on one side but not on the other side (would not go all the way in) Store won’t allow a refund or exchange because it was opened and does not work. So Magpul will give me a return authorization and I can mail it back and then wait for processing and a return to me ( which it shows out of stock on the website) So that could take a while. I would have expected Magpul to just apologize and send the small piece I need, but instead they want me to go through this hassle for what to them is probably a $5 part. Being as I need this for training right away, I can’t wait on it so was forced to go and spend another $25 for the piece I need to actually use this $70 sling. Of course things happen, nothing is perfect all the time, but it’s how you handle it for a paying customer that will tell you all you need to know about a company. Lesson learned, I know what to expect from Magpul and won’t do it again.
