I understand that doesn't sound like a lot but it's good to finally hear a story that doesn't end badly like if he became a criminal or died. It's not an extraordinary story but sometimes just having a simple happy story is good enough.
I loved the house hippo. I was scared shitless of them for so long until my grandmother explained that they didn't exist. It's ironic to think that commercial was intended for youth to think before they see whats on TV
Yeah, my grandmother asked why I was looking in all the closets. I told her I was looking for house hippos. She's not an English speaker, so I don't think she understood and helped me look for these "house hippos" the tv saw.

I moved from Surrey BC to Seattle WA when I was 10 in 06’. I miss waking up super early to watch YTV or Teletoon. Anyone remember that if you were up around 6am the Canadian anthem would play on YTV?

It's a warm, beautiful day and you just got home from school. You throw your bag off as your mom yells at you to clean your hands. You grab a few slices of kraft singles and some crackers. With your gameboy you sit down on the carpet in front of the tv and flip it on. Seems only like yesterday, but I feel like the sky was more blue and the grass more green back then.
I like how they were trying to warn against false advertising but the ad about the house hippo only made me think house hippos were real for many years.
The concerned children advertisers were doing Gods work looking out for the youth. Kids growing up today are constantly brainwashed with propaganda. I can’t describe how much I appreciate growing up in the 2000s
its pretty clear that a lot of countries or states didnt have things like concerned childrens advertisers growing up. we were taught from a young age, the fundemental idea that not everything you see on TV, (or read in a book, or see on the internet) is real. that message never transferred to most.
