I didn’t realize how important a light was until I didn’t have one. 😂 all our others had lights.

I wonder if a rechargeable motion sensor light attached in the area to light the opening would work? How could Samsung not follow that light norm? My Kenmore elite has a light that is only on by a switch on the panel above the opening and where you can select cube or crushed ice! Water and ice have their own lever on mine! I was looking at this at either 12 month same as cash on Amazon card or Samsung financing. I'm glad you put this video up as there are too many Samsung nay sayers out there! Even the local fridge tech that charged me $96 to replace a motor relay on my 25 year old Kenmore side by side and he said stay away from Samsung fridges! I am told it could last another 25 years or die tomorrow! So I am looking at this! I have a Samsung smart TV and a Washer and a 4K blu-ray and a Galaxy S20 Ultra! So I for the most part have had good experiences with Samsung! Good luck with yours!

@@A4orce84 funny thing is, we sold the home we built with this fridge. We built another home in Florida and wouldn’t you know it had the same fridge! So! As far as long term updates go- Negatives are: no light in the ice maker/water dispenser area and ice maker output can’t keep up with our (my wife’s) consumption rate :) I’d probably buy it again though :)

@@Elquesofresco2021 that’s got to be a manufacturer defect.

There has been a few times when this has happened.

After 18 months, our ice chute started constantly getting trapped. We clear it and the next day it's trapped again. And you can't manually get to the ice. You have to take it apart out of the door each time to get to the ice which causes ice to get all over your floor. Very poor design. Wish we had chose another model.

Fortunately, we have never had that issue with this icemaker/refrigerator. But I certainly understand frustration when it comes to a situation like that. Appliances cost way too much for them not to work as they are designed to do. So far we haven’t had really any issues with this unit as a whole. I just wish it had a light in the water and ice dispenser area.

Hmmm. Interesting. What is your fridge temp set to? How long have you had your fridge? This might be a warranty repair or maybe your temp just needs adjustment.

I’m having the same issue. What’s the best settings or default settings

@@tammiejames7037 mine came defaulted to 0 for freezer and 34 for fridge. So far no issues

I’d say that if you have more than two people then it will be challenging to keep ice when you have everyone at home at the same time or if you are having a big dinner.

This wouldn't be a good refrigerator if you need a lot of ice

@@HB-CL-TX no debate. We have a stand alone ice maker also

Still to this day this fridge has been the answer for our space needs. Yes. Not having a light has been disappointing but overall the fridge has performed well. At this point if I had to point a negative it would be the ice maker can’t keep up with the demand we put on it :) we use it faster than it would want to produce.

thats a relief, just wish others fridges are just as good as yours, i feel for them@@edandg

Sounds like you might need to have it looked at by a technician. Is it still under warranty?

I don’t recall the freezer defrosting by itself. And we have purchased a new home and the funny thing is the very same refrigerator came with the new home and so we still have the same model and the fact still remains that our greatest dislike about this refrigerator is that it does not have, a light on the water dispenser and the icemaker cannot make enough ice to keep up with our consumption

I’ll do it next time. We’re buying another new construction house and this same model fridge comes with the house! :)

Seems like it took about 24 hrs before the ice started to accumulate. If it takes longer then you should probably call customer support.

According to the energy guide about $87 per year.

@@edandg Well I did call - they sent a repair person and his answer to my ice maker constantly crunching ice until it jammed up completely was that I had too much food in the freezer! The vents are clear of any items. It also makes such a loud knocking sound coming from the back. LOUD... Now, there is frost forming under shelves in freezer and ice maker still is giving crushed ice and very, very slow working. Should be jamming up again any day now. Only 9 months old! Air vents barely have any air flow. What a ridiculous excuse. You purchase a new Samsung and they brag about the capacity yet service tells you to get rid of the food because you have too much! Trying to tell me the air can't get to the ice maker. Time for another call to Samsung.

I would say that if it is affecting the temperature of either the freezer or fridge you should call customer service. Or if you smell anything electrical

@@edandg: Thank you for responding back to me so quickly. The panel in between both doors when you open it is hot. Hot to the touch my son got burns from touching the panel with his fingers. Thank gosh I have a warranty. I will call them. Thanks so much. Love your videos by the way.

Yes! It is still the right fridge for us! The only issue is that there is no light on the water dispenser area. Also we did buy a separate ice machine simply because G likes ice so much that no built in ice dispenser be able to keep up!:)

@@Stich99-77 yes! No issues mechanically. And it still meets our needs. The ice making capabilities are probably not sufficient for someone who consumes a lot of ice. In fact we do own a stand alone ice maker. Lol.

@@edandg that’s good news! We are used to having no ice maker or water dispenser, so this is an upgrade for us even if it’s not much ice haha. I’ll just buy a few ice cube trays for when we need extra.
