This video reflects my experience being on a Canadian Working-Holiday Visa in New Zealand during the Covid pandemic.
THE BAD
1. Finding Long-Term Housing Can Be Difficult
2. Absence Of High Paying Jobs
3. Skiing/Snowboarding Is An Expensive Activity
4. Heaps Of Surrounding Beauty, But Culture Is Lacking
THE GOOD
1. Plenty Of Hospo, Accomodation, Tourism Related Work Which Can Lead To Sponsored Work Visas
2. Best Drink Deals In New Zealand
3. International Community Of Backpackers
4. Summers Not Too Hot, Winters Not Too Cold

I'm in Queenstown right now and even though minimum wage is $21.20 an hour, employers are paying at least $25 an hour pretty much everywhere. It is reasonably easy to find jobs offering $27-$30 an hour.

Hi ! I'll be in Queenstown in few days for the winter season and I am struggling to find a job. Would you mind giving me some recommendations ? Thank you by advance.

@@oussoumanediallo3676i will be doing the same in June! Where did you find accommodation?? Rent is through the roof everywhere

Māori particularly only settled the North Island first because it was warmer, therefore they travelled to & from the South Island for resources and everything. That is one reason why you don't really see Māori people & infrastructure down there, the majority of the 800+ maraes are scattered across the North.

Hi ! Thank you so much for this video. Do you know if it's easy to find a job in Queenstown ? Is the winter a good season to work in hospitality?

I can't speak for the current state of the job market in QT as I was living there during lockdown. Winter would be a good time to work hospitality as there will be a surge in tourists during that time, however the bigger issue Isn't jobs but more accomodation. I would focus first on finding a place to live before committing to a job.

Hi Mark. I'm a digital nomad and I am thinking of spending 3 months in NZ. Which city do you think is best for a digital nomad. I would like to meet other nomads, explore the area, go hiking, join a coworking space, and find an affordable room to stay in (up to 250$). Thanks

Off the top of my head Queenstown comes to mind with respect to proximity of good hikes and places to explore. There was a co-working space in town where one of my friends would work out of (she was an Aussie working remote). The real issue at the moment is the lack of available accomodation. If you can't find a room to rent, you can start out long-terming at a hostel and continue searching until something comes up. Good luck!

I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia do you think which one is better to works as working holiday visa ?. Wellington Or Queenstown
@MarkRobles

In terms of work, I can only recommend Queenstown if you're looking for something related to: hospitality, accomodation, or tourism. Wellington is a small city with more variety industry-wise. You can always do both and experience life in 2 very different places for a couple of months.
