Its like Winston Churchill said: any one young is wrong to be conservative and any one old is a fool to take chances. Its just how things go: one direction. Eric's old, tired and restlng on the laurels. Plus greedy.
dude what? they’re literally selling knives in k390 for like $150, magnacut para 3s, native 5s, and manix 2s for under $180, the full g10 and linered spy27 manix for $180, they’re coming out with a rex121 (the HIGHEST edge retention steel available on a knife) sage 5 LW for $250, they expanded their cruwear and micarta line to all the flagship models… etc they’re literally doing exactly what their customer base has asked.
I’m a lefty, I’ve got cme’s on all of my compression lock Spydercos. Wouldn’t carry them without them. They go from nah, I’m good to my most carried knives with them on.
Spyderco better start listening to their customers again instead of trying to squeeze every penny out of them. They are going to end up in the same boat as Benchmade if they don't.
😑scary talk! But this bundle of knives, shows that they are doing just that, listening to their customers. Maybe with the exception of their Chiner, budget entry level knife, is probably what you’re referring to? And if so, that’s quite silly of you to say, about a company who’s been killing it for over 40 years, and are quite frankly, the best in the game, for all of the important reasons. Yes, I’ll simp for them. I bought my first Spyderco, in 1996! Fully serrated delica, for like 30 or 40 bucks
There will be a price point that gets silly for all but loaded folks with 50 knives... that said love the company.. first one was in 93.... i remember greatest thing I had seen then
The richlite scales are awesome the only thing that would make them better would be if they were deep red/burgundy to match what-im-assuming is a St Nicks knives colorway
I am customizing my Manix 2 XL Cruware now. Already added your Ball Cage Spring and Ceramic Ball. Deciding on scales now. AWT mat be my choice, but some great options out their. It was absolutely sharp AF.
That first tenacious looks like the ano you did on my tenacious before you did the awesome laser etching..and then of course we lasered the phrases on both sides of the blade. I still love that knife! Thanks brotha. Great content Justin, keep it coming good sir.
A Delica in K390 is the sharpest out of the box i have ever experienced. Still is wicked after so much use i have put it through. A bit toothy, though.
I swapped the ball cage out of my crucarta Manix 2 for a Flytanium Ti one, and the blade went perfectly center once I reassembled it. IDK why or how, but I'm not going to argue with it. It also came slightly off center from factory favoring the clip side.
Those scales thoooooo!!!!! You’re getting better and better with each project which is no shocker to me! Side note a Brotha needs a work Mat so let’s talk my man!!😂
I liked the look of new scales you made, but clearly, they messed up the knife, causing it to not cut the packaging in a straight line! So, no thanks! Unless you could make them in blue, that would fix the issue! Just kidding. I am in a desperate need of replacement scales for my Manix 2 LW SPY27. Hopefully in blue, to match the original.
The new scales on that 4v Manix 2 have a very similar pattern as aftermarket Cerebus G10 scales I got for my PM2 DLC coated XHP Wharncliffe blade from Cutlery Shoppe around fall/winter 2023. Except they're orange to match the Cutlery Shoppe exclusive color scheme. I got the Cerebus honeycomb pattern scales because they have a chamfered edge on the scales instead of the hard edge of the stock scales. even the later version of a Para 3 in S45vn has slightly more rounded edges on the G10 scales compared to the scales I've seen on PM2 knives. Was that the Manix 2 lightweight from St. Nicks knives that you put the handsome hex pattern scales on? they're the one place I know that likes to get their exclusives from Spyderco in CPM 4v steel. I remember that the 4v manix 2 LW from St. Nicks Knives sold out in just hours. Since I have a Rex 45 stormtrooper Manix2 LW that works so well already, I have not used the St. Nicks I was lucky enough to snag by sneaking away to order when they dropped while at work.
Tenacious has always been a value, Start out here model. I think this helps people who want a titanium Spyderco get one for under 150 bucks. Now you have a warranty and titanium at a value price. I think it’s a homerun. Plus if you want it bronze take it apart and etch off the blue pick whatever ti color you want. I am waiting for 95v green for some to do.
@@roady7420 Right! Not to mention that, if we’re actually being honest with ourselves here, Spydercos 8CR13mov is nothing to laugh at! It’s been shown, time and again, to be quite good. I’ll take it over D2
These look great. I don't know if Spyderco grades knives of the same model, giving retailers a deal on knives that aren't the best from the production line. I bought a Crucarta Para 3, and the micarta was just awful. Looked nothing like the two you showed here. The texture was sanded down as if they were trying to grind out imperfections on the scales.
Yeah I feel like anyone who would really appreciate a titanium handle wouldn't really enjoy that steel at all they should've charged maybe like $20 more or so and had an s30v blade or something like that
@@lordquenntillieusiii9250 IKR? Considering they do make those in s35vn already, putting 8cr on a ti-handled knife seems one of the biggest head scratcher decisions I've seen them make
Had the Cru-carta Manix 2 for a couple weeks now. Loving it even though the scales are mismatched ( one side is chocolate brown and the other is reddish with a larger weave ). Can you tell me what the numbers next to the logo on your blades mean..?
Those are collector club numbers. You need to be a collector club member and commit to buying a certain amount every year. They number the standard model like this 006 and a variant like this 006V the V stands for variant and the number itself is your collector number. I had collector number #002 and #015 and #017 for awhile. I've been in the game since late 90s early 2000s. If you have other questions comment back. ✌️
I love spyderco… but their designs are tired and they don’t do anything exciting anymore plus I can buy an s90v and full ti frame lock for the same price as a g10 and s30? So I collect old spydercos but I’m not interested in the new ones accept the paysan it’s the only model I want made in the last several years
It’s just unfortunate that all these beautiful knives are outsourced and manufactured in CHINA!!!!! Idc what materials or how nice it is I’m not giving China any more of my money than I’m already forced to
Very knice unboxing of some ultra sharp Spydies...as for your new scales for the Manix 2 LW, I dig 'em. However, some of us with a hand size in between bear paws like yours and little bitch hands might prefer the size and shape of the skinny scales as offered by AWT. The hexagon milling on yours is okay but not in love with it. For me, I would prefer maybe dragon scale milling or a diamond plate texturing. Or possibly some sort of radial/wavy/starburst sort of pattern. I'm sure you could think of and produce many different finishes, colors and materials. As they say, the sky's the limit.
I don’t get the MJ reference but ok. The “Tenashy” as you put is just my way of referring to the Tenacious in plural. Since there were two in the package. Enlighten me with your knowledge and tell me a better way. I’m always up for learning new things! Thanks for watching.
