So helpful as I’m thinking so rigidly about what pathways are available from studying counselling but this has made me more open minded about what other careers might be just as fulfilling other than becoming a therapist!

Is it realistic to want to have a research assistant as a full time job? Are there noticable advancements in the career if I am educated with masters?

Hi Tomáš, it is realistic. From what I've seen, the job roles tend to be contracted (anything from 3 months to 3 years), so it's likely that you may have to find a new job often but there are some full time permanent roles especially within universities. In terms of experience, some of them expect you to have PhDs and some don't, as long as your degree had a lot research elements, they'll accept you. If you don't have sufficient research experience, you could do a research diploma. I would recommend looking at some research assistant job descriptions and see what they're looking for.
