Depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and addictive behaviors are some examples of mental disorders, which affect your mood, thinking, and behavior for a sustained period of time. The stigma around mental health can sometimes make people afraid to reach out for help or support. Do you often feel detached, tired, uninterested, insomnic, or hypersomic, lost of appetite, or sucidal? These could be some signs that you or someone you know might be dealing with mental health problems.
Know someone who is battling mental health problems but not sure what to do? We covered that in another video: • 7 Things to Say to Som...

i’ve dealt with mental health issues for almost a decade now, since i was 13 and it peaked when i had suicidal thoughts and attempted at 17. fast forward 5 years i’ve been okay-ish up until 6 months ago. i’m now in the darkest, lowest, and most difficult point in my life thus far. i won’t go into too much detail, but i’ve been struggling really bad. being an adult with mental health issues is a god damn nightmare, especially when you’re dealing with severe heartbreak, financial loss, family issues and live in a toxic environment that just exacerbates your illness. i’m a hot mess rn, and these videos are hitting close to home. i have a few good online friends that are there for me when they’re able to be, but we’re all in our early-mid 20s so they’re usually very busy. no one in real life has bothered to reach out to me, despite me always checking on them and giving them advice and shit when they need a shoulder to cry on. i’m just tired of being tired, tired of being strong, tired of the same old cliché “it’ll get better” “hang in there” like yeah, i know, but we’re in the present, not the future. if i wanted basic ass recycled quotes i’d go on pinterest, but i digress. lmao anyway, all that to say- thanks Psych2Go for all that you do. you’re brilliant and help millions of people go through everyday life. everyday is a battle for me, a battle i’ve been dealing with for a decade that has somehow gotten even worse in the past few months, this month especially. i’m still going to keep trudging on though, one day at a time. i hope anyone reading this knows they aren’t alone. my suicidal thoughts, although passive, are back and that scares me. i really didn’t wanna fall back into this hole, but life is unpredictable. please, reach out for help if you can, and if you don’t necessarily suffer from mental health issues pleaseee check on your friends. it’s very hard for all of us right now, but coupled with sickness it’s unbearable. i don’t want to leave this earth just yet, but i also cannot handle feeling like this. for legal reasons, i am safe lol but i feel like people sugarcoat these things, and that’s not healthy. it’s a dark, horrible place to be in and people need to realise that or it’ll never get taken seriously by people who don’t understand mental illness. it’s just as valid as any physical ailment. however, these comments show how none of us are truly alone, even if it feels that way. one day at a time is what i tell myself, sometimes one hour at a time. life is hard, but we don’t have to go through it alone. this was way longer than intended, i guess i just needed to vent haha. my points still stand. all of you are loved, deeply, even if you don’t believe it. the pain is temporary, everything is temporary. take that how you will. much love xx ❤️❤️

There's a trick that helps me, it might help you. If I cook and eat spinach from the stove once a day for 2 weeks, dumping turmeric and cinnomon in it, I feel better. I'm not sure why this is, but all 3 ingredients are great for brain health, so maybe that's it? I know, it sounds made-up, but it works for me. I'm sorry I can't help more as a stranger on the internet, but things get better. I was a complete mess until around 5 years ago, and then my brain chemistry changed or something and now most days are decent. Not all, and I went through a VERY dark mindset about 6 weeks ago. Made it through, though.

@@michaelwellen2866 I also want to add something I've noticed over many years: eat more red meat. When I eat a good amount of that, typically the next day I feel much better, but not always. If that's too expensive or doesn't appear to be working, try eating organ meats, which are WAY more nutritious, less expensive, but way less appetizing and normalized. When I eat Beef liver, I can eat a small amount, but it boosts my mood way more for much less money and portion size.

As a teacher in these COVID-y times, stuff like this is super insightful. You always have to be on the lookout for young people who are struggling, and lift them up when they need it. Mental health is so underrated and often overlooked in schools, but it really shouldn't be. If any young people read this, know that there are people in your corner. We're rooting for you. You CAN do it.

I was trying to communicate with my parents through these signs, but they didn’t get it (and still don’t), and it’s hard to say directly all these things to them. I’m afraid that my problems will be belittled cuz I often hear sayings like “there are people who are suffering more than you, but they overcame and succeeded while you’re complaining about trivial things and lazy.” Psych2Go just summarized my behaviors in 5 minutes 6 seconds. Thank you Psych2Go, this video just makes me feel not alone in this world. I’m not fine in general, but at least I don’t feel today is worse than yesterday.

Comparing the suffering of 2 people (to me atleast) seems like the person who served worse punishment wants more for that punishment than potentially helping the person who doesn't have as much suffering. Suffering in of itself can grow like a seed, some grow fast when under oppressive regimes, some take years or decades to even know there is a issue. However that isn't to say that all suffering is necessarily bad. Disaplining your kid to not put a hair dryer in the bathtub, exercising, not giving a homeless man a dollar because it enables the addiction and keeps them on the streets, etc. This guy goes in far greater detail on suffering and I highly suggest you check it out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AS16dqAjQ9k.html

Just want to put out there that it's nice to tell someone who's struggling with mental issues that you're there for them but please don't say it if you aren't willing to do it. I've had so many people tell me that they'll be there for me but never really are. I've had people say they'll come visit or spend time with me at a certain time but end up canceling usually at the last minute and it's never an emergency. It's very kind to be there for people who need it but please if you aren't willing to actually do it, don't bother saying it or you'll just make it worse.

Go ask them for advice or help if your family situation is difficult they might be your best option. Now in my case I had this amazing friend who stood by me and gave me the courage to go and ask for help and also this community. At your age it’s probably more difficult to talk about this to a friend since they might not understand how you feel like. Now if you not have anyone in school you can ask, go and see your doctor he also can appoint you to a psychologist. If your parents ask about it tell them the truth even if they might be prejudiced. I hope I could help you in anyway. If you have any other questions just ask I will try to answer them in the best possible way.

Thanks I could use that video. My friends mean alot to me and I kinda always worry bout em. Sadly some of these match. And of course I don't want em to be sad! That might cause depression in me when they are sad and I am unable to do anything, so I have to hope that they get thru. I never write comments much but I might aswell do it. But these videos help me in many different way and the Narritor has a calming voice, I noticed what mental problems I have but I mostly care bout helping my friends and make em happy. Hope they make it. Thank you for reading this comment :)

I really love your videos. It helps me a lot. It gives me more insight of my Depression and Anxiety ect. And it's true, it's difficult reaching out for help which is my case rn. I also have some video suggestions. I personally think these are important: 1.) How Depression affects Type 1 Diabetics 2.) How helicopter parents aren't helping your mental health or literally anything helicopter parent related stuff (The reason I put this on is because that I have helicopter parents and the don't understand or they get the wrong idea when I tell them about my problems. I've lost my trust with them... I can't trust with my problems anymore...) 3.) How Depression and Anxiety effects girls/women when on their periods ... I forgot my other suggestions but that's alright. And I'm sorry about my little rant there. Just some thoughts I needed to get out my head...

For me I think I have bad anxiety and almost bordering on depression I've been overthinking and don't enjoy anything I loved doing before I may get up and grab my pencil to draw but most times I lay in bed thinking and panicking once every now and then I might think to myself "why don't I just give up? I can't take all this stress anymore" my mom took me to the doctor and they told me I have high blood pressure sense I don't eat a lot of sodium it was chalked up to stress from the pandemic, online school, grades, my brother going to jail etc. I try to stay positive around everyone because I don't want them to leave me so I keep my feelings to myself but I tell myself a quote to get me through what I'm feeling "life without rainy days is incomplete"

Regardless of us all in isolation, due to the Pandemic, how you are feeling is important. Talk to friends, and family members who care about what you are presently experiencing. Know that people care. You are worthy of being loved and listened to...Let your parents know that you need to speak to a counselor, not a GP. I wish you well.

Very informative video. In life there are only 2 problems--mind and the body. To feel better reduce negative thoughts [overthinking]. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives good relief from stress-anxiety. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations when taking a walk, before sleep, in school, at work, when reading, etc. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a better life. Reduce negative social media, take morning sunlight walks and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes--Counsellor.

Yes absolutely true. I have complex-ptsd, trauma, major depression and anxiety and ocd not counting all my other health issues. I have a great doctor who's doing the best they can to truly help me. I have an excellent counselor as well. I take my medications everyday like my doctor tells me to do. I'm not going to lie. I struggle almost everyday with my complex ptsd and major depression and anxiety and ocd. I went through severe trauma in my childhood and most of my adult life. I go at my own pace and take it day by day. I'm disappointed in myself for not getting better faster but each person is different and unique.

@decoy2636
@decoy2636 2 года назад
Well they probably would say youre too sensitive or too emotional. I think thats what I remember any time I tried to express myself. Sad really because they don't care about your feelings. It's hard to love yourself when those you love make you feel like you have no value. I know now they were just coping with their own abuse as children. What we have to attempt is to try not to repeat the cycle of generational abuse. My mom is no longer here and my dad is old now. I tried to break the cycle as best I could, sadly my ex was also a damaged child who passed the emotional part on to our child. I did not pass the physical abuse on to our child. I succeeded in regards to that but our general dysfunctional home prevailed. Niether of us knew our homelife as children was dysfunctional as that was all we knew. I never got angry when correcting my child as my parents had done. I never raised my voice at my child because I didn't let my child get me off my square. Tell the child camly once. If they disobey spank their little butt. I didnt hurt her butt just her feelings. We laugh now if it comes up she cant remember enough spankings to use more than fingers to count all of them. She sure remembers her mother screaming at her when I wasnt home though. I wish to encourage you about all this. Love yourself even though you may feel lost. Only with self love can you rise above what others do. Most often theyre just hurt children inside themselves. Peace and blessings.

Unfortunately i suffer from almost all of these signs (except the last one... mostly). Recently i stopped following someone i used to admire because of... some issues i had with that person, as well as some drama going around, and i feel at my lowest, again. For me it's hard to forgive people after being yelled at and abandoned multiple times in the past, so no wonder why i prefer to be in isolation nowadays. I rather be alone for the rest of my life than let anyone break my heart ever again. Never open the door to your heart to anyone, it's never worth the pain.

I experienced many of these symptoms as well, but my reason for ignoring them was different. My father had displayed many of these symptoms throughout his life. So when I started displaying the same behaviours I just chalked it up to me inheriting his personality and temperament. But the fact was that my father suffered from untreated mental illness. Since my late teens I’ve experienced mood swings, an unstable personality, feeling mentally fractured, uncontrollable fits of temper, feeling disconnected from people to the point of intensely disliking them and avoiding all human contact. It cost me jobs, opportunities and relationships and was the reason for so many bad choices in my life. It also made having a relationship with my father impossible. It is only within the last decade when I got treatment for it that I realized the truth of his situation and mine. Today my life has improved a hundred fold. But I’m left wondering how much different my life and my fathers life would’ve been if both of us had gotten treatment sooner.

I have had problems with depression and mental disorder most of my life but somehow I keep it stable. I find that i can no longer trust anyone, the so called 'friends' that judge, bitch about you and eventually stab you in the back used to contribute to my way of thinking so people come and go in my life all the time and i never try to get 'too close' to someone anymore. Even though i have diplomas in Psychology, narcissistic behaviour and a Level 2 in Counselling Skills, the biggest battle is accepting myself.

In regards to the eating issue, I actually find that my severe anxiety levels and horrible mood swings are virtually flatlined on a low carb diet and one without sugar. I find that those 2 things, even more so combined, bring out my absolute worst, and being on the higher end of the autistic spectrum, I have sensitivities to foods as well. Pretty much grains, sugars and processed foods in general cause my anxiety levels and heart rate to absolutely sky rocket within a short space of time, almost to the point where I now have to avoid those foods completely if I want to obtain the ability to cope with doing practically anything that involves concentration and any level of stress. With those foods eradicated, I can cope with driving during rush hour, but add those in and I'm losing my temper and almost giving myself a stroke immediately! The caveat is the fact that I'm going to struggle with maintaining strength for gym training, work and for dancing 2x a week but it's either that or ending up dead far sooner should the wrong place wrong time scenario take place. Just not worth that at all. Perhaps a relaxed paleo diet calls with a more modernised approach. Bearing in mind that I'm not cured totally of these symptoms, things just become completely manageable and I can experience peace more often. Something for depressed/anxious people to perhaps try to see if this helps in any way, shape or form.

The 8 things listed can describe any day of the week since mid 1980s for me. That said, another sign is not remembering or caring about last real conversation I've had with a person but can recall the last 341 chats in my head in my own fictional reality just to deal with the years of isolation.

Idk about you guys but I have a decent amount of sleep for like 8-9 hours (more than 9 hours of sleep tires me out) but I still feel exhausted in broad daylight and have no energy, like I just want to lay down again in bed and go back to sleep.. 😕 Idk what's wrong with me but whenever there's a message from my teacher or when some disturbing thoughts/memories kicks in, I immediately cover my ears 'cause I feel like there's this overwhelming pressure surrounding my body, there's no noise or whatsoever but it's so annoying that'll make me cover my ears.

My sleep quality is just so bad.. can't even remember the times it wasn't like that anymore.. edit: I have been diagnosed with Persistent Depressive Disorder. It makes sense and I have been depressed for a long time but never noticed. And what you described is a symptom I had really early and still have. You should take care of yourself.. bad sleep and loss of energy is a sign that something ain't right..
