Not necessarily, I’ve never been in a relationship but I am quite happy as I am. I found a great community and taken advantage of the time I have to do things that would be hard to do otherwise. I am truly thankful for what I do have. However, I do know that some people have a longing inside their heart to find someone and that is alright to dream of too.

The single who has experience vs. The single who never had experience is different. Perhaps some people feel contented being single, never experience relationship and don't mind to never ever experience relationship, they are rare and its fine. But some people force themselves to be contented being single 'coz they don't want to admit they have longing in their hearts and appear vulnerable, perhaps it is pride. It's not wrong to long for a relationship, it just take a guts to admit it.

Then there's people who HAVE experienced love a long time ago, know how it really is, but could never find another person of that kind of caliber to feel like you're working on something again.

I had this with a few male friends where the girlfriend saw me as a threat and I always like 'i was not interested when he was single why would I want him now?"

I have this kind of toxic friend. They found their SO (that I don't like much from a professional point of view as they're a very lazy ex-colleague) and since then, my friend has not be able to say one single sentence without mentioning them, and they have reaaaally cringey, obnoxious PDA right in front of everyone, bring them even when they were not invited to a friend outing and such... It's like they're rubbing it in my face (I actually wondered if it was on purpose or they just don't care?) and don't care if it makes me uncomfortable. It's just exhausting. I'm surprised because this friend wasn't inconsiderate nor insensitive before. Now they've become really annoying.

@Nick Couture Well, that's a difficult one. The way I see it; the fact that we seem to be looking in two different places for love and friendship might be societies biggest problem. I guess the one thing I could tell you is that a relationship will never change a person unless they want to be changed. It is always a choice to walk down that road, even if hormones cloud our perceptions. So maybe just being mindful of that will be enough. Change however is inevitiable for all of us, whether we are in a relationship or not. By avoiding them you are also making a statement that will change you forever. Personally, I know I'm a little jaded and insecure, but I'm also much happier being single as I don't enjoy sharing all my time with other people, as is the social expectation. So take it from me buddy; avoid long distance relationships and live. If nothing else it's good material to reflect upon. ^__^

Just because someone who is single lives with their parents, or a close relative doesn't automatically make them immature or childish and i personally find that somewhat offensive (even though you didnt quite mean it that way). Stating that in order to find someone you MUST live alone "because women don't like little boys" is showing your insecurities. Im sure if someone was to come into either my life, or John's life (if they live with a relative like myself) that they would be understanding of the situation because, not everyone is finacially stable to live alone. If they aren't okay with that and can't understand the situation that im currently in, then thats their own problem and not mine. You can still be a man, yet still be living with a relative (to an extent). Now on the otherside of things, if im in my 30-40's and still living at home on my ass not doing anything then yeah, your point is completely valid because, at that age you are being a child and i can understand why women would be turned away from that. It is a valid point for sure. T There is always two sides to the story and i generally think it should be reworded so it doesnt generalise the entire single male population out there living at home because, as i stated in the first paragraph, not everyone has the luxury to live alone and more often than not its not by choice. If the other half can't accept that then well, thats on them and doesnt make you, or me or any other single male living with a parent a child. The person who cant accept that is the immature child (barring if you are living with parents by choice).

I understand that some people are not in the best financial situation, but you can get a loan to live in a house. If millions of Americans my age (24) or older can do it, then what stops you? Stockpile money now while on COVID (Fiverr is great for this) and then execute the loan when appropriate. Dave Ramsey is a great source for personal finance tips.

@@T_Eighteen What I am saying is that the majority of Americans have internet access. Thus, not everything is doom and despair until COVID resolves. Have an online job, it is not hard. Get clients and make bank! If you're lucky, you may get a big firm to hire you (yes they look on Fiverr). Also, I have no stake in Fiverr financially, so you know that I mean well.

Trying to get a job by doing client work on fivver is an option, but you have to compete with thousands more doing the same thing and an employer wont search through thounsands of fivver jobs since it isnt a viable option for both them and their business, so doing online work is statistically harder than simply walking in with your resume. While doing the odd job on fivver is great for experience and having that on a resume is going to look better, ESPECIALLY if you do walk in resume drops.. If the potential employer sees you in person and see that you have done work on fivver they will be more inclined to look at your work. But for someone like me who is 24 and studying full time, doing work on fivver while studying isnt really a viable option. My comment is generally speaking about those who are financially unable to support themselves by either doing fulltime study, or who have some sort of disability which restricts them. Your comment is generalising all single males who live at home which i simply pointed out to you in the hope that you could understand that your point is partially valid, but does have a lot of errors in it. Simply rewording it so it doesn't sound so harsh won't make it controversial. :)

I can relate to you so much. I hurt myself way more trying to match my friends with getting dates and meeting new people after a divorce…. I tried but quickly learned it’s not for me. I’m happy alone and to use the time to get to know myself better and if someone nice turns up, I’ll go with the flow… but I’m not going out of my way just yet looking for a SO

You nailed it. If someone needs a relationship to be happy then they are definitely not happy being alone. If you're happy with yourself and the fact that you're single then it comes off as much more confident around others which ironically leads to finding a partner through a natural connection.

Btw you will NEVER find anyone 100% perfect. Compromise makes for great relationships. Ideally go for the 40% - 60% commonality range. Below 40% ditch or above 60% definitely lock in that person. But 40% to 60% and you can date for a few more times until the relationship grows around you.
