A 100mile race wasn't on my to do list, but after hearing this advice from top US trail runner Anton Krupicka, I am now tempted! Are you?
8 fantastic tips here, from training and nutrition, to psychology and pushing through the pain barrier.
More advice from top trail runners coming up over the next few weeks, from living legends Billy Bland, Wendy Dodds, Steve Birkinshaw and Sarah Rowell, so do consider subscribing to this channel so you don't miss out.
Many thanks to Anton, it was fantastic to chat to him and I hope he recovers from his Achilles injury soon.

“You need to get in a couple of long runs” - love the understated advice for training for 100 miles on foot 😂

I believe Anton is not that far off with his advice...even though he is one of the worlds best and he is giving advice for us mortals. I Have completed a 100 Miler plus 9000m+. My training was in fact not 'high mileage'...but certainly a 'few' long runs/walks. And as he says, the mental attitude accounts for probably at least 40% of completing a 100 Miler. I don't know why it is...but some humans like to push themselves further and further. So, in that spirit I have treated myself to a '60th Birthday present' and entered the Swiss Peaks Trail 360km and over 25000m +- :-)

My most realistic advice is this....don't compare yourself or your style to someone else...a lot of people compare themselves to the genetically elite....you know yourself, could you put more attention and effort into training?? My running always improve when i pick up a paper and pencil and make a plan..map out your week, and follow thru! Happy running to all!

That is our way of saying that someone has his or her head on straight, doesn't get swept up in the commercialization of things, just does his/her own thing. It can also mean that someone is well-centered, down-to-earth, and has his/her ego in check.

TOP TIP: Be born with the genetics of a long-distance runner. So much crap in this video. The guy has been killing marathons since he was a child. His "tips" do absolutely nothing for 99% of other humans. It's like Michael Jordan giving Basketball "Tips" to a 30 year-old whose only 5' 6" lol.

Temporarily... lol... Dude used to run 200 miles a week. He's just going to learn to push through pain that will most likely never disappear. I think he will be back after he takes a long enough brake to explore other avenues of training like he is now. He's gotten into skiing and he climbs a lot. He's just an all around animal and he doesn't mind getting hurt in the process of finding true presence and enlightenment. He's a god and whenever I'm struggling with my own injuries I just look at him and think, "man if I can just be half the trooper he is I'll be A-Okay!" Thanks for your great videos! I have so much love for this community.
