@@CarlzJafran Thank you for providing the yield information, components, and fertilizers used. Also, the pot size info. So many videos fail to do this. I personally like all the baseline data I can get to see which way I want to go. Much appreciated! Buying quality soil (like Promix here in the U.S.) is expensive as it is so I like to know what is the minimum size pot or grow bag per SWPO plant/slip or regular seed potato that I can get away with. For the latter, I have garnered a minimum 2-3 gallon pot or grow bag container will work (for the non-determinate varieties). I usually dump out and 'refresh' my soil every year in the spring, but I completely started tossing out the top 2" left in a pot 1st to minimize overwintering bugs/eggs. I should probably bake that portion in my oven to initiate a good kill, but that's a bit much right now. Maybe in the future. I have noticed my white fly situation is markedly less this year as a result. One pot I forgot about was the culprit when I happened to brush my hand against the the greenery, but I believe I noticed/caught it in time. Upon full, all over inspections since, so far, so good.🤞 I mostly container garden and that's the main recurrent pest I have dealt with so far.
You can also just cut vines and Bury them into your pot or bed without rooting them first. That's how I've always done it. I'm only learning about rooting them now. I guess one would root them if they had a short summer?, otherwise not necessary.
Once established, sweet potatoes will tolerate growing in dry soil. It's best to keep it evenly moist with 1 inch of water given once a week. Don't water your sweet potatoes during the final three to four weeks prior to harvest to prevent the mature tubers from splitting. But here in tropical climate we water our sweet potatoes twice a day in hot weather/summer and no need to water in raining season. Thanks for watching and have a great day...
@@CarlzJafran thank you so much for your prompt reply. I have just planted a few sweet potatoes plant couple days ago. When do I need to fertilize them? I do have NPK12-12-17 at home. BTW I am your new subscriber from Johor 😊
@@denisewoo913 Sweet potatoes after 15 days of planting fertilize it with same amount of NPK like 10:10:10 or 5:5:5 or 12:12:12 or something like that. And you can compost for it. After a month your sweet potatoes in the ground then you can fertilize it with NPK 12:12:17 for produce tubers. Thanks for the support... appreciated... Happy gardening...
@@CarlzJafran oh that's great. I do have npk 9-9-9 and I will be using that as the 1st fertilizer. Thanks again and hope to watch more of your content. Stay safe & healthy 🙏
Yes. If you live in 4 season countries you will start to sprouting tubers again but if you live in tropical climate just use vine cutting and plant them. Thanks for watching and have a nice day...
