8-Year-Old Drops Monster 800m Kick 

Why didn’t the kid with the shades win? He looks so much like a main character

Based on the title, I was expecting him to dropkick someone right after finishing.

i was rooting for the kid in the shades, man may not have won the race but he definitely won my heart with the amount of drip he was packing

I never knew a bundle of kiddos running a race could be so freakin adorable.

I didn’t even know running events like this existed for kids this young

When i saw "kick" in the title i expected a 800m long dropkick from an 8 year old , life is disappointing

That kid had really good running form, and picked his moment to shift gears and kick it the rest of the way! Well trained and highly motivated young athlete!

They were all adorable. So talented and gutsy. But that little one just played the long game. He trusted in himself and went off like a rocket. They all deserve a Gold Medal.

I want them all checked for performance enhancing flintstone vitamins.

he started that kick on the start of the second lap. you can see him gain a ton of ground as he started crossing the start/finish on the first turn. amazing run

The entire time I was like "I can't believe they are having these little kids run this much" but then they are kids so in a way it should be easier for them than adults, just takes longer. That kid saved his energy for that last sprint and nailed it!

The 800m is a killer, I used to dread it at school. How these 8 year olds develop that sort of pace is beyond me.

As a former Junior State level 800/1500m runner myself, I can't help but feel Victor's run here is very misread by the majority of people in the comments. For an 8 year old, this is simply an absurd run. This wasn't a case of him having sheer determination to bring himself back into the race as he was comfortable the entire time. This is after letting the leaders get at least 40m ahead after the first 200. At that age, 99% of runners would try to play "Catch up" thinking their too far behind. By the start of the second lap, first time watching I could already see he was going to win as he was the only one who still had his form. Backstraight you can clearly tell by his face that his completely calm. Breathing still well managed. And with still plenty in the tank, proceeded to leave them for dead. Which showed not only how well his read the pace (Which is immensely difficult at 8) but showed an adult level maturity just focusing on his own race. Kudos to him and his trainer!

As a high school cross country/distance track runner, this is insane. My PR as a sophomore so far is 2:12 (1:06 a lap) and these kids are running faster than some of my teammates!

Meanwhile when I was 8 I was trying to push all the switches down on those multi-colored pens.

While all the opponents got tired, Victor did both laps at the same exact laptime 1:16. That's awesome even for an adult runner, that's perfect pace control

I love how they're all decked out in gear. Shades, necklaces, hair ties, man buns, looking like a mini adult race. If I was running that when I was 8 I'd have a jersey with cool-aid spilled down the front, corduroy shorts that I couldn't get to stay up, messed up hair with snot running down my face.

The first time around I thought it was going to be one of the 3 main kids fighting for 1st place until he showed up out of nowhere with an explosion of speed, watching it back he was there the whole time. Kept a good pace and low profile and exhausted himself when needed. Mind of a killer champion right there.
