Too bad there’s none of these type of hitters playing today. Let’s be grateful we got to see these guys play.

These three guys are the reason teams stack so many left handed starting pitchers in their rotation nowadays.

Mattingly was no "slap hitter". He hit pissrods. Period all the time.

Randy Johnson would feast on Wade Boggs.

Boggs hit .297 lifetime against left handed pitchers so basically you are wrong.

@@kellywoodall6733 Your comment has nothing to do with my Randy Johnson comment. Randy Johnson struck Wade Boggs out numerous times when it was nearly impossible to do including three times in one game after which he would take the day off whenever Randy was pitching as did many other left handed batters. Watch old Boston/Seattle games and you likely won't see Boggs in the lineup despite his meaningless .297 lifetime avg against lefties so basically I'm right.

@Jake Stockton But yet Boggs would take the day off whenever Randy was pitching. He wasn't the only great lefty who was afraid of Johnson. Rafael Palmiero and George Brett were just as afraid and sat out also. Truth hurts.

I believe Mattingly had a great batting average against Randy Johnson.
