Heather, I have literally lost my memory from brain injury 25 yes ago. I lost all my long term memory. You have just brought back some memories. I rocked a spiral perm. My hair was huuuge. I'm giggling and crying at the same time. Thank you so much for the memories ❤️
Oh, yeah, the '80s big hair, I had it, too. Since I have straight hair, I got a perm, then added gobs of Dippity-Do and scrunched it in, then backcombed it up and out, as far as I could get it, then lacquered the daylights of it, with Aqua Net. No amount of wind or humidity, could knock down my hairdo
Ohhhh... The way this took me back!!!! I was in my later teens in the 80s and my makeup looked so similar to yours except with Shimmery green eyeshadow and a bright Barney purple lipstick. I definitely got spiral perms and had my hair frosted. I definitely curled my hair sprayed hair and then sprayed it while it was on the curling iron. Annndddd... I used Salon Selectives Shampoo and Conditioner. We had no idea what contouring was in the 80s,but we did know all about hairspray! Also, my stomach hurts from laughing so hard. I sense a viral video here!!😂😂😂
OMG! My Mom had this EXACT look..... well she also rocked the black leather mini skirt with those fishnet hose with the line up the back. I was just flooded with memories of sitting in the hallway watching her get ready. I thought my Mom was a super model. I recently lost her so Thank You for the wounderful memoriez! A lil back story..... my Mom was in her middle 20s. She was a single mother to 4 kids. My Dad was in his middle 30s and myl Mom was 14 when he took\got with her (apparently times were different in the 60s. If ur kid left no one really noticed if u had a HUGE family) She ROCKED a size 4 after 4 kids. She was jamming to/raised us on 80s rock. She would sing and dance (basically put on a concert for us while getting ready). Looking back..... its always the lil moments that i hold dear! She passed a yr ago. Thank you for taking me down memory lane! OH and ummm yes she had us rocking the perm.... we also had super THICK and Naturally Curly hair..... lets just say looking back at pics of my hair. It was deff NOT a good look on us girls with suck hair. FRIZZ for days 😂
My daughter was an 80s girl. She ratted that hair like crazy and used a can of aqua net.she also had a crimper. When she was in high school it was the velour sweat suits like they are wearing now. I cracked up when you said the swim class. My daughter used to beg me to give her a note to excuse her from swim. Cute video. 😅
You had me🤣🤣🤣🤣. On our bus…the boys would put the windows down and play FREEZE OUT🙄. By the time us girls got off that bus…we were 😳🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣. I used my share of Aqua Net, but I wish I could remember the name of this stuff spray I found…it was in a store…in a little town…I think my dad finally bought a case at a time. N the moouse. Sheesh. Idw us to go back to that style. We are lucky to have hair🤣🤣🤣. Tyfs beautiful & for the giggles🤗💖.
Thank you for bringing back the 80's Heather ❤ Those were the days. I tried wearing my hair similar to you, but it always fell flat. Love you and keep being you ❤
Now I am someone who wasn't even alive in the 80's and was born somewhere in the mid-90's. I wanted to find a video just like this where people like you that who were at the right age bracket for this time period and would help me see a more accurate way of doing 80's hair styles. I don't trust too much of people within my age range or younger doing these tutorials because none of us lived through this time period so it's not gonna be 100% accurate for most of the time. What I find interesting about this is that people at my age range that were scene kids did almost the exact thing you guys did in the 80's with how they did their hair. I guess it goes to show how some things never change. You can find any old RU-vid video when the scene subculture was big and their methods are almost the exact same thing you did. Anyway this is a great video. Thank you for making this.
We didn't do perms. We DID do gel, mousse and gallons of hairspray and a good curling iron. You could break a finger trying to move that hair. I was a little older and had curls, not frizz. I loved the 80's . We had so much fun. The clothes were fun, the makeup and hair was fun. The accessories were fun. The music was great. Life was good.❤😊
Oh the memories Lol. I was born in 1970. So I definitely did the 80s big hair look. I started getting perms when I was 13. Salon Selectives, gel, Aqua net was my best friend. As well as dark blue eye shadow, Revlon stick dark blue eye liner. Lol. It was a fun era! ❤
I was 15 in 1980. I spent my high school years getting up two hours early to do my hair and makeup every single day. Washed my hair every morning. Surprised I still have hair the way I burnt the crap out of it. I wore blue eye liner in the water line no matter what colors I was wearing lol. And everything back then was either silver or gold. I was a gold girl. Gold jacket ,gold pocket book ,gold shoes, and gold jewelry . The photos tell the story 😂😂😂
I am 63. I permed my hair up until 3 years ago. Now i am letting it grow long and not coloring ir either. Going to gray gracefully. I do remember having big hair. My sons are glad I don't have 80's hair anymore!
I'm not much older than you, I used covergirl foundation back then & I remember one time coming out of the bathroom at a dance a cute guy I liked said " what's that smell, ben-gay"? 😂 I was mortified
Omg the Perms lol yes my mom would take me to my aunt who was a hairdresser and I had to sit thru that and have that stinky perm smell forever …that’s the exact bangs lol I love it !!!
YES!! Please share your goody boxes you received! That's so fun to see what other people send! You don't have to say their name or maybe only a first name for more privacy. 😁💛 Love your channel! ❤
Lol...Yes the perm is what made the hair. I come across your channel and I have been beng watching every sence...You have a cute personality...your funny and I love your facial expressions. Love your channel 😏👍♥️🌹🙏
🤣🤣🤣 Omg Heather, you kill me!!! This is hilarious!! Yup 80s girl here and you nailed it!! Perms... mandatory!! AquaNet... mandatory!! Teasing... mandatory!! Blue eyeshadow... oh heck yeah!! Oh the memories!! What were we thinking??!! Hahahahaaaa!!
I was a teenager in the late 60s early 70s. We had a whole different look with a page boy teased up bubble hairdo. I was also studying to be a beautician while in high school and worked at it almost all through the 70s. My era was updos and bleached and frosted hair.
Oh my gosh. It is midnight and hubby is so mad at me cause he is trying to sleep and i am trying not to hysterically laugh out loud watching this video! I am laughing through my hand clasped over my mouth with snot shooting out of my nose.
This was so fun! I remember this look all too well. I went between the blue and purple eye shadow! Aqua Net blue can for me though. I had to carry a big purse so I could bring my AN. 😂 I also remember using the hand blowers to blow my hair into position when it went flat 😂 Sheesh, those were the times. Banana clips were huge back then. Loved those things!
We need that 80’s video. I used to get a perm every 6 months and I was a wing girl I always had my sides in wings. And I did the half back and half under bangs 😂 I did a spiral perm every 6 months because I was scared it wouldn’t be big enough 😂 I graduated in 93 and those were the best of times. Everything was so simple back then. We definitely want to see a video on a 80’s inspired makeup look using today’s techniques
OMG! Heather, I almost peed myself watching this video!! You are too funny girl, you totally nailed it. 😂 I just recently found your channel and I have been binge watching you. You are hysterical and you make me so happy when I watch you. Just wanted to say thanks for all you do. 👍🏼❤️😁
I had such fun watching you get your 80's hair look. You and my daughter must be the same age, cause she also went through the BIG HAIR DAYS!!! I am going over to her house and make her watch this video because I was sitting on my couch laughing out loud...with you 😂
80's was was teenaged years, graduated high school in 1990...butt length big hair, spiral perms and the crimper and if you didnt have a crimper or flat iron, we'd use moms iron and ironing board, blue eueshadow, back combing(teasing) and Aqua Net hairspray....but ya the Aqua Net hairspray was a must, cans at home, cans in locker, and at least 1 can in backpack...lol ya I'm pretty sure the 80's and 90's Agua Net usage was the major cause of the hole in the ozone layer😂😂😂😂 Great video! Flashback! ❤ and hugs from 🇨🇦
Heather, Hi sweets, binge watching your videos. Cracked up, had to share…teenager from the 70’s who used an iron to straighten hair & never burnt hair. The pendulum swings again!
I was a teenager in the 80's and had big hair. I didn't have to tease it. It just stayed big.. with aqua net of course. Also the eyeshadow. Blue and pink were my colors. Whoo baby it was something lol. You took me back lol sorry to miss you putting on the makeup but another great video, thank you!
YESSS!! I had long long long hair and I would perm it and then braid it while it was wet too! I used Covergirl makeup. Just the foundation, blush, and blue eyeshadow. I rocked the look and actually thought that I looked good!LMAO You did a great job recreating this look! Rock on!
I did perms and it was usually the spiral perm. To be honest, it was whatever they talked me into. I wish they’d bring back the big hair. I loved purple shadow back then though. We had it made back in those days 😊
You have BALLS. I love it. I grew up in the late 60's and 70's. My brothers girlfriend teased her hair sooo high it barely fit in his car it was to the door. lol
Girl, you brought me right back to my teen years! My best friend lived with us too so my mom would complain every time we got ready because two girls and a can of aqua net would leave a cloud of hairspray through the house 😂 I got nostalgic finding Salon Selectives at Dollar Tree a couple years ago and was sadly disappointed when I used it and it was so watery.
I LOVE this 💙💙 I can pull out photos of my mom with the blue and the hair I remember the picture lol now I was born in 1980 so I was a kid and I have several school pics when I was young of big hair just like my moms 😂💙💙
I had to use lots of aqua net hair spray to keep my hair up, lol. The blue shadow and blue mascara! I Was lucky enough to have full thick curly hair so did have to tease or whatever..TFS beautiful Miss Heather 😊❤
Heather, it is literally almost 3:00 A.M. here in the beautiful state of Kentucky, known for its blue grass and thoroughbred horses. I have honestly laughed myself silly for hours laughing at this video…you are so funny and your personality astounds me. I became a prescriber and anxiously await 😆🤣your every video so I can continue laughing at you 😆🤣!!!!
I loved this video....brought back so many memories. lol i absolutely remember working for hours on my hair like you, being 4' 11'" I felt so much taller. With all the stuff we put in it, it's a wonder we have hair. My Mom gave me Toni Perms to try to put curls in my hair...she tried so hard. In my older years, I tried the perms and they gave me an afro look.
You got it right to the point I had a perm and I used Focus texture spray Studio spray and Aqua net hair spray the big hair was the best and your right it never moved lol just add some Bonnie Bell lip balm after school lunch and off for the rest of the day great memories thank you
I was right there with you girl in the 80's😂😂😂😂 the hair on each side of my head was the size of my face lol. My older brother had a salon so I had aaaaall the hair products!
I never did the spray on the curling iron, though I do remember girls doing that in gym class after swimming first hour. We just put our hair up on top of our heads and never put our head underwater. For me, I curled my bangs and then sort of poofed it with a brush and I got a nice poof. All of this with all the gel and mousse and hairspray in the world. And a spiral perm.
I would get a spiral perm every 6 months 😂 I was born in 75 so my teen years were in the 80’s and 90’s. I graduated in 93 and we still had big hair then.
I would dry my hair upside down and use my palm in circular motions on my bangs. I’d spray the “wings,” as my mom called the sides and wrapped them around the aqua net (in the white can) while it dried. If I didn’t have a perm or crimp the rest, I was a “plate head.” (My mom was so nice 😂) my hair was so thin, I had a hard time getting the full effect.
I had thick pin straight hair, so I needed a perm. I would spray my hair with my head down, then flip my head up, and my hair would be huge! I used rollers every day to loosen up the perm curl. It took forever to get ready. 😂
omg Heather has a Heather sign in the back... i just said: let me check the more recent ones ;-) My son was so exited that you responded. looooooooooooooooooooooooool the hair...omg i think i am same age like you...i love true crime too ...i told my boy...she is so like meeeee looooool
🤣 i love it. I had thick frizzy hair and I wanted the soft curls of a perm and my mom too me to the local beauty shop. 😳 omg I had a fro. I cried for days 🤣 I tried the straightener stuff and it fried it. My cap and gown pictures are horrible!!! Lol but the liquid blue eye shadow was my jam. And the liner you had to light with a cigarette lighter 🤣 I miss those days
I was a teenager in the 90s and used so much gel and hair spray that I had to wash my hair every night, couldn't fall asleep otherwise. Have not used either product since high school, but still can't sleep unless I shampoo my hair, just a habit I guess. So many people say it's better to only wash your hair a few times a week, but I just can't do that.
You were so cool!!1 LOL I wish you had showed us a picture of you from the 80's next to your look today. That would have been awesome. how long idd you wash your hair for? haha Yes I also had a perm in the 80's. My son who was in second grade at the time also asked for me to give him a perm so he had one also. My hubby had naturaly curly hair so he was good. Funny how quick and easy it was to put our makeup on back then compared to now. We had no where need the products that we use today just to get out of the house.we didn't have swim class at school but hadst many other things We had to do archery, gymnastics, folk dancing, softball basketball, volleyball. We did have a night where we played the gym teachers in a game of donkey basketball, that was fun I have to admit. We were also on the platoon system back then. You either went in the morning or afternoon to school. It alternated each year. I have to admit we had some good times back then.
I read yesterday that perms are making a comeback...but I think I'll pass on that trend. I used to have permed hair and big wings. They were legendary. People asked me how I made them stay all the time. Do you remember the hair spray called Freeze IT? That was my secret. By the way, we saw someone on our last cruise who had hair that looked like yours in this video, except it was super long. She definitely had the 80s look! LOL
I still get perms yearly lol my hair dresser says she gives quite a few people perms. She says a lot of people like them cuz it makes their hair easier to curl. I hate my straight hair so I always have a perm lol
Omg, the perm was the way to go and I used to tease the sh#t out of my hair 😂 people used to tell me you look like you ran into a brick wall lol…by the way I still think it looks awesome on you ❤
