These aired on WTTV in August of 1988. Thanks to Corey for recording these and sending them my way. BTW, 80's Commercial Vault recently celebrated its 2nd birthday!
1. "Jem" Commercial Bumper (Truly, truly, truly outrageous!)
2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Action Figures (I remember kids pretending they were the Ninja Turtles on the playground at preschool around this time and not knowing who the hell they were. I felt so out of the loop)
3. Flipsiders
4. Brush & Grow My Little Pony
5. Promo for "Webster"
6. "Jem" Commercial Bumper
7. Count Chocula & Frankenberry Monster Mallows (I think I only ate Count Chocula once at a friends house. I don't think it was sold much around here)
8. Cheerios Kid Power Election
9. Dino-Riders (One of the few 80's franchises I eagerly await a remake of)
10. Promo for "Finder's Keepers"
11. "Jem" Commercial Bumper
12. Sylvanian Families
13. Jam Ball
14. Baskin Robbins (Wow, they had mini football helmets too?)
15. Lookin' Smart Maxie (LOL at the hair on the boyfriend doll)
16. Promo for "Yogi Bear"
17. Froot Loops (Something that could only happen in a cereal commercial. Everyone knows that penguins and toucans are natural enemies!)
18. "Jem" End Credits
19. WWF at Market Square Arena
20. Frosted Flakes (Sorry to post this ad for the thousandth time, but look! A free Frisbee Flyer!)
21. Cinnamon Toast Crunch (With Jonathan Brandis. And more footage of Wendell and those two poor bakers he brutally murdered)
22. 4-Wheel Off Road Jamboree Nationals (OMG I want a free gigantic monster truck coloring book!)
23. McDonald's (Holy crap...I had that Grimace bag and used it to carry my lunch during preschool and kindergarten! I remember that the bag itself was made of some strange vinyl material that smelled funny. I haven't thought of that in over 20 years)
24. Promo for "Alvin & The Chipmunks"
25. WTTV Station ID

I thought TMNT got big after 1988, but then again, the live-action movie came out only a year and a half later. I vaguely remember participating in that Cheerios voting thing, and really wanting to go to DC. Sadly, I didn't win and didn't get a photo op with my congressman. Even as a kid, I had the feeling that Finders Keepers was just a Double Dare ripoff. It was way too easy to accidently bury what you were looking for in each room, as I recall. I guess HB started syndicating Yogi again.

OMG flipsiders. I had one of those. I got it at a toy store in Mexico. Macho man VS Andre the Giant. Inconceivable!

@MeInTX In '87/early '88 it began to be syndicated widely and was sort of an underground hit. I don't think it became *huge* until the action figures came out in the summer of '88. By the time I was in Kindergarten in 1989 it was completely inescapable.

I love the toy commercials. I had sooo many Barbies growing up and no Kens, so I would use the neighbor boy's Ninja Turtles. They would marry my Barbies and go live happily ever after in the sewers. The stinky Grimace bag! I had the same one and I remember the smell exactly! Thinking about it makes me want a PB and J sandwich and some carrot sticks.

I find it ironic that they were airing Maxie commercials during "Jem." Maxie was essentially Hasbro's Jem-replacement. Same face molds and everything.

Flipsiders! I SO wanted one of those!!!! I like the Cheerios ad -- win a trip to DC, DC residents not eligible LOL I had Jamball, and like the comment below mine, it did NOT work as good as the ads (what else?) Cool ID for WTTV! Always liked station IDs in the 80s

#15 looks like a doll that is a parody of the 80's. But I guess it really did get that bad. I was only 3 when this aired haha.

Not much that I recognize here--I was 17 years old in 1988 and had pretty much outgrown "kiddie" shows--but... 5:34--Yogi Bear is a classic. I actually had a Yogi Bear board game when I was a kid. 7:30--I actually remember this Frosted Flakes commercial very well. It was all over the TV airwaves in the late 80's.

I don't recall getting into TMNT until around 1990, personally, but it could've been 1989 when I started watching it. Did ANYONE like Maxie dolls? I remember everyone just making fun of them all the time. Also, I somehow missed out on Jem. I think I was still too busy obsessing over Rainbow Brite and Garfield. I didn't have one of those McDonald's bags, but I did have one of the green boxes.

On a different video of yours recently, I posted that I thought the actress playing Maxie looked like Melissa Reeves, but I did more research, and it's Brooke Theiss.

OMG, WWF at 7:02! That must have been 1988 since Macho Man was the champ.

@bigmankralc Don't forget the Ninja Turtles-brand snack foods. Pizza Crunchabungas and Pudding Pies for the absolute win. Throw in a glass of Ecto Cooler to wash them down with, and an absolute win becomes an absolutely EPIC win.

I remember yanking the hair completely out of my "brush & grow" My Little Pony, and then crying b/c I ruined it Finders Keepers looks similar to Double Dare I do not understand the concept behind Jam Balls Maxie is scented?! *snort* I was never sure how Froot Loops managed to have "natural" fruit flavors I forgot about the Frosted Flakes jingle. brings back memories I miss those TV station IDs didn't Jonathon Brandis commit suicide? I remember the funny smelling vinyl bags too
