These commercials aired on ABC on October 17th, 1982
1. Massengill Medicated Disposable Douche (I think this wins, hands down, as the most awkward commercial I've ever posted)
2. Wisk (Those DIRTY RINGS!!! :shakes fist:)
3. Coleco Vision (Ignoring the immense AC adapter, I think this might have been the best of the rival systems that went after the Atari 2600. The graphics on many titles are fantastic for the time and the ports of arcade games like Donkey Kong were as close to the original as you could get. The console itself looked really cool...like something out of Star Wars. And last but not least, it was somehow backwards compatible with the 2600)

It was only compatible with the Atari 2600 if you bought Expansion Module #1, which was basically a reconfigured Coleco Gemini (their VCS clone) designed to plug in through the CV's expansion port. Mattel did the same thing for the Intellivision II. However, the Colecovision was definitely the most expansable, also featuring the driving controller (I had one back in the day, it was awesome), super action controllers (kinda complicated and broke a lot but a neat idea), and of course, the ADAM full computer expansion.

That first commercial caused my parents to say things like "Who wants to see that???" And when we've added a fast forward device on our first VCR (as well as seeing that commercial), it was like "You've *got* to get pass this!"

***** Yes, but that is with cable channels. (Network TV doesn't show movies anymore.) Back in the day, however, it usually took a minimum of three years for movies to premiere on network TV, often more. Return of the Jedi was released in 1983, but didn't have its network TV premiere until 1989.

+Skull10 Network TV still frequently shows movies on weekends. It just depends on the time of year (most seem to be aired during the summer).

I didn't know McDonald's had Chicken McNuggets that soon. I associated them with 1985, but then I may have only gone there for Happy Meals at that time, and rarely.

They were actually first released to test markets (big cities) in 1981. These were recorded in Chicago, so the ad here predates the nationwide rollout in 1983 by several months.

Colecovision was the place to go for the best versions of classic arcade games, but that Donkey Kong they had always bugged me, the first level is mirrored! ESPN -- Now 24 hours of Sportscenter! That one car from Mitsubishi held all the secrets of the universe and IT'S NO LONGER BEING MADE?!
