This was aired the day before my 9th birthday! My brother and I weren't exactly "Dallas" fans, however. Oh, General Foods International Coffees...I didn't end up trying these until I turned 23. Really was more like coffee flavoured hot cocoa. Those yuppies misled me! Tough Act was a commercial I definitely remembered, but only the animations. Maybe it could've been a regional branding. You'd think by 1984, an "ambulance driver" would just be a "paramedic." We had a bit of current events in the 3rd grade, and my teacher was stunned when I was mentioning William Schroeder as the second person to get an artificial heart. Most of the kids were a bunch of nitwits that barely paid attention in class, let alone the news. I think by 1984, Volkswagen started making a lot of their cars here in the USA, I'm somewhat surprised they didn't mention it in their ads.
Hefty Cinch Sak primary actor (Charlie) is Eddie Barth who portrayed Myron Fowler on Simon & Simon in the first couple of seasons or so. The CBS correspondent, Fred Graham, was born the same year as Eddie Barth, 1931. Fred is still alive.
I most definitely remember this Friday night lineup! Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas, and Falcon Crest. In my opinion CBS dominated Friday nights around this time.
That Dunkin' Donuts commercial...Why do I picture that guy using his female outfit for more than just finding out how fresh other places' donuts are? I think it's a rare glimpse into his secret life. The fact that he doesn't even bother to shave his mustache tells you his clients are not exactly the high rollers.
Thanks for the uploads. I hope you get some more Saturday morning commercials from 1984 up (or any other kids commercials from 1984, I'm sort of on a search for those).
Go to the 80'sCommercialVault home page and in that search icon to the far right next to "About", type in "Saturday Morning" and a whole bunch of videos related to what you type in will appear. Not all of them will be Saturday morning, for some will be afternoon or evening, but by doing this it will cut your search down.
The voice-over guy for Gallo wine was everywhere in the early 80s. I found his old-timey voice obnoxious. He also did Life cereal and Countrytime lemonade. Anyone know his name?
Do my ears deceive me, or is the Burlington Silky Woven Fabrics ad voiced by Sally Kellerman? And here I thought she only hawked Salad Dressing. Sultry..
RE:"Cover-Up"-that ep was from when the replacement guy took over(after Jon Eric Hexume(sp) accidentally shot himself with a blank-loaded pistol on set)seven or so episodes into the first season.. was that Jenilee Harrison(of Threes Company fame) in that Folgers ad?
Hmm,looks like that family are fans of the Michigan Frog in that Pepto Bismol commercial(I am well aware that the song is an old rag time song from the turn of the century, but i highly doubt old gramps had that old album or a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 lying around,so its much more likely that they just happened to watch upon the cartoon-not that theres anything wrong with that...he just happens to be my favorite Looney Tunes character despite being in one or two shorts).
It was an old ragtime standard and popular sing along song before that. It's the reason why it was used in the cartoon. Because a lot of people knew it.
