80 Series Land Cruiser LX450 Brake Booster Replacement 

This video convinced me and my dad that we didn't need to mess with motor mounts, I know these videos don't get a ton of views but for those of us that need them it is a lifesaver. Janky reman unit out, new seiken booster in :)

Thanks for the video. I used it as a reference to shoot my own video of replacing a brake booster on a FZJ80. I mention I used your video as a reference when doing research for this job. I linked your video in the video description of my video. Your video was informative but it's too bad you didn't have somebody helping you film. Your body was blocking the action quite a bit. The problems I had with my own video is the focus was way off at times and the audio wasn't the greatest due to the wind that was blowing while we were filming. I used a DJI Osmo Pocket camera and I messed up getting clear shots. I think I'm going to go back to using a GoPro camera because I never had issues with the shots being in focus with the GoPro. Thanks, I thought no way to wiggle the booster out and in, this video helped a lot. Was able to carefully and meticulously complete job without any real issues within 3 to 4 hours. I'm a fairly competent happy homeowner mechanic with most tools. Did this for a friend with a '96 lx450, bullet proof tank with 350k miles and going strong.

Doing mine hopefully tomorrow weather permitting, you guys rule for these videos!

I did my booster and I had the hardest time removing and reinstalling the boost because it keeps hitting the intake manifold. you made it look easy. I used a pry bar.

Loved, "oh yea, my long panel poppers" ... cause when you're doing brake work, you just may need a pair of panel poppers, long.

Thanks for the video although mine didn't go in as easily and I had to use a rubber mallot to get the booster past the intake manifold 😅

Great video. I kind of suspect that I need to replace my brake booster and master cylinder on my LX450. Seems like almost all 80 series have been neglected and loads of them need a lot of work. I bet if they weren't Toyota and SFA lots of them would be in junkyards by now.

Take the drivers seat out. Made a huge difference for me. Only issue is booster studs won't go in. Summer driveway wrenching makes it worse and the language flow faster. Any tips on getting booster in the 4 holes? Nothing bent. It's already past engine tight spot. They line up, but just won't go in... ugh

I have to replace booster, so I bought new master cylinder too as well as front calipers and new LSPV. Can someone please tell me the ideal order to remove? I'm doing this myself. Ugh. Any help is appreciated. This video is a lifesaver.

i didnt see adjusting of the brake booster push rod, the rod that pushes master cylinder piston , or are these non adjustable. so many cars so many different designs.

I've never gotten one out that easy I've cut the studs faster than I can wrestle it out

Great video, guessing I'm gonna tackle this job in my '94 this week. I am getting tons of pressure on my pedal to the point where it seems to build then pushes back on my foot. Very, very odd! Ever heard of that?

Any major differences with this process for an FJ80? I know the Seikens from Cruiser Yard for the FZJ80s will fit my 91 (with a longer vacuum line). Also - your birf video was a lifesaver and finally gave me the courage to rebuild my front axle and hubs. Your thoroughness is greatly appreciated!

For more brake performance on the 80series would you recommend just to.put Terrain Tamer Brake Booster or better a Marks4x4 master cylinder? I have green EBC pads & rotors mounted already..

I need to do my booster and figured might as well do master cylinder too. Nervous as hell to do this in my driveway, but it needs to be done and all my money goes to fuel ;) Can someone tell me should I get a vacuum bleeder (Capri brand) or no vacuum one? Also, is it as bad as I'm making it into ?

Great channel! Any plans on making a PHH video? I have owned my 80 series for 6 years and haven't done it yet and not sure if it was ever done.

I'm hearing a lot of air coming from behind the brake pedal as I'm pressing it down and the pedal is very 'spongy' when driving. I can't find any leaking of fluid by the brake cylinder so am I right in thinking that the vacuum booster needs replacing? I'm just a home mechanic living in Africa needing some advice! Thank you

When disconnecting the master cylinder you don’t lose brake fluid through the back? And also do you use a new master cylinder gasket?

Best way to bleed the brakes for an 80 series? I typically use a vacuum hand pump at the caliper furthest from the reservoir. Isn't there some middle bleeder or something on the rear axle on my to write about? Thanks

Is the brake booster the same as a brake actuator? Toyota service place said I need to replace the brake actuator but they want 1800 just for the part. I didn't even let them tell me what the labor would cost.

Im having an issue where my brakes are randomly dragging. All 4 brakes are biting and I have to floor my truck to move. It has new pads and rotors all around, deleted abs and lspv. Braked were fine for 2 months now theyre randomly locking up.
