800 miles road trip to buy a 2cv, 

First time driving a car was one of the exact same colour wise, in a friends field throwing it around best fun we had at 15/16 yrs of age. Have wanted one ever since . Now approaching my 50th yr Very soon I’m wanting one even more so now kids are grown . I’m the mad lady that waves enthusiastically at any I see , would definitely prefer this colour choice as maroon is my favourite colour. Stunning example enjoy her and drive her lots xx

This brought back happy memories of my identical 2CV Charleston. I kept it 5 years did 15k mls a year commuted every weekend from B'ham to London on the M1 always foot to the floor flat out, it never let me down. Only time it stopped was my fault driving it thru flood water that came up to the bottom of the doors.The points sit at the front of the engine very low at the bottom so water gets in easily. I took the points cover off dried it out 10 mins later it was running again and continued my journey home.

The last part of this video from inside the 2CV with the headlights sticking up like that reminds me of a video of a Caterham tearing round the Nurburgring!

We did a 2CV trip in the mid 90's from East Anglia in the UK to Holand on an ex Banana boat -then all the way down through Belgium, France, Spain, and then into Morocco North Africa near Casablanca wormed our way back to Gibraltar for a few days rest then back through the middle of Spain to Andora then headed east along the Med to Monaco then into Italy and over the Alps to Switzerland then Germany. Luxemburg before heading back to Blighty - 28 days on the road - Twice we had to use the starting handle as left the lights on too long while putting the tents up otherwise no issues - We had a refurbished 2CV van engine in ours with lower compression so never did go much over 60mph but we never worried about the low octane fuel.

I love 2 CVs. Great minimalist approach, for example, the double ended coil and no need for a distributor. However, not so keen on changing the CB points. I have seen groups of them driving through Morocco (from France). Truly a "go anywhere" vehicle. I don't know why everyone thinks new cars are better.

Just love these.. wish they were easier to buy here in Australia.. there are only private imports here...

Hi I had a 2cv back in the late 70s beige paintwork bougth her at slough auctons 15 pounbs with clapout 450cc engine found a 600cc in local scrap yard for a tenner sold the 450 for a tenner great cars fun to drive! real rock-n-roll car top rolled back four standing swaying in the wind, the police stopped us and said we been waiting for it to roll over never did!!!!
