@@hardwarerepair200 it’s possible the power on the radios are turned up too high on the Aruba APs and over saturation of the area interferes with the ps3 antenna or the card itself. Could some internal shielding help?

Can confirm! This bug is kind of wild. I acquired my first ever PS3 only yesterday (CECHJ03). Been mucking about with it in the workshop, all fine, but only this morning the networking screws up much as you described. Wired only works enough to obtain a DHCP lease on a cold boot, then the link fails. Inconsistent status reported (eg, shows an IP, but also no link light), no SSIDs found, but worked fine yesterday. Assumed it's probably duff hardware. Only since finding this video I've worked out it's specifically the Aruba VPN/access point I sometimes use for work that's the cause. I also run my own Ubiquiti AC Pro just feet away with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks enabled, WPA2-PSK and this doesn't cause any issue. Boot the Aruba, boom, wired and wireless networking fails consistently on the PS3. Presumably something related to the enterprise SSID it broadcasts. I'd never have put those things together were it not for this video! How has this not been common knowledge for years? Maybe because few people use a PS3 in a modern workplace or otherwise rarely had enterprise networks nearby. Thank you!

I can also confirm that I was having the same problem on the CECHA01 that I bought brand new years ago. I also happen to have an Aruba device in the same room and as soon as I unplugged that, I was able to connect via Ethernet and WI-FI. I also suspect my Xbox 360 is also receiving interference from the Aruba.
You were right on the money, absolutely wild. Like working with archaeotech. I took an tower panel from an old dell and dropped it infront of my ps3 as an impromptu radio wave shield. Worked in seconds. Thank you for the info, just the description gives people an idea.

This just happened to me today, at home, on my PS3 Super Slim. I was just logging on to buy some avatars from the PS3 store. I mainly play on my PS5, so my PS3 sees next to no use. The last time I used my PS3 to successfully buy avatars was back in November 2023. So weird that out of no where, it just won't connect online... Edit: Crisis averted. Reset my router and it's working again. Very weird but whatever. At least it worked!

Hey everyone, I also have a fat PS3 and Aruba APs in my household so I was experiencing the exact same thing shown here. So I did a bit of detective work and I managed to find a solution that works for me. The FIX: go into your Aruba settings and edit your ARM profiles (A & G radios) to disable "ARM over the air updates". After disabling it for both profiles my wired and wireless connections no longer drop/crash after a couple of minutes of working from a fresh bootup. Try it out if you have access to change the settings.
You can confirm it by bringing your PS3 to another location (perferbly less WiFi signals) to test it again. If your PS3 works in other locations, that means some WiFi signal in your home is crashing your PS3. It could be from your own router, or even from your neighbours.
This litteraly happens on my jailbroken 60gb cfw evilnat when i try to install stuff on PKGi it stops and when im logged in on psn i get randomly signs me out this error is pissing me off now
It is a router problem. In my case, it is the router from my neighbor which is so strong that it penetrates through multiple walls to my room and crashes my PS3.
Same my internet provider is Spectrum And the Wi-Fi provider at my nana’s house is Wind stream And I have a PS3 Phat (CECH-HL01) and a PS3 Slim (that has a broken disc Drive) and it’s a CECH-2001B
Go to a room without WiFi and try again. If you don't get 8001000A/80010201 anymore, that means one of the WiFi signal is crashing your PS3. Find out which WiFi signal is causing the problem.
Wow, this makes so much sense. I was wondering why my ps3 wouldn't connect to any wifi (including 2.4ghz hotspots) in my dorm. There's sure to be a ton of interference since I'm next to a hundred other rooms all with wifi access. The question now is how tf do I shielf my ps3 from the wifi signals?
Indeed. I tried building a makeshift Faraday cage using metal mesh sheet. It only reduces the strength of the WiFi a little bit. But still not enough for the PS3 network connection to work again.
Depending on the WiFi strength. in my case, the WiFi is so strong that it interferes with the PS3 even without the antenna. But you are right, the first thing to try is to unhook the antenna to see if it solves the problem.
From what I know, Sony FAT PS3 uses Wi-Fi class 802.11 b, which is known for its instability. But I am not an expert in wireless network, so I hope someone can provide more detail about this too.
Yes, I like wired connection too, that's why I started my video with the wired connection. But sadly, Wi-Fi signals are nearly everywhere these days. Even if you don't use Wi-Fi at home, your neighbor's Wi-Fi might leak into your home too.
The tricky part about Wi-Fi is that, even if I turned off all my Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi signal from other neighbors can still leaking into my home. That's why once the problem I describe in the video happens, it is quite troublesome to troubleshoot and solve. It's not like that you can break in neighbors' home and turn off all their Wi-Fi lol

@@hardwarerepair200 no . After the update went wrong I formatted the hard disk through windows disk partition wizard. Wiped the 80gb clean tried to install a new hard drive and PlayStation OS would not recognize the new one
Does this mean that my fat PS3’s Ethernet and wifi is damaged since it crashes so much? Is there any way to disable the wifi for the PS3? I got the CECH-L model
I don't think it is possible to disable the WiFi using the official firmware. By default, it is always on and listen to wireless signal even if you are using ethernet. I have a slim PS3, and I am having the same problem. It was working fine, and now it is not. Even bought a used one and it does the same thing. Even with Ethernet directly plugged in.
Check what kind of WiFi signals are in your room. Try to eliminate them as much as possible. This problem can be fixed by removing the problematic WiFi signal
I found a ps3 in my nephews old video game bin and decided to clean it up and update the firmware i noticed it wasnt connecting to the internet long story short i went ahead and tried to update via usb it got to about 50% then just stopped bow its stuck in a loop and i cant get it out and ive tried just about everything, i heard that i need to either replace the wifi/bt module or cmos battery im.gonna keep trying to see what happens i have a slim model so i cant replace it like the fat because it is intergrated into the mother board.

Your PS3 is probably still fine. You can bring it to another place or the house of your friends and try again. If it works in other places, and not your home, then you need to figure out which wireless signal is interfering with your PS3.
As I have mentioned in my video, the WiFi module is not the source of the problem. It is the WiFi in your room crashing your PS3. If you are living in a remote area, you can try turning off all your router WiFi and try again. However, if you have neighbors living close to you, their WiFi might also leak into your home. You need to ask them to turn off their WiFi to make sure there is no WiFi signal at all in your home before testing it.
Indeed. The worst thing it is that other people's Wi-Fi can leak into your home too. You can turn off your Wi-Fi, but you can't turn off other people's Wi-Fi.

I have a CECHE01 model doing the exact same thing. I don’t know what’s going on. I can’t check my ps3 slim model because it won’t even turn on right now. I think the power supply went bad on it. I am trying to do a full system restore to see if that fixes the problem.

True! I prioritize wired connections over wireless ones due to their reliability and trustworthiness. Despite the lack of scientific evidence linking WiFi to brain damage, I don't like to have a strong signal emitters in my home.
Hi man thank you very much now I understood the problem ; but I have one question when ps3 couldn’t find access point ( crashes ) is it always need to be restore to difualt setting even if I go to the right place with less WiFi signals or is it possible to connect to WiFi without restore , because right now I live in dormitory and I can’t move to some other place but trophies are very important to me and can’t connect to any WiFi right now , so that’s it I want to now play and get trophies and then when I go to the right place I sign in; because as you know if you restore ps3 default settings trophies will not save if you don’t sign in , thank you for your attention ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

Chances are, your PS3 is working fine, it is just crashed by some very strong WiFi signals. You can try turning off all your WiFi in your home and try again. But if you have neighbors living close to you, their WiFi might also leak into your home. In that case, you also need to tell your neighbors to turn off their WiFi so that you can test it out. You need a zero-WiFi environment in order to test your PS3 properly.
