You can also smash in the frame were the motor sits so it can go over the bar I have done it before and it was amazing

I did the same thing with my throttle. I wanted to keep the original grips.

The engine doesn’t want to fit on the front. How did you make that work?

Does the length of the intake manifold make any difference in tuning the engine? For instance, if you had to shorten it or shim it, how much would it affect the way it ran? Say I wanted to cut off the last bend and mount the carb at an angle, would that work?
@SouthernCustomCC

Yes, length does matter. I have cut off the manifold before the second bend before and it makes the manifold a ’short shot’ setup. Typically, there will be a slight decrease in response when the offsets are used. Your method would make the decrease of response that much less noticeable, but sometimes it may put the carb in a precarious place of the pedals path of travel. Thanks!

Eric Ellquist if you fab the front engine mount the carb will fit inside the frame...or buy a Aftermarket shortened hub.

Does the front suspension even really help much while riding?
@SouthernCustomCC
@SouthernCustomCC 2 года назад
I believe so. It takes a little bit of getting use to at high speeds, but it does soften road rides.

on a motorized bike, a rear star system is not needed; a torpedo-type hub is more appropriate. Simpler, cheaper, more practical

so just bought this bike, I want to throw a motor on it but I'm not sure how to go about it. how did you cut off that spacer and offset the intake? sorry for the questions I'm just not too mechanically inclined

Seth Campbell : Typically a dremel or a hacksaw. Just make sure the cuts are straight and cleaned afterwards. Hope it works out, and best of luck! Happy riding.

The front mount can be modified and the back mount simply reverse it to pull the engine in a tilt position and the carb will barely fit, you can also cut and grind the front mount and make a custom mount” to support using a u bolt” this will make it snug....you can also buy a custom shorter carb intake. I didn’t use it because it pointed the carb downward....after looking at this video I’m gonna install, the custom short intake, I want to use the stock air filter.....these bikes have 29 inch rims....low rpm when going up a hill can be a issue. Surface....mine runs 42 mph top speed and the engine is stock....these bikes are light and and all aluminum...and I weight 135 pounds. 42 mph is fast enough for me....I know I could go faster with some performance mods,

Why no disc in the rear ?
@SouthernCustomCC
@SouthernCustomCC 4 года назад
Thanks for watching and contributing! There is not a disk brake on the rear because the bike didn't come with one. Also, you will need a larger disk brake...like a 200 or larger...in order to have a motor sprocket and disk brake in the rear. Disk brakes are awesome, bit people don't always want to pay for the upgrade. 😎👍

The mongoose has got to be one of the worst bikes to convert” lots of fabrication needed. I had to cut the front mount off the front.The size of the mountain bikes frame tube, you had to engineer a make shift mount” without cutting the frame” the engine barely fit without turning the carburetor crooked to pass the frame....this will make the engine cooked and easy to pop chain. A jack shafts kit hits the tire and engine mount...I used a automobile pulley...it was thinner and didn’t hit the tire...this mod made the aftermarket jacks shaft kit. The CNC hub fit but you have to purchase a universal one to support a 1inch hub” make sure you make some type of way to keep the hub from spinning, or say good bye to your spokes ...I drilled and mad a hole” in the CNC sprocket kit....I drilled a hole through the hub and Sproket hub A torch will be needed to bend the exhaust” to clear the peddle.....get rid of that bike kick stands....the stock one breaks very easy. The stock sprocket kit blows...it will damage and weaken spokes, and not easy to mount it straight. Get a 415 chain. After all that....my mongoose is extremely dependent gas bike, and looks good.
