Ya I did a lot of research on the cheap braided lines. For instance Hercules braid and Reaction tackle braid are thicker than spider wire or power pro. I think there both hold the same weight as they say. But since the cheaper lines like Hercules are cheaper your not paying for the smaller diameter. So with braided line you pay for what you get.

great Videos! What load (drag) are you spooling the reels at? Say for 65 Lb & 120 Lb braid?

Avet reels are really heavy drag so 100id plus for pretty much most Avet reels if you're running 65 run really low drag all the time depending of the reel your useing because im in Australia so most of what we do is 80id for big fish and 100id . If your fishing for sharks off the beach with big tackle your better of with something like 120 to 200 all come down to what your doing and and how much line you need

We fo with as much of the drag as we can do with the type of reel first and then the weight class of the line and type ... mono we go the least amount of drag cause we don't want to warp their spools..

On mono we use barely enough to keep the spool from free spooling.. braid is the only one where we use drag more than 5lb easy..

Hi, I have been following your videos and really enjoy them, thank you very much. I have been using Power Pro braid for many many years but it is super expensive, I have to spool a bunch of reels with braid and have been thinking about testing the Hercules brand, fish mostly for Marlin and big Yellowfin tuna and wouldn't like loose big fish because of the line. I am thinking about using 150lbs and 130lbs, can you please comment on how all your clients are doing with these Hercules 100lbs and more? How are the lines holding up, would they be up to the task of marlin and Cow yellowfin? Thank You

Love your videos wish I could send my reel to get it spoold by you man I have a trynos 50 and 2000 meters of berkley whiplash which is thin for 100id its 0 28mm in diameter but its a pain to ship you should get some 150id or 200 and see how much it tacks to spool a avet 50 or 80 I promise you will need more then 2 spools for a 80

@@TeamHardLife land based shark fishing i yak baits 150-300 yards my spot has a 30 foot deep drop offs 300 yards off the beach full of oyster beds never broke off and I’ve had a shark run past a oyster bed and my braid got hung up in it only small cuts no strands sticking out or anything

i've purchased hercules 8 strand 60# braid. I can't achieve any knot strength. Palomar, bimini fail at less than 1/2 the stated line strength. Tied FG to 50# mono, hercules breaks at the FG Knot at 25 pounds. Not sure the application of a fishing line that when tied with a knot breaks at 1/2 the stated capacity. Very disappointed with hercules.

Wow thank you for that input that's one of the things we definitely love to test braids before we actually sell them you gotta realize too a lot of customers bring in the types of line that they want or that they purchase and these are things that definitely need to know and expect out of their lines when they do purchase them

I was wrong about the FG Knot. I tied it correctly but did not cinch fully, when properly cinched, the 60# braid breaks at 56# when dead lifting weight. However any type of knot Bimini, Palomar, Uni, Jam , No Name, doubled all break at less than 1/2 stated strength. I still use Hercules but tye mono to both ends so I can have knot strength. I only surf / pier fish the gulf a handful of days each year. So I cannot speak of durability. But be clear there is no terminal knot that doesn't cause Hercules to break at 1/2 stated strength . But since it's cheap, I buy it and FG knot mono leaders to both ends.

Well, I had a 4' shark run under the Pensacola pier a month ago and the line broke the moment it drug against the pylons. Lost 1/3 the spool which forced me to top shot with mono to keep fishing. When I got home, I relined the spool again. However, I have surf fished with this reel for 14 days. All day. Bait and weight mainly off Cape San Blas. No underwater structure just sand bars with fine sand. Not coarse like the east coast of Florida. After 14 days the line looked good. Small fibers showing but as said earlier, I m forced to top shot with mono. About 30 ft on this reel. I also have broken the top shot off several times a day during casting. I fish while on vacation since I live inland,30141, for me, Hercules works ok for small spools where I expect to constantly replace due to break offs , wind knots and tangles while my 3 girls fish. I also run a 9/0 for shore based shark fishing. I use 80# power pro for it. The 80# has been in service for 3 years for a total of 20 days fishing. The Hercules is expendable and regardless of condition, by spring I will reline 6 surf spring rods just because it's cheap line . I also use 2 conventional surf casters and well, I run the 30# suffix 832 over 15# mono. Until I blow up the spool, I never replace the suffix. Thanks for replying. I love your videos.
