I remember seeing them in concert in 1987, everyone was shocked when they learned their collab. This single have been number 1 in the top 50 for 8 months, an amazing record for these girls.

My mom was telling me how she went to their concert hidden from my grandparents and how she was grounded for months. She still says it was really worth getting grounded. “NO REGRETS, let it RAIN ON ME” is her motto till today!

When I was 20 years old, my boyfriend bought the cassette for our anniversary and we used to listen to this over and over :) we have been married for almost 35 years now

I remember when Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande guest starred on Knight Rider, they performed this song at the end of the episode. Much to the shock on Devon Miles' face, Michael joined them on stage as a precursor to the Hoff's music career.

the year was 1985. the two biggest stars had collaborated and the world was still excited about it. no one was more excited about this song than my wife. she was a huge fan of both gaga and grande. when this song was released my wife would always play it and make us dance together in the living room. our kids would make funny faces at us, but we still forced them to dance. my wife was diagnosed with cancer in 86. she died in 87. i would remember all the times she sang it to me and my kids. at her funeral we played this song 6 times and every time i would hear that iconic first note i would begin to bawl. i stopped listening to the radio for 4 years because i was scared of triggering a memory of her. 6 minutes ago was the first time that i listened to this song in 32 years. but instead of crying and mourning, this time i remembered all the happy memories we shared together. all the laughter and joy. my grandson told me that this song was remastered by both gaga and grandes granddaughters on may 22, which just so happens to be my wife’s birthday. she would have been 68. and i think that if she were still here, all she would’ve wanted for her birthday was one more dance in the living room.

back in the 80s there was a legend name Ariana Grande then she passed her vocal techniques to a singer name Mariah Carey that we all known to this day. Also there was a cup name after her @ starbucks. that year was a culture reset where oxford dictionary recognized the word " gag " / gagging derived from gaga's name.

Gaga said she got the idea for the song when she caught a late night showing of Flashdance two years before this song's release. She wrote it in an hour and then stuck it in a drawer worried it wouldn't connect with the club crowd. Apparently Ariana heard her humming the melody backstage at the '83 Grammys and convinced her to record it. The rest is history.

I read that Gaga wrote the remake of “I think we’re alone now” for Tiffany. You can hear the similarities between the two songs. Gaga was ahead of her time.

Oh man, instant nostalgia when that first note hit. My mom swears their 1987 concert here in Houston while on tour with George Michael (RIP) was even better than their Live Aid performance. That concert VHS recording never escaped me, neither did those mullets.

Oh my god, the first time I saw them was when they opened for NKOTB at Willow Grove Mall in 1988, right next to the JC Penney. I was just going to Benetton for a cute top to go with my acid washed jean jacket and I heard them jamming. Such a good song!

I remember that this song, together with Prince's "Darling Nikki" and Cyndi Lauper's "She Bop" (as well as 13 other songs, known as the "Sultry 16") was a major reason they introduced the Parental Advisory label. The sexual double entendre in the chorus was a major scandal back then, especially because in the late 70s, Ariana Grande was the star of the family friendly sitcom "That Victorious Show". It has been widely rumored that Rihanna's comeback smash hit "Umbrella", released 3 years later, was a response to "Rain on Me" having taken the Billboard Hot 100 number 1 spot for 7 weeks when her own single "Disturbia" was stuck at number 2 for exactly that period of time. That received a lot of media coverage back then and resulted in "Rain on Me", which hasn't been aired much in the 2 and a half years after its release and was almost certainly doomed to become an obscurity in history, getting a second coming and re-enteeing the charts, becoming the classic it is today. The irony is that this time "Rain on Me" was stuck on number 2 for 4 weeks during the astounding 11 week reign of "Umbrella" on the charts. I remembered renting the VHS of their Music Video from my local Blockbuster store because I don’t have MTV. They tried to pit Gaga and Ariana against each other during the mid-80s but both turned out to be supporters of each other and are still the Legendary Queens of POP.
