Here's another 80s remix, and this time it's Lewis Capaldi and his song Before You Go from 1986. And yes, my face swaps still leave room for improvement ;-)

Amazing! I heard this song on a trip to visit my Antaidh in Glasgow back in '85. Heard it on the radio for just a fleeting moment. I'm glad that I get to rediscover this song!

Remember Capaldi's performance in Birmingham back in 1988? I was there with my girlfriend and I remember it like it was yesterday. We started kissing while that song played and we made out later that night. We even played that song during our wedding in 1993 it was such a great moment that we both had tears of joy.. Now hearing this song here on youtube again made me nostalgic about my young years and I couldn't help but thinking about all the good memories associated with it. I sometimes wish I could relive those times not gonna lie. Today we're married with 3 children all whom attend secondary school. Jessica, if you see this comment I love you xoxoxo

How long does it take to compose a sophisticated song like this ? All the drums, synth, guitar, the afterwork with effects etc.

Thanks for asking! This one took about 2 weeks (at 2-3 hours per night, with a couple nights skipped per week). I’ve been composing my own music for nearly 30 years though (but not 80s stuff) so, although I’m still very much an amateur, I’ve learnt a few techniques over that time period.

@@isaacdynys6518 Good question! I usually start off with the acapella version of the song. I work out the BPM, then I work out a drum pattern. I normally try to listen to a couple of "real" 80s tunes beforehand for some inspiration. From there, it's essentially just working out chords that work, then mixing them together with a bass line. I have a few old synths & drum machines from the 80s and 90s (e.g. a DX7, TR707) plus a recent Korg synth, so I spend some time looking for the right sounds.

What's the instrument of the drums

Hi, thank you for asking! I used multiple instruments for the drums. The bass drum is from my Roland TR707, mixed with a bass drum from my Korg Kronos. The snare drum is also from the Korg Kronos, while the claps in the eighth bar is a Linn Drum sample. The hi-hats and all the other drum sounds are either from my Roland TR707 or from other samples I have lying around. I also put a gated effect on the bass drum and snare to give them a "punchy" effect.
