He didnt want an autograph from Gary Coleman . She was antagonizing him and calling a failed child star . The autograph was an act of mockery . Gary gets a bad rap . Gary worked hard as a security guard and would make lighthearted humor of his situation . Gary didnt deserve the ridicule he often got. This needs to be said !

He should have been very rich with a lot of his money invested. He would have been set to relax and do what he wanted, then getting a crappy job. Who would even be scared of him as a security guard? All kids need to be protected by everyone, that includes their parents. Even adults can get screwed out of their money from their money managers, etc. The only person you can really trust with your money is YOU. You should always be keeping track of where your money is going, rich or poor.If you’re poor, seeing where what little money you have is going and cutting out crap you really don’t NEED, can save money for things your really need to survive.

In 1978 Different Strokes debuted on NBC. By the 79/80 season every new Fall show on NBC had been cancelled by January so the networks success was depending almost entirely on Different Strokes plus a few other shows to carry it while new shows such as Hill Street Blues and Cheers were being developed. Gary Coleman was extremely instrumental in saving the network at that time. This is an amazing story and it's too bad Coleman didn't get a chance to write a book about it.

A lot of the issues for child entertainers occur after fame ends. Many can't adjust to a return to normal life as an adult. Others keep trying to be taken seriously as adult actors but find it impossible to breakthrough their former cutesy stereotype. The one's you mentioned continued to be famous and work in entertainment even in adulthood. Fame is an emotional drug so its understandable that once lost, many former child entertainers turn to drugs and alcohol to maintain that high.

I have to tell myself all the time that it wasn't my fault, that evil people do exist. All I can do now is be strong and when I see this happening now to do something about it. What has helped me is deep meditation, and the desire to better myself everyday. And you can believe that Karma has her little was of getting even. Now what I do believe what happens to these kids making this money and fame is there parents use their kids income up and not doing what's best for these kids. Once kids are grown they don't have a penny saved for any kind of future. I would never take from my kids, I don't care how much money they earn. Some of these crimes I would not classify as "serious." Paying 500K to get your kid into the University of Spoiled Children or an over .08 DWI for instance is not in the same category as rape or armed robbery.

@@lunicola Wasn't asking for moral support here. Can't a person be simply a nobody (if they choose) without someone else's fumbling psychological outlook. BTW, for a (nobody) I've done quite well with my limitations, better than many with far many more advantages. It's all in the challenge.

Funny how so many celebrities don’t get into rehab until they get arrested. I suspect if they hadn’t been caught, the would never have gone into rehab. They don’t regret using drugs, they regret getting caught, and are trying to mitigate damages when it comes to sentencing.

I would think many addicts don't go to rehab until some serious shit goes down. And why do you presume to know what someone you've never met regrets.

They have people telling them how wonderful they are all the time and nobody says no to them. Child actors bring in more money, many times, then their parents, so are they going to say no to the kid? I don't think so.
