I have to tell you how immensely helpful this tutorial was. I ordered custom decals for a special order. One in particular was for a lifetime achievement gift. These decals were giving me a terrible time and I was starting to really panic. Thank you! Thank you!!!
I’m just starting with fuseing, adding to my lamp working. I saw decals on line but wasn’t sold till I watched this video. Thank you so much for opening my eyes to a whole new technique!
That was so interesting. I now have the confidence to use decals. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. And you always have the most beautiful nails. Of course finding some of these decals is a challenge.
Susan you truly are wonderful at teaching!! 🙏 I am so thankful I have come across your videos!! I saw your very first live stream but I couldn’t send a message fast enough. You were there and by the time I finished typing you had signed off. I would be interested in subscribing to your Patreon page/account if you have one. I would like to support your artwork and teaching. Thank you and I pray your class today is a fun one!!
Hi Susan! I realize this was created last year, I have questions of course. 1) You mentioned painting on top of fused decals. What paint works and then fuse? No cap, right. 2) Can CBS Dichroic Powder be used after a decal has been fused? If so, what ramp? 3) Where did you get the barrel glue bails? Same for the earring bails? Thank you and thank you for taking the time to do THIS video and Share! Love it, learned SO much.
1. Use whatever paint you like. I prefer Kaiser Glass paints, Unique Glass Colors or Colors For Earth (in no particular order). They are each different so it would depend on what I want or need fir the outcome. Be sure the paint you use doesn’t need to be fused so high that it burns out the decal colors. 2. CBS Dichroic Powder could definitely be used and would be so pretty but be sure that the decal can withstand the temperature needed for the dichroic powder. The ramp would most likely depend on the glass and size of the project. And sometimes the decal needs a special fusing schedule. So I can’t answer that. 3. I get most of my bails from Aanraku.com. The flat bail was from EBay. It’s called a Spider Bail. (I believe both are in California)
Hi Susan, thank you for so many awesome educational videos, helps me a lot! Would you please tell me the butterfly decal from which website? Thank you!
Do you think it is possible to paint an image (with enamel paint) on a piece of clear glass, place the glass on top of another piece and then fuse the two pieces together successfully without the paint burning or running? (Using a microwave kiln) I have been bing watching your videos for two solid days and have just ordered a microwave kiln, I find your videos very informative and useful even though you are using a regular kiln :-)
I don’t. The ones you make on your printer are not very nice and don’t have color. To get color, you have to buy a very expensive machine. So it’s best to design it and have one of those companies print it for you.
I love these decals! I tried fusing 1 black decal on dichroic and it came out beautifully. I fused two others of the same brand on plain fused glass and they came out Matt finish. In a microwave kiln. Do you think I cooked them too much or too little?
I don’t use an annealing segment for my small jewelry pieces. Allowing my kiln to cool down naturally to room temperature is enough to anneal these small pieces.
