The 84-year-old man accused of shooting a Black teenager who went to the wrong house surrendered to police in Kansas city, Missouri, Tuesday. Ralph Yarl, 16, was trying to pick up his twin brothers from a friend's house, but went to the wrong address. Adriana Diaz reports.

An interview with the aunt says the boy knocked on 3 doors and that the third person told him to lay down and called police. Just terrifying after all the boy was going through, he couldn’t even get real help quickly from a neighbor at the very least.

It's unclear if anyone was home and/or awake at the first few houses he sought help from. A man from the next street was outside and also ran to Ralph when he heard him shout for help. I agree that this whole thing is terrifying. I'm glad that there were also caring people in that neighborhood.

In almost every case like this, there are details that emerge weeks later that completely change the tenor of the story. Oddly enough, the major networks don't bother with retractions. If the details of this case are as described, I feel TERRIBLE for this kid and his family. I hope he recovers well and is able to build a good life for himself.

Frankly, if I was old and scared, I think I'd get cameras and definitely a system where I could just talk through the doorbell camera. Honestly. This, to me, is the only thing that makes sense. Regardless of fault here. I had a grandmother in that exact same situation. Based on your comment, I assume that you were raised in a household with two parents present, since you obviously were taking a cheap jab at this boy’s family. So the question that I have for you is: If having two parents in the home is such an advantage, how is it that you, the product of that advantaged family structure, spend your time trolling grieving people and families? I’m sure that if your mom knew about your pass time, she would be very proud of you. Also, here is a prediction I will make: Assuming Ralph makes a full recovery, in ten years he will have graduated from college and be working in a professional position that he takes pride in, building a career that he and his mom, and all the people who know and love him can take pride in. The laws change every year, but one thing always stays the same you never shoot a individual just because they ring the wrong doorbell. You can't even shoot someone stealing your things Here. You can't shoot when someone's back is turned to run away either. So just by him getting the wrong house and getting shot is wrong and the old man does not need to own a lethal weapon.

I havent been fully following this case so i didnt know about this. But there is nothing that can be done to the 3 neighbors. You cant force someone to help someone just like you cant force someone to not help. It depends on that person if they physically/ emotionally can help in the situation or if they feel at risk of themselves also being shot or anything. Just like with having the good Samaritan law if you cause injury to the victim trying to help you cant be liable for it since you were trying to help in good faith.

Most people at least shout "Who is it?!" Also a courtesy (and I believe law in some, if not most places) to announce you have a weapon and will shoot. Absolutely horrific event. Really hope he makes a speedy and efficient recovery. It always hurts hearing about kids going through physical trauma. Living with injuries from a young age that very well could affect them for the rest of their lives... Hope no one takes this the wrong way, but 10PM does seem pretty late for a person his age to be out and about in my opinion.

My sister has definitely picked me up on her way home. Its silly to say if the oldest is out at x place, the other sibling is at y place, and the parents are home then the parents should waste gas to come back out instead of telling the oldest to get the youngest. Gas is expensive and there is no guarantee they are a 2 car household
