Ah RU-vid algorithm but it actually finds something useful. I looked into putting a 6r80 in my 90 bronco with the 351 after looking at the shift 6 kit. I'm going to enjoy installing one in the bronco after I do that to my ranger that's getting a little Cummins in

Glad it helped. Cummins in a Ranger would be nice! Another project I’m working on is a 460/520 and 6r80 in my 88 F350, using same cooler, EFI and quick 6…will post videos when I can

Yea but the Cummins I'm putting in is thier new 2.8 and idk if anyone has put that particular one in so it'll be a huge learning experience

Full Size Broncos are great tpo Build . I bought a used 87 and now have a long travel 4x4 on Kings A built 351full roller into a 408 with AFR;s fresh eaust EFI MAF Gears and Lockers Built trans and transfer caseand more. Great stereo / Broncos can br hardcore performers. Maybe see you in th4 dirt.

Very cool build. Could you tell or explain how you do the shift on the fly for the transfer case? I was going to replace the servo motor with manual linkage but if I could make the rotary dial or push buttons work, that would be better. Thanks

I used a window switch to control the motor up and down and LED’s to see what position it is in. The shift on the fly really only works from 2hi to 4hi. it’s not as simple as push a button or turn a dial because there is no computer to stop the motor when it gets to the desired position or gets the return signal from the desired position. I’m thinking of going back to a manual shift transfer case. A few companies are starting to make adapters for them now, or a manual shifter and removing the motor.

Did you have room on floor pan for the larger trans. Or did you have to use body lift?

Yes there is plenty of room in the transmission tunnel the bigger trans it came with a C6 no body lift 4” suspension only for tire clearance. Eventually made my own transmission mount in other video

I read the other comments any update on the fuel mileage? I’m trying to decide now, whether I keep the 351 add a better fuel injection and a 6r80 or do an LS/4L60 swap. Getting about 6.5mpg now and screaming at the speed limit with the C6

I can only gestimate but my milage has close to doubled from the carb/C6 it now has a 418W with trick-flow heads and a healthy cam and it still gets better than the carb/C6. Big tires are not good for has milage. But it about smiles per gallon. I’m not a fan of LS swaps on everything. I have a friend that does them occasionally. I would if it was a GM vehicle.

a 4L60 is 4 gears. Why not a AOD, AODE or a 4R70W, some say the 4R70W is a much better transmission

I have read some stuff that the quick 6 need a tps sensor, can you steal the tps reading off the holley sniper?

@@janetrays228 yes, I used US SHIFTs TPS adapter with the sniper…no issues

Do you have 4wd? If so how did you do it? What I mean is do you still have the stick to put it in 4wd to do you have a knob like the trucks do?

@@diddlebrittle the original speedometer doesn’t work(mechanical)the 6R80 is electrical output) but I get MPH from the US shift quick 6 controller. If I wanted to make it work they make an adapter. The original amp gauge doesn’t work it’s disconnected(amps through the dash is not a good idea, volts not so bad). The Holley sniper gives me a voltage read out. It also gives temp and rpm. I upgraded to the 3G ford alternator. oil,fuel, and temp original gauges all work. You can get other readouts with the Holley sniper, I just used what came with it…my first sniper install.

@@diddlebrittle yes the stock column shifter works PRND2… I just extended the arm on the stock 6R80 lever and connected the stock linkage if I put it in 2 it starts off in 2nd gear…I made/modified the bracket where it connects to the transmission…if you watch the 6R80 in 85 Bronco video I go over a few things on how it works…especially at about the 5-6 min mark for your question

Hey there. I have a 84 bronco that I rebuilt with a Holley sniper efi. Did you have any issues with pinging when cruising above 2500rpm? Currently trying to figure out how to fix it but even with 18° of timing sounds like a jar of marbles.

I don’t have any issues. I cruse it at about 85mph 2400 rpm. At first I used the wizard and let it learn, it was running a little rich. Then I had mad scientist motorsports sent me a base tune. Running a few years now no issues. It can be tweaked and get more out of it, but it’s still running good. Compression, fuel quality, timing, cam, altitude, piston and chamber design, Quench, Heat, air quality, head material, vehicle weight, Load…ect can have affect on engine pinging. There are a lot of people on sniper efi forums that are helpful. Holley sniper efi owners and tech on FB is a good group. You can play with it and make small changes to see what helps. Less timing and a little rich is usually safer. Or have it professionally tuned.

Does the Quick6 shift controller need inputs from efi? I want to run my with carb

Yes you can run a carb. It needs an input from a TPS to assist in proper shifting. US shift sells a TPS kit on their website, depending on the type of carb you have.. You can call them. I’ve spoken to them in the past and they are very helpful.

What trans adapter did you use? also how did the trans line up with you trans crossmember? have to lengthen or shorten driveshafts?

I used the performance automatic adapter and their converter adapter. I spaced my old crossmember but didn’t like it so I built my own. I will make a video showing the crossmember soon. I bought drive shafts( rear) is from PEM racing and front is from Tom Woods , they were the only one at the time that made adapter for the drive shaft to transfer case

4.56 would have been a good option also. I cruise it 85MPH and turn 2500rpm with the 4.11 If I was keeping the 351w stock stroke 4.56 or 4.88 would be a good option if pulling a trailer or off-roading more, but that is why I like the 6R80.

I can’t give an exact number yet because I have a mechanical speedo in the Bronco and the 6r80 out put is to an electrical speedo I can tell you it does make a huge difference better take off better cruise. Gas mileage has about doubled and better all around takeoff and cruise. Just hard to keep my foot out of it. Especially with the new 4.11 gear installed

With a 35” tire 3.55 gear and c6 70 MPH it turned about 2500rpm with 6r80same tire and gear at 70 is 1650 rpm. Just finished Upgrade to 4.11gear 70MPH at 1900 rpm.

@@nitrojoesgarage7818 thats pretty dang cool man im not gonna lie. Im planning on building my 4.9 but the e40d it about to bite it so i was looking at maybe getting a t5 to go with it. I found the small block ford to 6r80 stuff on google and didnt know if it was real or not. Im wanting to bore it 60 over and bump the compression to around 10:1. Im thinking the 6r80 will be the better option for it but im still thinking it over. Love the video man cant wait for more

@@adambecker1604 Thank You!!! this is why I make these videos… to help. I been thinking about getting the odometer and original speedometer tied in, so I can get the mpg and track miles driven. I will add a video when I do. I really like the 6r80 addition and the EFI. I won’t ever go back to carb and 3speed. I’m working on another project 88 F350 460(7.5L)/520 stroker with 6r80, work truck…will post videos when done. Thanks for watching!

In depends on the cam that is installed in the motor. In the mild 351W It was running an earlier stage 1 302 flat tappet cam, low rpm and good torque so the firing order was early 302(15426378). It now has a 418w with trick-flow heads and a hydraulic roller cam (13726548) and it is a beast!
