In ep 1, they showed the graffiti of the republic statue on a wall and beside it was written "welcome to the base closest to heaven", now u know what it means :'))

This is not explained in the anime so I think it's safe for you to know. Haruto, Anju, and Shin indeed have Imperial and/or "Royal" blood. Anju is actually Alba. Rare genetics made her eye become slightly blue instead of silver, that's why she and her mother are labeled "86" despite not being actual 86. Her mother is accused of having an affair with an 86 and was thrown out to the concentration camps with her, eventually dying. Anju herself received abuse from both Alba and 86, in particular, was carved the words "WHORE'S DAUGHTER" on her back by 86 with a knife. Shin has already stated that his parents were from the Empire (his race is Onyx-Pyrope), and Haruto himself is a Rubis, which is one of the races of the Empire as well.

Shin: Anju was finally able to cry. God that line is a stab in my heart. That hurt so much.

Shin's role as "Shinigami" changes when the members of the group say that they don't have so much concern about dying, they already knew, it changes when they know that Shin is going to be the last one, he will take them with him and bury them. They are only worried about for: Who is going to bury Shin?

If i gained a coin for every anime that Hiroyuki Sawano worked for that has a stoic, highly talented, male lead character in a war setting, with mech battles, that carries a bit of "prejudice commentary", who is also in a "impossible love" situation with a naive minded like female lead character i would have 2 coins. I know its not much but its weird that happened twice right?

In the battle scene when they show you images of the members of the squad with the fireworks they are showing you who are dying during that battle, then those who appear enjoying the fireworks are those who are dying in combat. 10:36

Her voice crack when Shin said "Will you remember us"... That's a powerful line ... It sounded like a goodbay

Unfortunately the Alba don't know the Legion's lifespan is longer than 2 years now. Their plan was to get all of the 86 killed just as legion's lifespan runs out. That way they won't have to fight, and won't have to deal with the persecution of the races.

I really want to see your reaction of 8th episode. Also a lot of later one's. IMO later the show gets EVEN better. And also ending is top tier too.

Wow im glad you caught it but Shin has to Read to Stay sane and distract himself from the voices and the guilt he feels its a major dig latter on in the story, loving the reactions tho.

The english dub is just as good in my opinion. Billy Kametz lent his legendary voice to play Shin. Most fans didn't know why the voice actor changed for the last two episodes of part 2, but we all know why now. Billy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and immediately left acting for treatment and to be with his family. The actor who replaced him does a great job while trying to fill such big shoes.

This is one of those anime's you can never skip the OP or ED! I personally love it whenever the ED comes on. It ties in so well to whatever was going on at the end of the episode!

Please do not break the uploading...do it everyday like till now... New episode... Its so fun to rewatch this masterpiece with you...

Upon re-watching it (kind of) with your reaction to it - and knowing what this show is going for in the long run - every episode makes me feel really sad. It's not often a show is that much better upon a 2nd viewing.

There is no where for the 86 to run to. At the center is the 85 districts which is surrounded by fortifications and mines, around that is the 86th district where combat takes place. It surrounds the 85 districts like a circle, and every direction outwards from there is swarming with Legion units. So the only directions the 86 can go is into mines, or swarms of killer robots.

The goddess looks good in black, no wonder.

The war start not too long ago. First batch soldier is the elder or adult, then after all adult die out they use children, but Republic think Legion will be gone in 2 year, you remember?

The reveal this episode was harsh, but they still haven't told her everything. :(

Like the hint at 11:03 around that time 4 white sky of course the shooting but when it’s stop it’s like showing the 4 people that die going to heaven Btw 3 people died at the start of the show and weeks and sometimes months go by between the show that’s why you will see some character die offscreen That’s why it’s important to see the intro to see who is going especially that heaven one and the one where shin is seeing the nature then seeing his teammates

Humans are..... unique? defective? amazing? smart? stupid? I don't know what word to use lol So I went through several reaction videos on several anime. Not just 86 but many. The difference in reactions are so different. It just shows that every one of us are very unique. I wanted to check everyone's reaction to the first ep of goblin slayer. Then I checked Tonya the evil, then sao, etc etc. Some people stopped watching some shows altogether, I saw Teddy here sometimes just look away from the screen, I've seen some people laugh and smile. I saw some people who didn't give a damn. However.... I believe that some...... unmentionable scenes when it happens, even though we all have different reactions, we agree its wrong even if some people smile. People dismiss people as "trash" if they laugh at something thats disturbing but its not like that. People react differently when they are uncomfortable. People smile and laught when they are anxious and just want to escape the subject entirely. This doesn't make them.... strange or disturbing. In fact, it pisses me off when people dismiss an individual based on one time of his life and it happened to have been recorded. I guess its just after seeing all these reactions, my perspective on things have changed.

btw... the dubs are much better. I like how they turned it into a joke when she tripped. "are you dropping by later for the festival?"
