Anju's backstory is not explicitly explained in the anime. Here's a paragraph from wiki that explains her circumstances more throughly, it does not contain any spoilers about parts you haven't seen in the anime. --- Due to her mixed Adularia (branch of Alba - Silver) and Celesta (Caerulea - Blue) blood, Anju was physically abused in the concentration camps by other Eighty-Six. During a conversation with Kurena in the showers, she reveals a derogatory inscription-"Whore's daughter"-carved into her back by her abusers. She grows her hair long to hide the scars.
I join the ranks. You forgot episode 6. I have to disagree about the shower scene. It's not a fanservice scene. So much story and context is telling in that scene that is not working like a fanservice.
Eh, it can be both. I don't know what the scene was missing from the LN, but it's not a conversation that was absolutely impossible to do anywhere outside of the shower.
@@tiocn the conversation/implication of the carving on Anju's back makes it necessary to be a scene where she is undressed, the shower scene worked for that, and if somebody saw something sexual in that scene I'd be kind of worried, because to me it felt very intimate and sad, the music and the colors all point to the emotional weight of the scene.
@@Haxler8 The shower scene worked, but let's be real the point is that there's so many ways to do this scene without having them stand in the shower. It's not on the watcher seeing anything sexual in the scene, it's the implication on why they decided to write this entire scene in the shower to begin with. You could literally rewrite this entire scene with the two of them standing alone in a room at night for the somber intimate feeling, have Anju change clothes taking of her jacket, and then the tattoo showing partially, cue conversation. It's that easy.
"Even if you know you're going to the gallows, you can choose how you're going to climb up there." Episode 7 is such a beautiful episode of the series. The talk at the end just hits you in the gut, especially after that Fireworks scene!
"self-awareness" is a very good word to describe 86. i remember when i first started it, i was concerned that it's going to be superficial and unrealistically heroic. but they actually managed to touch upon a lot (even the topics i didn't expect to see) and go actually deep into the topic, while also making the characters flash out. and it will only get better with futher episodes.
Guys Carson messed up the reactions of ep 8 with 9....Now he is so embarrassed that they both agreed to drop the show so that he don't have to upload it on RU-vid....and also the show was not making much views and money for them anyway 😢
@@ogami7661The thing I don't like about this two is the fact that, the series they don't like they just keep reacting to throw shit on the show, they start viewing just the "bad" aspects of the show and just talk about that, like in episode 14. Don't get me wrong they also recognize the good moments but they just like brush it off. If you don't like the show just say that you don't like it and drop it, not just keep watching it to throw shit at the show just to trigger people that actually like it. Same thing happened with blue lock, they hated the first cour just because it wasn't "realistic". My guy, it's an anime obviously it won't be 100% real. That's enough ranting ima stop watching these guys
