You people need to hop of DT’s nuts. I watched all three matches. Match 1, DT got a questionable win after being awarded for what appeared like a throw attempt by J’Den. Match 2, people were complaining the the refs need to let the wrestlers wrestle and not worry about wiping them down and stopping the match so much. Match 3, they don’t wipe it down as much and people complain that it’s rigged, despite J’Den taking multiple shot attempts while injured, getting a cradle push out, an actual injury where it’s clear hyperextension ON video and people crying saying he faked it, and bad shot attempts by DT. This was far from rigged. You people are some nut hugging fanboys. Wtf!!
Every time I watch this the amount of sweat coming off Cox , would make it impossible to wrestle him , Christ at one point he slid across the entire mat .
One of my teammates used to sweat like this and it just spread across the room. Eventually half the people in the wrestling room were covered in his sweat as people picked up his sweat in one spot and deposited some elsewhere haha.
Cox was playing possum a bit so slippery and once he showed he was injured Taylor almost became too aggressive and predictable cox is slick as it is with technique but he was so sweaty the mat was wet but man hats off for pulling it off regardless of the factors
@@darylc2799 I disagree. Taylor wasn't sweating as badly and the "surface" of Cox's skin was just about impossible to handle. For crying out load, he slid 1/2 way across the mat.
J'den Cox I believe is on course to evolving into the best wrestler pfp in the world. I firmly believe he wins gold in Tokyo 2021 and I'm sure he does to. That's why he is going 97kg to face the best sadulaev. He's at the peak of his career and on a mission to get the respect he so rightfully deserves. Keep evolving J'den don't get complacent during this pandemic. You're the man , the matrix , and the best.
I like how yall are more upset at J'Den for sweating then you are Taylor driving his leg down like that. He's got too much wrestling experience to pretend he didn't know what he was doing. Then he basically by not only disregarding him and holding up two but then to go on twitter and complain.
Reggie Glubber bullshit. Who doesn’t defend a single with their leg in front of them? You can see Taylor just driving his shoulder down into his knee. That motion doesn’t help bring him down. I think he got frustrated and tried to hurt him. Especially since he showed no remorse afterward and instead starts arguing for two, if you hurt some on accident your first reaction is to pause and see if their alright.
Tim Lamb I don’t know what you’re trying to say but Taylor very obviously not trying to finish that takedown. How does doing that help him secure the other leg. He literally lifted up the lower leg then drove his shoulder down into the knee. His goal was to hurt him because he was frustrated.
J'Den Cox was the clear victor, but this sort of referring is disgraceful to the sport. Clearly, there is a favorite in this match. It hurts me as a wrestling fan to see this sort of disrespect.
Cox is a gamer man! Love it! All heart for real. Pinned Snyder with the big lights on. Beat Taylor here banger up and hurt and countering for points against one of the best!
Man, I wished I wrestled that good when I injured my knee in a match. I lasted about an extra 100 seconds before he pinned me although I injured my knee trying to not get pinned.
Lol he didn't hurt his knee that bad. There was no ligament damage, meniscus, anything😂. It was never brought up again after this day and he went on to win a World Championship🤣
I don’t think the own shot part matters. The on his knees might but maybe because he was on his feet and ended down as he went out. That’s different than someone pushing you out as you were already down. I’d have to look up the rules. But we’d have to find the rules for the year this match was because they change frequently.
@@7mikepd Sorry I hurt your feelings....no..I am not sorry...hahaha. The judges, refs, coaches, that were matside and the rule book all disagree with you. But you know better....hahahaha.
I have been ref'ing for a lot of years now. The vet guy is right. Taylor lost that point by stepping out. Sometimes freestyle rules suck compared to folkstyle rules. But you know the rules when you walk out there. That's why they didn't challenge it. Name calling and stuff.. Folks need to disagree without being disagreeable. Where did you wrestle at Vet?
Tore my mcl got ripped right out my knee and had two shoulders dislocated wrestling, I know many with broken necks, collar bones, arms, and noses. That’s not including the sprains and jammed fingers and all of the other pain involved in just the training, you don’t wrestle without knowing you can be hurt at any time. I got a concussion my senior year that shattered my hand eye coordination. I was wrestling against a Bergan catholic stud from jersey and he illegally threw me on my head when I was winning 9-7 and chose bottom in the third. He beat me 20-10 after that because while I took my injury time I continued to wrestle because no wrestler quits. I was taken down 5 times and was nearly pinned. I was wrestling from pure muscle memory of 7 years of training . I didn’t get pinned and I medically defaulted to 6th. Cox inspires me with this match and it showcases the heart and will found in wrestlers everywhere
I get that Cox got injured. But Taylor was no more passive than Cox in the first period. And several times Cox was passive after the injury, especially the last 30 seconds, fleeing. And please wipe the sweat off the mat and the wrestler. Pretty terrible conclusion to a third match.
Jden cox your the meaning of real man and you made my eyes cry and heart feel real peace and love of lord love from persia iran respect to red shirt wrestler best of best but hassan yazdani it’s true chamenger the iran 74 Olympic gold medalist witch turn to wretling in 86kg . You to best of 86kg strong man of world ❤️❤️🇮🇷
amazing match tension were definitely at all time high. Im huge fan of DT and J Den cox. they both used off and on match intelligence to accomplish their goal as they should. Esp for the Spot they are wrestling for. DT purposely spike his knee/shin just as the whistle blow which all is fair in wrestling war and it was jden responsibility to continue wrestling passed the whistle. It was well timed and could potentially greatly increased his chance of winning. he even smartly attacked the weak leg. DT does not owe cox sympathy this is for world titles. Jden being genius used his DT tatic against him and and played into the injury in as much i do believe he was genuinely hurt at some level. he milked the clock and milked the stalling and avoiding of DT. Which is incredible smart to use the tactic and turn it into an opportunity to win yourself. DT began to give up and i wished he went balls to the wall with attacks. In the end JDen immaculate defense and allusiveness took the cake. He deserve the win. Excellent performance by both. I love where they both are now
Supra Beyond Burroughs is a 74kg wrestler, Cox has been at at least 86 for 5 years. This cycle he would have been at 97kg. I love Burroughs but they were never the same weight, Jden didn’t move away from him. Taylor did eventually move up although I’m really pretty sure it had more to do with outgrowing the 74 class and wanting to bump up to another Olympic weight.
Here we go the Taylor fan boys is out on the prowl. #1 overrated wrestler EVER!!!!! He could have be a 4 time champ but wasn’t, he could have beaten Burroughs but didn’t. By the way Burroughs 5 Taylor 0 ( that’s not an o that’s a freaking zero). Dake is like 260-0 against him and dominated. This young pup Cox was clearly a better athlete, mentally tougher, and more prepared. It only gets worse for the magician man. He’s lucky they added weights, because he would still be saying I should have made the team!!
David gives credit to Burroughs and Cox and Dake for making him the eventual world champion in 2018. You degrade Taylor because you imply he would not have made the team if they hadn't made more weights. Taylor's bracket he had to go through to win his world title was Savage. He had to wrestle Yazdani first and beat him, Yazdani came all the way back to get third. Taylor then had to beat every bad dude in the world after he beat the baddest.
Doug Dickason he wouldn’t have made the team if they didn’t add weights. He is mentioned in the same breath as guys like Snyder, Burroughs, Dake and that is simply not the case. He gets a ton of hype for a 2 time, 1 time champ. He has made one world team in the last, what 6 years. Not sure he deserves all the credit he gets.
Jamie Koering...I don’t think it’s jealousy, it’s more of an opinion based on facts, from a fan of wrestling. Plus if I was going to be jealous I would be pick the winner of the match ya? My overall point is I don’t think Cox gets the respect of the wrestling community, that others who aren’t as great do.
no disrespect to jden his performance was amazing but that was really generous officiating, on top of the fact that he had the entire mat lubricated and DT literally couldn't do anything
i can't believe j'den's US opponents are still falling for this hurt leg thing. he does this in big matches a lot. I think it really works at getting his opponent to underestimate him, and then he keeps scoring, and the ref has sympathy for how brave he's being so he allows him to stall without a penalty. He keeps going with act after the match so he doesn't get a reputation, but I'm 99% sure this is a close match strategy. I think it also allows for some time for his sweat to kick in. don't get me wrong i'm a j'den fan. i call this the awesome opossum.
I had a friend who would half ass wrestle, but look aggressive as hell. I called him "the master of bull shit". Difference here is he actually scores when you think he's wrestling half ass.
@@ryanjohnson1758 scoring points and awarded points are two different things. I never said I wasn't a J'den fan. And if you count the amount of times Taylor slipt in sweat that should have been dried up as shots, Taylor definitely took more shots.
I agree with TrusT Me OG. Bare minimum, *I believe the mats DEFINTELY should have been wiped down*. J'Den certainly displayed heart. Did David Taylor get 'jipped' or 'screwed'? Honestly maybe a little bit. Some things could have been done differently.
@@barefoot2737 Never depend on a ref to bail you out. They are not obligated to wipe the mat down. And they both were wrestling on the same surface so no advantage. Anyone that has wrestled before has wrestled a sweaty individual. You know how to wrestle through it...or you lose...and never get to that level.
4x Ohio State Champ, 4x NCAA Finalist, 2x NCAA Champion, Hodge Trophy Winner, World Champion..... You're Right he's had some tough breaks..... Come on Bro, sometimes you just get beat. Every domestic loss was to a World, Olympic Champ or Medalist. He had to grow to another level still. That's why the next year he beat Yazdani
0:50 "great official he reffed at the rio Olympic Games..." oh you mean that tournament where they found out refs were cheating for certain wrestlers.. no surprise then. He's a shit ref and I really hope he didn't have any favoritism in this match. I mean cmon they cleaned the mat in match 2 and the mat was a lot worse this time around.
I can't say this ref has favoritism for certain, but I remember him clearly as an outspoken fan for Jordan Oliver / OK st. at a PSU match. On a questionable call a PSU fan yelled for Jordan to sit down when he went to talk to the refs. With that, this ref yelled back "My bet is Jordan could kick your ass!" ... Got real awkward. Like you say the match seems a bit tainted against DT
Ref did a fair job. It is not a rule requirement to wipe a mat down when it gets sweaty. And both athletes had to deal with the same surface, so no advantage to either one.
@@darylc2799 and one backed up on his knees 5 ft and didnt get called for anything. While the other shot and slide out of bounds and lost a point. It looked like home cooking for JDen.
Ppl complaint about sweat act like these guys don’t train in the practice room with sweaty guys and sweaty mats. They don’t clean the mats after every drill. Sweat is a natural element of wrestling.
j- den clearly won that match! TO all the folkstyle freaks this is freestyle and the refs don't bail you out! He wrestled the whole time took shots and kept his lead scored points what else do u want him to do????
Gabe C honestly, refs bail you out way more in freestyle than folkstyle. I agree- J'den definitely won. But he did get some favorable reffing. Still, he deserved it because he wrestled a good match.
Aaron Leppert brother I could agree and disagree with you anymore! I say in no way does freestyle wrestling gets bail outs like folkstyle especially when a guy has a lead! what I mean by that is by calling to many stalling calls which makes a guy with a lead take a desperate shot or something!
Disagree , look at how many shots acid still took after the injury , and when either wrestler stepped out it was a push out, o don't know what this fleeing th mat bs
If you watch the second period closely, you see DT shooting almost exclusively at the right leg (the same leg that was injured). Kind of a dick move, but it also screwed him over because J'den did a pretty good job keeping that leg back and thus not giving DT any good shots.
Wooooow!!! Inspiring. Tho Taylor wasn't mean enough here. He let up the intensity. He patted cox on the back as of to say "wow, good on u for coming back, I'll take it easy on ya I feel bad" Should've been wayyyy more ruthless and mean from the getgo
For some reason, it felt like Taylor held back some after the injury like he didn't want to win that way. No offense to JC either as he didn't give up having heart. Maybe it was just me but I really feel like Taylor just didn't go for the kill.
Seriously? Maybe he milked it a bit at the end, but there was 100% an injury. The second he came down on the leg he reacted to the sharp pain in his leg. Right away.
Especially since his response to the injury was to hold up two and didn't even pause to see if the guy he just hurt was okay. I also lost a ton of respect just now.
jden cox should have gotten 2 passivity warnings during that match and the step out calls was BS against david taylor. David taylor should have won but he got screwed by officiating
