Today marks four months since we entered into a partnership with Kubota Tractor Corporation. In this video we use the land plane on the MX 5400 and the Land Pride Brush Hog on the Kubota BK 23S. I also talk about what has been most impressive so far in this relationship.

Hi Mike. I am from Ontario. Looked into a Kubota but salesman did not respond to my emails when asking questions, so I bought a Massey Ferguson. So far very happy.

I agree Kubota’s are great. I have an old HST1700 with a loader, snow blower, and flail mower, been a great machine. I also have a GF1800 mower. Went shopping this spring and stocks were low with all the pandemic buying. I ended up with a Kioti CK4010HST TLB. So far I’m impressed, the loader is plenty strong, filled full of stone and handles it with ease. Backhoe and loader very smooth, loader hydraulics could be a little quicker, but the controls are great. The one thing that I was surprised the most about, is the two pedal HST Controls. I have to say I prefer them to the treadle or rocker pedal. I enjoy your videos, maybe add a little Kioti action if you have a chance!

That Kubota still looks new. I like the Stihl products. Husqvarna weedwhackers kickass. The Bush-hog mows with authority! King-o-mower! Got snow in Colorado Springs. Nothing like smooth hydraulic controls! And quick reconfiguration ability. Nothing beats salesmanship and knowledgeable support....period.

Nice post, Mike! I have to agree that Kubota is a top notch brand. When I was looking, a little over a year ago, that MX was right and the top of my list. Ended up with a Massey 1755M because Kubota didn’t offer a cab...yet 😢...and they were/still employing a DPF. I could fix one of those problems in an L, but not the other. Had I known about the introduction of the MX cab version, it would’ve made that decision a LOT harder, though. All in all, I’m happy with my Massey, but as you pointed out, I probably would’ve been just as happy with the Kubota (if it had a cab! It’s cold in the winter blowing snow on that 700’ driveway) Keep up the great work, Morgan’s!

Hi, Mike.... Good to hear you guys got a good rain... wish we had that in the SF Bay Area... Since you like to hear how things are in various areas, you might be interested in our recent weather.... We had a significant heat wave over Labor Day weekend... 90° plus for three days or so... Today, were finally back to a more normal 60° trend... That's not really newsworthy, though... The really noticeable thing today is that the smoke from the area wildfires has circled back over the Bay with a vengeance.... Can't smell it where I am in the East Bay, but the higher concentrated layer of smoke makes it look like daybreak at 1:45 in the afternoon.... Good times ! ? ! Gary

What you love about Kubota is what most of us that bought RK hate about RK... the people, knowledge, and service (or lack thereof). I'm not a gambling man, but if I were to guess, I bet that played into the decision (at least somewhat) to part ways with RK. Don't get me wrong, the RK equipment itself is quite capable, but RK really needs to step up to the plate with their service side of things if they want to continue to play ball for the long term.

Just about any man Would be thrilled to have a shiny new Orange Kubota tractor. I know I would, I only wish I had enough land to justify buying one. I had some Stumps to pull and grading to do in my yard a few years ago so I bought a B21 Kubota backhoe bucket loader, Did all the work I had to do around my yard and then sold the machine for just about what I'd paid for it. I kept it for about 5 Years after I was actually through with it because it sure was handy to have but the weather was taking its toll on it so I reluctantly parted with it. It was a great machine.

A few years back, when I was thinking of buying a tractor, I found your channel and a few others. You were running a different brand at the time. But after watching a while and seeing what jobs each of you on the channels were using them for, I took the advice that the dealership--the quality of the dealer, and the relationship--was at least as important, if not more, than the brand. I ended up with a BX23S. Orange didn't have quite as much loader lift capacity as the Green brand, which had me leaning Green initially. But I got two different vibes when I visited the dealers near me. Green just wanted to sell me a tractor and move on to the next customer. Orange wanted to know how I intended to use it, how much property I have (which isn't much), and what I thought I might eventually want to use it for...long term plans, in terms of future attachments and such. In short, the guys at the Orange dealership wanted me to buy the right tractor for my needs, not just any tractor. I've been happy with the choice. And some of the credit for how I went about choosing I owe to you, so thanks.

Nice video, Mike. Great explanations and overview of the tractors you have and the relationship with Kubota. I'll have to say, I was immensely disappointed earlier this summer at one Kubota tractor store I visited. They didn't know much about their tractors on the lot and were not interested in "talking tractors" at all. They could tell you what they have and the price, but little more than that. If I were working as a salesman at a dealership (from a car dealership to a tractor dealership, to a tire dealership), in any downtime not with customers, I would be familiarizing myself with every feature, option, and benefit of what I was selling. I'd be reading brochures, checking forums, watching videos, and scrolling websites. The sales people at the dealership I visited knew less about their tractors than I did, and were less than helpful.

Interesting comments on Kubota hydraulics. I think some of the older compact tractors might have just picked off the shelf components (valves, pumps, etc.) so you get a functioning machine but not ideal controllability. My 2000 Kubota BHL has some quirks in the backhoe hydraulics that I bet they have fixed. Mike, you have a rare perspective having operated different brands of newer tractors. Also I like your respect for all compact tractor companies. The Korean and Japanese companies as well as John Deere are doing a nice job designing the modern compact tractor I'm sure they all offer good value. Having spent my career in heavy equipment, the thing that always stood out with customer feedback was dealer relationships. They goes a long way toward customer satisfaction for any product.

The Orchard area looks like a great place to fence off and have a couple of horses do the grazing. I don’t know if anyone in the family rides 🐴, but your trails would be an excellent place to ride horseback. Would love to have all those trails here in the Uk for my wife to ride our Exmoor Ponies 🐴and myself on the bike 🚲.

Good morning from MidMo! Chilly out. I watched most of the video from the screened porch but decided to finish up back inside. Starting to feel like fall out there. Kinda thinking about what deer season might be like, and the video list is starting to include successful hunts from 2019. Even sorta kinda seeing some tentative football on TV. 2020 is weird, but some things are trying to crawl back to something like normal. I bet the open ROPS on the smaller (lower, narrower, and shorter) tractor is a lot more agile on the trails. There’d be a lot less anxiety about catching the cab on one of the learners. When you get in the field, you might wish for the bigger cutter, but getting there would be less fun. But spending a little more time in the old orchard isn’t an entirely bad thing. Thanks for the discussion about the characteristics of the tractors and hitch. Your comment about needing to stop thinking was hilarious. Mike Morgan in a single phrase! There are always more things that we could do, and want to do, than we can do and should do. Some of these have to be prioritized later on, after the things we must do. My list includes some shed improvements, raising and graveling around the shed, running power and water to it, wiring the little cabin for electricity, putting two elevated blinds in, and maintaining a lot of fence. You can tell which one of those activities is both more urgent and less fun by which one I put last! Y’all have a good day!

Hey Mike I have a hauling business here in Nova Scotia and I haul a varity of tractors for cutomers. I agree with you about there being many great tractors out there. The only issue i have with tractors is I personally dont own one and I druel everytime i deliver one to customer. I hope to own one before my days are done, but for now i will live though you and TTWT.

Mike I enjoy all of your videos but to be honest I'm looking forward to your next wind storm so we can watch you cutting and skidding those big logs up out of the bottoms. Good day to all.

Yeah Mike, I think it’s a really good idea that you stop thinking about that cabin. LOL I liked the Kabotas. The two problems I had with them was the mower deck removal/install, (too complicated) and I wasn’t a big fan of the heel/toe operation of forward/reverse.

That old apple orchard would make a great spot for a little cabin or another deer stand!

You don't have to move the slope forward and lose the open space you gained. Moved the crest back for a more gentle slope for mowing. It appears you have room to do that.

We use Kubota tractors and implements exclusively on our farm (except for implements they don't carry like small square balers). They always work and our dealer is exceptional when it come to service and help. We won't use anything else.

I think you’re right about most modern tractors being pretty well designed and built, they’ve definitely come along way in the integration of the components is done really well now. My biggest problem is with company practices. And that’s where I kind of like Kabota more now. I’ve always been a diehard green fan, not for any legitimate reason other than it’s just what I’ve always loved. And I still do, but some company politics are really starting to bug me in the bigger tractor companies. On a big farm you’re paying three $400,000 a unit for some of these bigger tractors and now everything is electronically on it and there are hundreds of sensors on these things and all of a sudden you’re running and your tractor shut you down telling you you have air number blah blah blah and they don’t give you access to that software or manuals telling you what that is and you’re basically forced to go back to the dealer. If you have a huge combine in your 40 minutes from the dealer that’s an incredibly expensive trip and then to pay a mechanic to get in there and diagnose it and charge you thousands of dollars to replace a bearing that’s getting warmOr something stupid that’s an office sensor is pretty ridiculous. Part of farming and successful farming is knowing how to fix your own equipment because you can’t afford to Pay the dealers tens of thousands of dollars a year to do basic maintenance that you could do yourself, and it’s kind of like they’re just rigging the system we are forced to pay dealers to do all of your maintenance and repairs because it doesn’t tell you what’s really wrong it just gives you an error code and then you have to go to the dealer and pay for all that trip that downtime wait in line until they’re ready to get to you and so on plus the cost of that repair which they’re going to charge you a ton of money to replace the bearing, if they would just give you the code book you could know it was a bearing and you could buy it for 20 bucks and pull a few bolts off and swap it out yourself. I could understand if you had a maintenance. Or they provided maintenance for three years under warranty and all that but it’s just making the cost of owning a big tractor astronomical. It’s kind of late pick up trucks, they don’t advertise them often but there are $25,000 pick up trucks out there still in there just basic work horses, but what you see in the ads are the 60 and $70,000 trucks with custom leather dashboards and everything else that’s what they’re pushing on people. The problem is a few years ago they change the law to wear for some reason tractor companies are exempt because other companies aren’t allowed to do this, your car companies not allowed to withhold the codes and specs and all of that on you just to force you to have them serviced your truck or car but tractor companies are giving an exemption and they’re abusing it, and when farmers show up to their state legislature hearings to answer questions on it, it’s not the tractor companies even showing up, it’s lawyers from Apple and Google, And that tells me that this is a political control measure that a certain side of the political aisle likes to do to control and manipulate everything and they aren’t very pro farmer and would love to send these jobs overseas to other countries if they could and personally I think it’s pretty tyrannical and needs to be stopped and I’m very upset that some of the larger Treacher companies who are playing these games and even though I grew up loving them and being a huge fan of the brand as well as their products I have a serious problem with putting money into companies who are doing this to our farmers and intern our country, I think it’s wrong, I think it’s criminal, and I think it’s anti-American and tyrannical and I think it should be stopped and if politicians aren’t gonna do anything to stop it I think the consumer should so if I were to go out and buy right now, There’s a really really good chance that my equipment would be orange instead of another color. On another note, I agree about Kubota service. I don’t think they have perfect products all the time and I think they’ve had big imperfections in the past, but what I see from them as a company is a lot of redesign and they pay a whole lot of attention to their customers, it’s clear that they’re reading the emails and the messages from people and what they do and don’t like and they’re making changes accordingly which means their products going to continue to get better and improve and companies like that are priceless
