That affects folks from the middle more than the top and bottom. Only those with lots of assets benefit. The middle class gets hosed the worse. A small savings account is absolutely worthless now. Folks living day to day are hurt but they still live day to day.

People need to wake up to the fact the left is for no one but themselves and the wealthy who back them. If anything your government is closer to National Socialism than communism. Now back to my original point. You have a country which has always been happy. Your people are very homogeneous and your country is small in size, so it is easy to see someone on the other side of the country as your neighbor because of this. America does not have a single ethnic group and our country is huge. Folks in Northern Maine cannot easily identify with folks in Southern California and vice versa. So when you say to either, we are going to tax you heavily so we can give to your neighbors 5000 km away, it is like, yeah I don't like that idea. Socialism works at the family level, large social programs work at the community level, but a country as large as the US would end up just like all the other large countries that try large social safety nets. Your people are happy so you can afford large safety nets. The second things become difficult and people get angry, sharing what is scare will sound like a terrible idea. Enjoy it though, I have a feeling everyone's happiness and willingness to share is about to collapse over the next decade.

Not sure someone 81 years old can comment on the cost of college, I'm 66 and I paid $53 a credit hour back in the 70s and paid cash. our experience does not compare to todays cost of college when the government no longer subsidizes the colleges like they did 50 years ago.

Depending on factors it can explode like an ic engine (warm summer) or it might not even want to burn at all (sub zero winter). Never last more than a bit of hair on my arms....

How does no one see the interest rates drive the economy. If your a small business you should know when the interest rates dropped everyone from 1%ers to scrappers made more money. That tax cut you got as a small business didn’t even come close to how much more most small businesses made when the interest was at its low point.

Prices are up because diesel fuel is +5$ a gallon. Stop the global warming hoax and drill, refine oil and gas and we can reduce the cost of living increase private sector solution with strong profit and everything will straighten out.

Bring oil price down, cost of everything will come down

@ScrewdriverTUNING for sure interest rates are a big factor. Banks lending money at low rates to folks who couldn't pay it back put us all in a very bad place in 2008 so we have to be careful what we wish for. Again corporations feastng off the public for big profits and then we bail them out when things go bad.

Those forces are the same as why Mike is looking at 6 months and $15k to give his kid a couple of acres for a house. Taking a different metaphor and paraphrasing: the road to Venezuela is paved with good intentions. A side note. I’m tired of politicians taking about 10-year impacts just to confuse the cost:benefit ratio by making it sound big. $500 B in 10 years? Only $50 B per year against a trillion new debt each year???

CBC Montreal had a short video of it on the website - you might be able to still find it ? - pretty spectacular !

I suspect that even getting what they get now is unsustainable. Hard to envision a way to retract thought. Political suicide for anyone in government to willingly give up budget.

I think about this a lot and yesterday I bought diesel for $3.57 a gallon. To keep pace with inflation it should be over $7, so what's up with that?
