@OcDmn 5 лет назад

@KyussTheWalkingWorm
@KyussTheWalkingWorm 4 года назад
No. The lock is orders of magnitude heavier than the bullets. The transfer of momentum only wastes a small fraction of the energy. Also, "green tip" M855 is actually a terrible armor penetrator. The steel core is too soft to work like a traditional penetrator, and the lower velocity severely reduces its ability to damage hardened steel. High-velocity lead core rounds like M193 are actually far more effective against steel. Plenty of videos demonstrating this on youtube. Steel is very velocity-sensitive. Once the projectile starts going above 3100 fps the damage sustained by the metal increases dramatically. (ranges banning steel core ammo because of "target damage" are irrational. M193 and varminting loads chew the fuck out of targets, M855 does much less. Though the latter can still be a concern because it's a sparking hazard) If you wanna defeat steel, you got three options: AP rounds with a proper hardened penetrator, extremely high velocity rounds, or rounds large enough to deform it until failure. All three make a distinctly different kind of hole.

Consider how little time it has to move. You don't care about when it is swinging, the impact is happening from when the round hits to when the round stops or bounces off. That's not much more than 1/1000th of a second. The lock will move under a milimeter in this time.

7.62 nato AP is no slouch of a round especially if he is hand load it hot like he said. Thats damn impressive. If you are worried about destructive entry this is the lock for you!
@steampunkskunk3638
@steampunkskunk3638 5 лет назад
The issue is battery powered angle grinders exist. That chain and shackle are tough and would likely chew through an entire cutting blade (cost $1) but would last 1-2 mins tops. This is why most high security doors secured by a padlock have shields over the shackle and lock so you can't get a grinder in there.
@ScottKenny1978
@ScottKenny1978 5 лет назад
If someone is doing major league destructive entry, you need a lock capable of resisting detcord and other explosives. Not to mention I still think LPL and Bill are doing the lockbreaking wrong, should be smacking the top of the lock with the bullet. Locking lugs versus .45ACP, the .45 usually wins. And that's not counting those 400gr frangible breaching slugs they make for shotguns.
