Great video and explanation of your sump. I am about to design the internal baffles of my sump and your video was very helpful. I still have my plastic blue bio-balls. They normally are used in a trickle box set-up. I have another sump where I used them like you have them, but have an air pump in that chamber. I am also about to weld a metal frame. The tank I am working on is a 6ft tank that I put together.
Helluva lot more complicated filter than what I use on my 240 full of Rainbows and plants, loaches barbs and a few Danio's. I thought my 1200 gph pump seemed strong..plus I have mine in the tank as is the homemade filter. What I lose in a bit of room..I make up with no worry about leaks of anything. Your whole set looks great,Fish are beautys. You might get them to get along if you had more rock,or some kind of big root or stump. SO that fish can be out of the line of sight of the over dominant fish.
Hey mate, beautiful tank! You inspired me to buy and setup an african cichlid tank! It's 7 ft and is getting delivered and setup tomrrow. I'm in sutherland shire! Your mirrorball is beautiful, I'm going to get one! Love the granite from jindy!
Take the weir off and go with a straight down pipe and a second overflow downpipe. Put valves to adjust speeds. It will be quieter this way than having a weir
Hello, very nice tank, well built, good filtration just subscribed let see how at looks in the future, yr using the same filtration multi layers of poret matterm , this works our vey well, great job!
Hey Ryan, just wondering who built the tank, i've just gotten back into the hobby after a 10 year break, resealed my 4x2x2, modified the sump, but looking at getting a bigger tank, something around 6x3x3. Any info would be appreciated, love the tank!
Bioballs... I just don't get it. It fills very little purpose in any filtration. It might be good as a first settlement media. Just get some cheap pumice which will reduce nitrates in your tank and save you frequent water changes.
