"'Hope you found it interesting." Seriously dude?! No one ever talks about stands when setting up tanks. This video is pure gold!

I was thinking the same thing. And he made it look like anyone can do it. ( I'll let you know , because i need an aquarium stand for a 75 gallon aquarium It looks like I'm going to be building it myself 😕, my fish are a little nervous ..😲

Great video - thanks! Btw - never wear gloves at the table saw. Even a small thread can be caught up, and pull your hand into the blade. It's a big no no. I say this out of concern. Keep up the great work!

I used his method. Went a little overboard on support but well worth it. The stand holds 4 tanks, a discus tank, an angel tank, an misc tank, and a goldfish tank. It worked out sooo well!

Thanks for the Inspiration Joey! Ordered all of my timber ready to get the stand built in the next week or so, then I can order the biggest tank I’ve ever had! Finally back into the hobby and I couldn’t be more excited.

How I built my 8 foot long aquarium stand. Building a DIY aquarium stand is much easier than it seems. You just have to keep it simple and follow a few rules. My aquarium is 265 gallons. i never built an aquarium stand before. Needless to say, i could have started with something smaller. But I followed this video step by step and i Couldnt be more happy. Im so proud of the stand i built. Thanks to the guy in this video.

I used this as a base model for mine. 21 years old. Made it for a 70 gallon, yet im putting a 55 on top. (always plan ahead) Its 50 inches tall, 50 inches wide, and 24 inches deep. It wobbles on my carpet ever so SLIGHTLY, but it isnt twisted in any way. Im using 3/4 inch plywood on top, overkill, but planning ahead again lmao. The fence posts are flush with the stand, and it is perfectly level on top. Used over 120 screws in the frame alone. 4 in each fench post, when attaching those to the frame. I hope it holds, lmao it should. Thank you. Youre a powerful person

Hi, Excellant video, thank you. Only one recommendation. You wrapped only 4 sides out of 6 in 3/4 inch plywood, top, two sides and front, not the back or bottom. Whilst the 2 short sides are most important to supply a diagonal bracing vector, the rear is not wrapped in the 3/4 inch ply. (I can see the rear painted wall when you opened the doors at 9:47. ) For a static load, this looks perfectly fine and this stand is strong as heck, but if it should turn to a dynamic load for some reason (yes we get 3.0 tremors on the east coast too), I'm concerned the moving 350 gallons, 2,800 lbs+, may deteriorate the integrity of the lateral strength.... but you have the two short sides covered with the ply, which is more vulnerable to dynamic loads. This is a minor consideration unless you live in an earthquake prone environment. Thanks again, it is an excellent video I will use as a guideline for my future stand.

I would recommend gluing your frame with a quality wood glue as well as your screws. Titebond II is waterproof and food safe and produces a much stronger joint allowing no movement. Small movement can eventually weaken the frame.

Always awesome Joey. I am on my 5th coat now for a rack that is going to hold 5 20 gallons long used your more fotified method with 1 middle support since they are 36 inches long 3/4 inch shelves as well. Agree staining sucks especially outside in the summer and always let them dry on wood I learned not t use plastic wrap this time the hard way It sticks right to it and you can't get it off, but its only one side so I am sure it will be ok. Been going 2 1/2 weeks on my 4 coats amazing you can do 6 in that short of a time. I have 72+ pieces a dozen 2x4's plus 6 eight footers around the edges which won't hold the weight so roughly 9-10 thousand for my 1000 pounds of weight i suppose

I do use a cordless drill for some things. But when i am filming a huge build like this one, with multiple cameras running, etc... the last thing i need to worry about is a battery dying and completely stopping production because it was one extra thing i forgot to charge. I have enough to focus on.

This is a good video but I would recommend getting a plunge router. Get a bit set and you can make designs in the door. You can also get a router table. But good video. I need to build a stand for a 220 gallon tank that I plan to install in the wall. This process seems very easy. Maybe a weekend project. Material cost would be about $200. Better than paying $1400 for a prepaid stand. Great video!

Looks good!; going use a similar build this weekend. Like the simplicity of the design; no pain in the "arse" jointing. What was estimated cost and time (be good for summary notes)? Couple notes; Pre-washing with TSP or other would of gotten rid of fish eyes on the first coat. Birch plywood is a pain to stain; as it over absorbs; pay close attention to what would you use for base wood. Your technique only applies to birch; not pine and definitely not hard maple. Typically i;d hit it with a pre-stain conditioner so it didn't absorb so much stain and takes less coats.

Can you go into a little more detail about how to determine the holding capacity of a stand? Or is there a resource online you could recommend? I have a 46 gallon tank that I will eventually need to build a stand for, and my woodworking experience is all in construction, and I err on the side of over engineering but I've never calculated the capacity down as detailed as you did.
