Thank you for this. I recently acquired an Italian conversion 7.92 M91 Calvary Carbine, that is a spitting image of yours in this video. Mine does have some arabic painting on the sides of the buttstock. This video was more than informative.
On all my milsurps, to reuse/reload brass(get the most mileage as some of this is $$$) I use gas checked cast and alox lubed bullets, and now most importantly, Trail Boss powder. Sure it’s great for 100yds, maybe a bit more...no hunting, but the brass stress is much less, imperceptible brass flow, lower power, lower velocity, and pistol caliber recoil.
Interesting video, thanks for posting the info from the book. I've been shooting my 8mm TS with mild cast bullet loads for over 20 years, it's actually pretty accurate with the Lyman 323470 bullet. I don't think it's sensible to shoot them with full power or surplus ammo.
I hope you do a video on the magazine/clip or the wood block insert I tried a year ago to modify a 6.5 clip to work but no luck and gave up on it never even thought about a insert for a single shot
Koba i need your help We just got these rifles in Canada. there is two models the guy i buy from has the 1891/TS 24 and 1891 cavalry carbine. the TS is said to be poor to good condition but its $50 cheaper. the cavalry is in good-very good but $50 more. whats the better buy? i have watched all your videos and i like there is more options and features on the 24 but am i better off with a better looking gun?
AvtomatKalash74 thing is three places have the cavalry gun all look good and only one place with the 24ts I am just wondering if that place only got a few because of the condition and I might regret not getting one later.
The 91/24 TS carbines were cut down from rifles. Because the rifles used a specific type of rifling (called "gain twist"), they suffer from poor accuracy. There are TS carbines that were made from scratch that are wonderful, but I wouldn't buy a 91/24 if I were planning on ever shooting it.
I recently found one of these for 150 bucks. It needed cleaning up. Still it seems to be in decent condition. I have noticed that when it's not cocked there is a bit of play back and fourth with the bolt locked into the receiver. I do plan on checking headspace before I ever fire it. I'm just wondering if this is normal? Also the only markings on this thing is 7.9 marking on the sight and a 4 digit serial number stamped in the receiver and stock. The s is also stamped into the bolt handle. if anyone has any information on making the magazine block for single shot conversion I would love a link
