Jesus did anyone else notice at 2.40, that PA 707 nearly had an engine strike!

@2:10, behind the Vanguard, what a nice sale price. Round trip to the U.S for £111 on B.O.A.C? Sweet, and they hadn’t even seen Laker yet. Lol! @2:30, that Clipper 707 almost lost it after touchdown. Very nice dubbing . Lovely mix of birds. Nice find and an excellent vid.

Whats very interesting is how this period of time was just before the bigger widebody aircraft came along such as the b747, l1011, dc10 and a300

A real dose of airline nostalgia there, really enjoyed it. Back in 1965, my family and I went on a holiday to Malta, I was six years old at the time. We flew out on a BEA Vanguard returning on a BEA Comet 4B. My late father enjoyed taking pictures, and I have some lovely images taken by him at both London Airport as it was known then, and Luqa Malta. I eventually went on to enjoy a 30 year career in the airline industry, inspired by many visits to Heathrow. Happy days.

Absolutely excellent aviation film of LHR in the sixties! I joined the airline industry direct from school at 16 and was very fortunate to fly on most of the 707s/DC-8-63/DC9-32/51 plus the Swissair CV 990A Coronado and Comet 4B. Brilliant film!

It's a pity that the public viewing area was done away with. It used to be quite a relaxing day watching the aircraft.

Yes, absolutely. I often used to go there as a child to watch the aircraft. I think they probably closed it off due to security concerns.

Wonderful! Thank you for sharing these memories. The smell, sights, sounds and excitement of those days and of course just being able to see it all from the rooftop balconies. Happy days!

That PanAm 707 at about the 220 mark looked like it was really bouncing all over the place on the landing

Nice video. Interesting to see that KLM were using a DC8 on (presumably) the AMS-LHR route at 0.50. Nice to see the Vanguards and Viscounts again, aircraft that I enjoyed travelling on. Lots of Comets too, my least favourite jet aircraft to travel on. I remember SR using the Convair 990 on flights to LHR 0.58.

Wow, a one way trip down memory lane even though this was even before my parents were born... *before the 747 (which is now mostly retired) dominated long haul routes!*

Outstanding! You even filmed one of the original hangers (Fairey Aviation hangar, when the site was know as 'The Great West Aerodrome') from the 1930's! > 2:11 If you have anymore footage please upload.

Think it was a landing - and, yes, definitely something awry there.

I think this is from The Queen's Building. In those days, you could just about name every airline and get 'high' on the kerosene. 😁 Great video. Thank you for posting this. 👍
