8th of January - Scotty Stoneman, UCLA Folk Festival, 1963 

I really think Scotty Stonemans's version is one of the greatest things ever played by human hands.

The Battle of New Orleans was fought on the 8th day of January. Then Jimmy Driftwood wrote lyrics and called the song The Battle of New Orleans.

Thanks for posting this Jan. Do you have the rest of this workshop or any of Scott's other performances from this event? I guess he was still in the Bluegrass Champs at this time. Can't beat the tone he got out that Violin!
