Welcome to my RU-vid channel. One of my main areas of interest is salvaging and preserving important moments in the history of bluegrass music. This rather large undertaking includes digitizing historic concert footage and audio recordings , collecting eyewitness accounts by interviewing various people in the industry - artists, promoters, fans, sound engineers, teachers, luthiers etc. Over the last 30 years I’ve accumulated a substantial collection of VHS tapes of mostly bluegrass related content from countless different sources. These tapes are now deteriorating gradually and need to be salvaged. I share only footage/audio that is not available on the internet. If you would like to support my efforts you can do so by going to the link below and check out my Patreon page.

Jan, brother you are the KING of amazing and historical bluegrass videos. I know I don't speak for myself when I say thank you so much for everything you do.
I was lucky enough to see one of Johns earliest come back performances in early ‘92 at my first Bluegrass Festival ever because he hadn’t officially came back and wasn’t even scheduled or promoted to join them at the festival. Their other frontman (I think it might have been Lou Reid) was supposed to be performing with them. It was a magical moment for me at 18 and a young Canadian fan of bluegrass music. It was one of my first trip to the United States as well. Got a chance to talk to the entire band briefly over drinks. I was enthralled. They were such pro’s! Mr Starling even dedicated Through The Bottom Of The Glass to me for my birthday since it fell in the same weekend. A long time fan of his said they had never heard or seen Mr Starling do something like that for a fan. Warms my heart 😢
Jan, i just ran across this today, 5-18-24, thanks for posting. I don't remember hearing this great ensemble at the birchmere before. This is great! I loved everyone of these ole boys. Those were good times for bluegrass. How i miss it. Thanks, kt

I love how much fun the folks on The Porter Wagoner show had. What can I say about Mr. Bill Monroe that hasn't already been said? Thanks for this great post! I wish THIS were what was on TV these days.
So fortunate that this historic event was captured. This is as good as it gets! Every single one of these musicians has changed and influenced the course of bluegrass for generations to come.
@@JanJohanssonmusic It's OK to admit that you're too lazy to do any more than to simply upload video. I DID give you a like for that, but you're competing with more than a few uploads of SG. Pat yourself on the back, there's a good boy...
THAT IS THE REAL DEAL - -NO AMPLIFIERS - ANDRES SEGOVIA and DJANGO REINHARDT had no problem at all - - YOU HAVE TO JUST PLAY THE INSTRUMENT KNOWN AS THE GUITAR AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE -GOD BLESS -TONY RICE - AND NORMAN BLAKE -
