To be fair, the game was an early season game before much of the band was back on campus. With the full contingent, and hearing it live rather than on RU-vid, it's much different. I like the rendition with the solo trumpet before the rest of the band joins in.
They are the BEST...when I was in HS, we marched with them...they are the best my family was at Standford with the founding of the University...I am proud to be a member of the Standford Family...these people are TOPS...
Oh my. Stanford doesn’t gaf in the least about this discipline. I moved around some growing up, attending several schools. One of my worst embarrassments as a young person was being pushed onto a field like this with a tiny band without any skill whatsoever. Making the band run out like idiots into their start positions without any rigor or espirit de corps makes me embarrassed to watch. One could assume the university might be snobbish about this kind of thing. They should shut this down entirely rather than send their own students out for this embarrassment.
Aaron, you're obviously a USC homer considering you have a photo of someone in the USC band as your profile pic. Might even be you. The acoustics on this video are bad. But, I can tell you, in person, the Stanford band's rendition of the National Anthem is as moving a rendition of the piece as any I've ever heard. If you were take off your USC_colored glassed, you would probably agree.
The rendition is so moving you could hear a pin drop on the lawn..I was student at St Francis HS, and a drum major we marched once a year with the band on their field, for band day..moving, it was so beyond moving people stood in silence..my family has been associated with Stanford since the founding of the school, my Great Uncle Carried Mrs Stanford's Casket..I am proud to call myself a local boy and proud still to be a member of the Stanford family. I remember the bond fires as a kid and being taken there to see and stand with the students it was great..when my Great Aunt died she left a small fortune to Stanford, over $6 million and I am so glad she did..what that school has done, is remarkable, and I am gone I will leave money too to the school of medicine in my parents and my name to continue their work to find cures and help people..Love Stanford..
This was 2 weeks before school started, so this is only part of the band....and most of the band doesn't practice their instruments. Unless you have been part of the LSJUMB, you just won't understand them.
