I’ve been watching baseball since 1989. Grew up as an Orioles fan, and stayed with them through the good and bad. This is the first HR Derby I’ve ever gotten to watch live, and naturally I was rooting for Gunnar. So my friend and I are sitting on his couch talking about some nonsense before the derby started, when the girl starts singing the national anthem. We literally were in a loud and funny conversation, and it stopped us both in our tracks. It was so bad that his wife, who was in another room, could hear it and walked in out of curiosity and asked us if we were watching some video of a botched National Anthem on RU-vid. 😂 Wtf happened? This girl is touring with Alanis Morissette! So she clearly can sing. But my god, I genuinely felt so bad for her when it was happening. And I hate that she looked like she was about to cry when she finished. Yeah, it was awful. But I really do feel bad for her. I just hope she can sift through the hate she’s gonna get and keep doing her thing. It’s ok. We all have those bad days where we can’t perform I. Whatever area of specialty were in. Keep your head up young girl.

As someone who didnt care who won i thought this derby was kinda bad. Of course the anthem wasnt their fault. I just couldnt enjoy these guys struggling to barely hit 10 homeruns. These old guys shouldnt be throwing pitches if they cant even keep it in the zone.

The new rules killed the whole fun to the derby. I prefered the bracket style bc it brought a competitive edge to the derby.
