which hat will suit on indian men??? days are often sunny and hot over here, i consider going for panama. but wearing hat gives me butterfly in my stomach. how to overcome that.....will panama go well with dark brown skin?????
Douglas Mace I think hats are coming back again.I see some young people wearing panamas and other styles.Maybe it´s a fashion bluff but i wanna belive that in some ways tradition is re-born.
I like wearing my fedora every day. Hats are functional & practical & I've really taken to wearing a hat so much so that now I wouldn't even think of leaving for work without my fedora. It's a classic men's look & I encourage all men to consider making a hat part of their regular routine. On the weekend I usually wear my panama. It's a lighter & airy choice for here in Arizona especially in warm or hot weather. I think the has you're wearing is a trilby with the brim in the front snapped up.
I wore a bowler hat with a Halloween costume few years ago. Going for a Dr Jekyll look with a bowler hat. After examining myself in it, I thought it really brought out my inner gentleman. I experimented with my look by wearing a cheap costume quality hat. It really added a new element to my look and fast forward a few years I got a legit bowler hat for my birthday. Nothing feels better than going retro classic.
I own about 20 Trilbys and a dozen bowlers and wear one everyday. I was hooked on these two types about 7 years ago and every suit I own I have a hat that matches it perfectly.
it is in style. its just that most men DONT have style and rather, follow trends and such. i own 3 fedora style hats and I'm 20. i get compliments all the time when i wear it with the right outfit (fits well, matching color coordination etc.)
or a basic black or white tee. or a henley tee even. preferably with a short or long sleeve button down. sports coat and suit is optional. fedoras can be dressed up and dress down as long as you keep it safe with the colors and make sure your clothes fit properly. and you have to be confident.
What's even more sad is that you need the right face shape, most people especially younger today have that baby looking face while that 40s, and 50s look they have that masculine, handsome, sexy looking face back then.
I'm 53 years old and I began wearing a Tilley hat (please see the Tilley website) this past summer to keep the hot sun, and the rain off my head... and I wear it with confidence. I get a lot of looks and comments simply because most men will only wear baseball caps, but I've never received any criticism so far. Thank you for all your great advice, my confidence had been lost for far too many years.
I've been wearing fedoras with my suits for work in the winter time for 5 years now. Winter hats mess up my hair but these keep my head warm, if not my ears. Now everybody wears them. I use pomade instead of gel to keep my hair under control. Looking forward to the series!
About four years ago I started wearing a Fedora. Now I own seven of them. I am 6'5" and 225 lbs. I been told I wear them well. As I get compliments from the ladies. At bars I been told that I look like a musician. I may look the part, but unfortunately I not one. Thank you for posting this video! I have really enjoyed all your videos.
Yes, I agree...too small a hat for your facial type, I have no idea how tall you are so that's another issue to consider. Personally I like flat hats, I lke berets too, I wore a USN "dixie" cup for 20 years, not a very functional thing, but they did tell us in basic trng. if you fall over the side and have the dixie cup with you (not very likely) just keep it wet and wear it like "Giligan" and it will keep your head from burning up, never did figure out the functionality of a military Garrison cap, guess it does give a little warmth but will fly right off your head if there's much wind. Happy Hat Wearing!
I am 55 and lived my entire life in Texas and one of the few white guys not getting skin cancer cut off my head or face. I attribute this to wearing hats a lot off and on in my life. My brother never wore hats and my dad stopped after LBJ left the office. Both had skin cancers removed, it is pretty common for white guys down here, but I escaped it thanks to hats. BTW, JFK not wearing a hat at his inauguration is the reason American men tend not wear hats any more. People tease me about my long beard making me look Amish with the hat, but no one gives me a hard time about the hat, and women tend to love it. I have a Churchill Homburg, a navy Stetson Fedora, a gray Stetson Open Road, a nice Resistol cowboy hat, and a beat up Resistol cowboy hat with a rattlesnake band that I skinned myself for yard work and such. It keeps the sun off my face in the summer and my head warm in the winter. If you want to wear a hat, wear one. Just get one that fits, like the video says. The biggest key to wearing a hat is to make it fit your outfit. If you wear a nice hat like a fedora, open road, or homburg, then you have to be wearing nice clothes. If you wear a beat up hat, don't be wearing a suit.
Loved this! I wear a narrow brim fedora, myself. You're right. You have to wear it with confidence and I have a collection to coordinate with each of my suits. Frank Sinatra was famous for saying "Tilt your hat. Angles are attitudes." I was always taught to angle it so that the brim is slightly covering your weaker shooting eye. As always, thank you for another wonderful, informative video!
Caught this vid late, enjoyed it very much. I'm UK based, the fedora is essential to my everyday attire, especially when the weather's inclement. It's not common to see this type of head wear, but for rain, drizzle and snow, it's just the ticket along with a trusty over-coat - it's extremely stylish and practical. My hands are also free from awkwardness of carrying an umbrella, though that has it's own charm if I'm ever so inclined to carry instead. As I'm suited and booted most of the time, wearing 'best bib'n tucker' as we say here, a hat, which in my case is my fedora, is a natural accompaniment perfectly completing an outfit.
Antonio - Long time watcher here, love the vids. As a hat guy myself (2 Fedoras and 3 Trilbies) one thing that might be good to cover is storing and care of your lids. For instance, most people don't know NOT to lay a fedora with the brim side down as it will alter your brim style. Helpful info and thanks again.
I wear a Trilby style Fedora with a little bit oversized suit coat and I love it. I find it awful that men don't find this classy anymore, my father thinks that I look like a mobster and I don't really like that term. I love the older styles more than the modern looks of today. I'm still in my teens and every time I wear a cabby or a Fedora I'm told that I look like an old man. I am confident about what I wear so it doesn't bother me that much. To me, that just means that I dress more mature than I'm expected to wear.
Flatcaps are a more casual yet trendy option, useful for vest + shirt combos. It's a shame really that fedoras/trilbies are nowadays associated with neckbearded, overgrown manchildren who criticise religion whilst having an almost dogmatic devotion to a children's cartoon aimed at little girls.
Xanatos712 I completely understand and agree up to a point. A nice suit doesn't seem to be a problem today, except they aren't worn except by professionals. Add an overcoat or raincoat/trenchcoat, wingtip shoes, and a decent, matching, properly worn, medium brimmed Fedora and Bogart lives! If you dig Fedoras, dress to impress, and you can totally pull it off.
I've built a large collection of fedoras--not trilbies, the brims are 2 inches or more. And yes, I'm usually the only one wearing them, but sometimes I've seen older men wearing them too. I'd love to see you talk more about hats again.
What I've got in my picture here is a felt porkpie with a leather band that was on a western "gaucho" hat in Colorado. I re-steamed and shaped the brim to where it's a bit more western. Slightly up at the sides, angled down at the front and back. I like wearing it to musical gigs.
One of the nice things about being a middle age man is you pretty much can wear what ever you want. I love hats from the Stetson Cattleman, to the newsboy, to the bowler. People just dressed better in the late 1800s to 1930s.
I would say that the hat you're wearing is slightly to small in its circumference, meaning that it sits to high up on your head. But alas my knowledge in hat-fitting is limited. Maybe in a future video you could touch on how low or how high up a hat should sit one's head. Btw, thanks for the vids. I highly enjoy them.
Fedora hats are fashionably imposing, and not everyone can pull off wearing a hat these days, Im from Los Angeles, and I see tons of people wearing hats the wrong way, i always say the hat should always compliment your clothes. Never wear a cool fedora with a tap out shirt that's just tacky, never wear a fedora with basketball shorts, or jersey, go with a more casual sophisticated look. Always wear a fedora with the respect it deserves otherwise your just gonna look like an idiot. I'm not saying go out and buy fancy expensive clothes, you can do this on a budget and still look good with your fedora hat. Like Antonio said in the beginning of the video you gotta have confidence in wearing a fedora especially in this day in age, where us fedora enthusiast are being judged as being weird, creepy, hipster, try hards, and other names these haters like to call us..
Can you do a video on the etiquette of hat-wearing? Such as do you take it off when you enter a building? Do you leave it on the chair or the table? Also how about the "care-and-feeding" of hats, how to take care of them, store them, clean, that sorta thing.
+gschneyer Totally second the hat etiquette suggestion. Just started wearing a fedora i.e. need to get used to with the confidence ;-) and would like to know when to take it off and how to carry it when not on my head. Keep up the good work Antonio!
Shame that true style like this is shunned these days. Thugs will wander around with their brightly coloured track suits and snap backs, and think we look the clowns for dressing smart. The world upside-down.
That's a nice hat, but I think with this type of hat you would totally rock the look by having the color of the hat to be the same as your jacket. It also has that kind of dark green was traditionally a working men hat color, imagine cab driver's flat caps but with that color. For where I am living a Panama Hat would be great, cause it's really hot here!
ThePoll321 Panamas, Straw Fedoras, Tilleys, and Linen Caps are great options available to the man interested in wearing stylish headwear that serves the purpose of protection from the sun. Read more here: www.artofmanliness.com/2010/06/24/guide-to-summer-dressing-2/
+Real Men Real Style I'm not sure if somebody else already let you know about the reasons behind the lighter and darker colors of the western hats. The darker ones were made of felt or similar material and worn in the winter provide warmth by absorbing what heat they could. The lighter colored ones are generally made of a lighter material (Like straw or other grass-type material) to stay cool when worn in the hotter parts of the year.
I still wear hats like these all the time when I go to class. I'm only 20 and I always find it funny how all my classmates come with snapbacks but I'm there with my normal dress shirt and a fedora. Definitely makes you stand out of the crowd more
I don't wear hats, as I can't pull them off easily, but I do like to dress properly for classes. I try to present myself with pride on my campus. I'll wear a suit to class while my peers wear sweat pants and a t-shirt! College is a privilege and I want to make the most of it. I agree with you in that you stand out; many professors have complemented my style!
I wear a Western/Cowboy hat. I suit it because I have a long face with trimmed beard and I also dress sharp. You guessed it I am full of confidence, dressing like this makes me even more confident if that is possible. Thanx Antonio. Thought that I should mention that I am English.
Great video, I'm an evangelist in our church and I'm in a suit at least twice a week ( traditional two button sometimes three) mostly dark colors. I would really like to wear a hat but not sure what style I should go with. I really like the first one on your list. I just wished it was more popular. I also have a question, I use a handkerchief a lot while speaking, any tips on matching it to my suit? Thanks, Jeremy.
Antonio- Love all your videos and especially like the idea of bringing hats back. I recently purchased a hat, think indiana jones in a dark olive. Beautiful hat but when i do wear it most often I get the dreaded hat hair. Any tips to avoid this? Also an Indy hat would be close to a fedora?
An indy hat is a fedora, it was made by the costume designers to look like 30s style fedoras. Did you get the licensed indiana jones hat or an akubra federation IV?
Im live in South Africa Im going to swop my baseball cap for a one of the style hats you mentioned. My wife has about 10 hats similar to what you showed on the video I am going to start wearing from her collection
I love the fedora hat. Not to be confused by the trilby, as people nowadays tend to call those fedoras as well. I invested on a really good one and I love it! I'm curious about a porkpie hat.
I think the hat you tried is on in the video is a homburg with a pinched crown (called a "Lord's" hat). It looks like it's a size to small for you as well.
Hopefully this isn't a ridiculous question, but if you have a bowler hat, does it become a homburg if you indent the top? Conversely, if you have a homburg, does pushing the top out make it a bowler? I ask because I have a hat my grandpa used to own that looks like a bowler, but I'm not sure if I'm the one who's supposed to indent it to make it the correct "style," or if such hats have a fixed indentation and mine is permanently a bowler.
I actually bought myself a Pith Helmet the day I was accepted into a Bachelor of Arts degree at La Trobe University, in Melbourne, Australia. I graduated in December of 2016 with my Major being Archaeology and my Minor being in History.
I'm so glad that you finally brought out a video on hats, though I was wondering if you were gonna bring up hats like the flat cap, I found that they seem to work a bit better for guys in there 20s as opposed to the ones you've mention which i notice seem to worn but men in their 30s onwards..
Excellent content. I am partial to the panama and have it in white, tan and others. Changing the accent color can really change the tone based on where you re going.
theghostinasuit Personally, that look can be incredibly stylish if it is done right, but it can look very odd and awkward if not. I'd love for it to return in full force, but dressing really well is largely dead unless you're in a professional career. I've never liked refering to fedoras and other associated elements as gangster or mobster. This was standard contemporary mensware in the early 20th Century. Most men did it, just as most men commonly run about in shorts and t-shirts today.
*+theghostinasuit* _"[...] leather cloves [...]"_ Gloves made from leather? From what the heck else? My bether ones are handmade from moose leather without any lining, the 2nd best are made of calfskin with linig only for very cold winter days. As hats I own a black Fedora from Borsalino and a Panama from already forgotten...
Grandfather always wore a Stetson open road. Dad and my uncles wore fedoras in the 40’s and 50’s. I’ve worn cowboy hats since the 60’s. Started wearing Stetson Fedoras 20 years ago & still wearing them today.
I prefere the newsboy cap. Just make sure it isn't too large. I receive compliements daily by random people on the bus and street. Problem with hats is that you must always have a certain outfit to go with it or else you quickly look like a fool. ^^
Xirus5 Yes, but that was kind of the point. Hats are functional, but have been fashion oriented in modern times. A fedora is semi-formal like most business suits. A Homburg is formal, a top hat is extremely formal. I have many hats including a few Newsboys. I prefer tweeds to herringbone patterns. I have black, dark and light brown and a medium gray one. These are casual hats and don't look right If you dress up. Fedoras look best with suits, but the rules no longer apply, even though they were once very strict. That's probably why people didn't look like dopes. They knew how, where, when and with what a particular hat worked.
@ 8:00 Dark hats are formal/Dance, Straw = work (Ranch or farming) lighter hats are to wear in town "Trip into town" or in winter (Straw hats are too cold) Hope that clears things up :)
I agree. Narrow brim for town and wider brim for work. A tall crown to water the mount from a seep or flow and a low crown for ducking lintels and vehicle headliners.
I love the Fedora of the roaring twenties and I thing this hat had a lot of Power .the boater hat is one of my favorites if it is like the one Maurice Chevalier use to wear ,when singing .
Thanks for this wonderful video! I just got a Panama hat, which I love for the summer suit cool look. I would like a wool fedora, like the 1940's styles. Many cheap fedoras are available with the small brim, and I dont care for this. I also have a large head, so the more typical 1940's style fits me much better. I am still looking for a link to the hat company that you mention in the video. I would love to support her company, and get a decent fedora. Love your work on manly styles!
I wear hats in daily settings. Usually the Trilby is my goto. Recently I was given several more hats. This was exciting, now I'm trying to figure out what hat is appropriate or looks best for what outfit.
The hat you are wearing is a pinch-crown brim-up fedora. Fedoras can be worn brim up, down, or half and half. The crown is a “snap” crown, hence its versatility.
Thanks for promoting Satya's company, I funded her Kickstarter campaign. Really professional service from the ladies and the production quality was second to none!
I wear Australian wide brim hats made by Akubra. The brim is downturned which differentiates them from western hats. Really comfortable, Protects from the sun and rain. I think I am the only man in central Scotland who wears them
The cannon ball crease that William Boyd wore in the Hopalong films. I always liked the pilgrim farmer block or civilized Indian block; A 5 inch crown without any block and a flat 5 inch brim. Good to water the mount with, Hoss, or plow the prairie. The block and brim were a regional clue of the wearer.
People love fedora hats on the right person. Every time I wear mine which is almost daily. People compliment me on how much they love my hat and how they wish more men would wear them. You definitely need to be confident because you will generally be the only person wearing one in most situations.
I had to come here, just to make myself feel better about people. The amount of people who hate the fedora because some awkward nerds wear it is... unbelievable.
Yeah, but it can still be pulled off if you have the right look and attitude. Unfortunately fat nerds have ruined its image. I just wear a bowler or cowboy(I'm a southerner so I can still pull that off) hat when I wear a suit, it has less stigma.
Matt Henderson They are not wearing fedora's they are wearing Trilby's. It is because all of the idiots thinking they are fedora's which gave them a bad name.
Jim G I understand the frustration however, a Trilby is technically is a type of Fedora. A Hatter, Hat Maker or Milliner (Also terms that have varying and sometimes conflicting meanings depending on the source you refer to) might refer to it as a Fedora. A Trilby can also be referred to as a Crushed Fedora. It was invented several years after the Fedora to make it easier for men to get in and out of cars. I am wondering if it really matters that much. I prefer to call it a trilby so as to differentiate it from the traditional Fedora.
Jim G Some of them do indeed wear the traditional fedora, which is the reason for my previous comment. Most of them do wear trilbies, I agree, but that bothers me far less as I don't particularly like the trilby. I hope this has cleared it up.
I wear hats every day, on work and whenever i leave home. I first started due to bare necessity; i work outdoors in a place which is often dusty, dirty, plus often it's sunny or rainy, so hats were a natural go-to. Since then it's become my habit. I found that hiking hats and boonie hat style hats work best for me, and i think for many people. what i use is essentially a brimmed hat made of cotton, dark blue (another brown) with a wide brim made of 2 layers of thick cotton so its stiff and not flappy. It will take washing machine, dry within a day, retain it's shape, and i can flip the back of the brim up so it looks like a regular hat. it's a win in my book. One problem i have with classic hats in everyday use is the formality mishmash; i wear ordinary clothes, perhaps in a more traditional style but it looks traditional (say dark sweatpants instead of pants, sneekers instead of shoes, a sleeveless jacket and a shirt or t shirt underneath). if i wore a regular hat id look like a douche or one of those indie garage band members, but whith a cotton hat there is no issue, i just "copy" a traditional style but with more informal clothes. So i want to point any people wanting to go into hats to these kinds of hats, the boonie hat type hats. not all of them are military hats.
I love hats, so thank you for the video. The hat you’re wearing leaves too much space between the brim and your ears making it appear too small. If the circumference fits comfortably then I suggest you try a hat with a deeper well so it can rest lower. IMO... the flat cap, paperboy hat, English driving cap, etc... is my favorite though. So many different styles and the ability to dress it up or dress it down make it the most versatile. I love fedoras but the hipsters have ruined that hat and look for the next few years. Thanks hipsters!
That is a stingy brim fedora. It is a snap brim. Meaning the brim can be snapped up or down. For your face shape, I would suggest a fedora with a wider brim and worn with the front of the brim snapped down. Although you are not a hat guy, I think you could pull one off and look quite dashing! I have been wearing fedoras since I was in high school. I'm 55 years old now and still wear a hat almost dailey. I have many hats in different colors and styles. For most guys I would suggest steering clear of bright colors starting out. Grays, tans, browns, light olives, and black will compliment most suits and outfits.
I have tried all types of hats....and the one I keep coming back to is the Fedora. Especially the Frank Sinatra Series. All the hats listed here are grand. Cheers.
Real Men Real Style A great site to read up and make friend with hat collectors is www.thefedoralounge.com Now all vintage hats are $$$ and the same for some newer made ones. I been picking up different style of hats for a bit now . working on good collection of nicely aged but well cared for fedoras. the people over on Fedora forum can help point out how to buy has as well.. Sizing is very important. You need to know you hats size as putting out $50 to $200 for a hat that's the wrong size isn't good. wool felt vs Fur Felt vs straw. There many thing people need to know. the foum can help out
I have recently begun making my own clothes and have made a couple of newsboy hats. Ive gotten compliments when Ive worn them out and have even given a couple to friends and my doctor. I am looking to get a bowler very soon.
Hi, I bought a Flat Cap this winter from C&A, black color and I really like it. I wear it with with my black coat and sometimes with a black skinny leather jacket. I'm curious what's your opinion on the Flat Cap since you didn't mention it.
Hi Antonio, your videos are very informative. Thank you very much. I searched and don't see any video relating to dress shirts. I'm wondering if you can do one focusing on that topic. What colors are appropriate or not appropriate? I see more and more people wearing solid dark color shirts. When does stripes on a striped shirt become too bold? What message does different shirt style send, if any? Etc. Thank you.
Your hat is a Stetson Royal. It is the right size. The brim in front is supposed to be sloped down a bit with your finger and thumb shape it down in front. It makes the hat a lot better looking.
I love hats for style. I agree that they've lost their original purpose for most situations. Hats can also be a burden, much like clothes. So comfort is always a huge consideration. I don't wear much, simply because it impinges on my comfort. I think head ware is easily the best way people can increase their appeal. Some eye wear is awesome. But again I disdain discomfort. But for special occasions, I love wearing hats. As for the hat on your video, it's nice, but seems on the small side. But the style seems to fit you and your video personality. I think wearing classic style hats is too "stuffy" unless they're worn with more modern stylish "loose" clothing.
Top Hats have been given slightly different styles with Steampunk. Slapping a pair of welding goggles on them make for a formal yet sci-fi look. Mad Moxxi from the video game Borderlands 1 & 2 has given the Top Hat a different look as well. I have a Top Hat that I have placed a pair of welding goggles on along with an Ace & Jack of Spades tucked in the band along the side. Added feathers along the other side. What is quite strange while looking at my Top Hat. With the goggles on it. It actually reminds me of an old Model T Ford. The square front end with large round head lights. There are more uses for a Top Hat than Black Tie wear. As long as you have the taste for Steampunk & the confidence to pull it off. I've worn it out in public just as I have described without being at a Black Tie event. Most people actually liked seeing the look.
Ok i need help with this... I'd like to get a fedora but i don't know what it's wearable with? I know that it goes with a suit, but what other combinations can you wear it with? It would be perfect for winter as i have a slim black coat, but for summer i just don't know what to pair it with
A-TACS Arid/Urban (Desert) Organic Micropatern Operators Cap with tan Velcro American flag patch is what I wear. It has a spot for a name tape and IR patch but I haven't bought them yet.
Men's fashion is best when solidly rooted in pragmatism. Most of the hats are unapealing to me because they do not have a broad enough brim. The "western" hat may have a broad brim but the way it curls up is showy, and defeats the point.
i think the white and especially straw cowboy hats are worn during the warmer season and the dark felt/hide hats are worn during the colder season.." think" but people can wear whatever they want
Do you happen to have any videos along the lines of "10 classic mens suits" or "classic mens shoes". Basically videos that deal with mens wear that you probably would have seen in the 30s 40s and 50s. Thanks.
Regarding your hat Antonio (And I luv ya man,,,BUT) That hat looks like a bottle cap on you. Donate it. With the exception of baseball hats, most of the time, hats on men, especially men in their 20's and 30's, can't pull it off. It always looks contrived. Like an act or they are in a movie. Try hard and corny.
If you do get into wearing hats - make sure you also revive the customs that go along with them! I don't mean tipping your fedora like a greasy simp, but taking them off indoors, or when greeting someone new. Also keep them clean and carry a comb ;)
I'm all for people being themselves and presenting themselves any way they want, but there's something about the fedoras and trilbies running around that makes people look like they're trying to be something that they aren't, or that they're trying to bring back a time and place that never existed. Any man from the 40s or 50s would slap the hat off your head if he saw you wearing it indoors.
I think there is something to be said about the etiquette to wearing proper clothing. I'm a fan of Downton Abbey and if you watch the show they change their clothes about 5 times a day. Every outfit has their proper place and event. As I was watching a behind the scenes special on the show they talked about hats. The butler wore a Derby and the Lord wore a fancier Homburg. The etiquette specialist for the show said that a Lord would never wear a "lower class" hat such as the Bowler/Derby. But he also said that once you enter a building your hat must come off.
The hat does not come off when you enter a building if it is a public space. The hat comes off in a office, or when entering someones residence. Then again what do I know wearing hats? Not too much.
I wear homburgs almost exclusively. I wear a fedora if it is just around the neighborhood, and I have a silk top hat for white tie at the symphony or opera. When I'm doing yardwork, I wear a newsboy/cabbie cap as in my pic.
Real Men Real Style Homburg, not a trilby? But I thought the trilby was pinched in the front and the homburg wasn't... it looked more like a trilby to me. Confused.
Mr. Antonio, I haven't been able to listen to the podcast yet, (on my list for today). but I think a follow -up video on proper hat etiquette would be good as well, just my opinion.
I should point out that, in the modern day, the fedora has a rather unpleasant reputation as being worn by a certain category of sexist men known as Nice Guys (tm). It's a hat that I would avoid under any and all circumstances.
Real Men Real Style Actually, no. It's a different one, but still from My Little Pony. Most seem to call her Alula, though as far as I know, she has no official name. Basically, Nice Guys (tm) form friendships with women for the purpose of leveraging that friendship for sex. There's a bit more to it than that, but as you can understand, it's not at all a pleasant experience for the women in their lives. A friend of mine has had a few run ins with Nice Guys (tm) recently and, as a result, she's actually been considering changing the way she treats guys that she meets online in the hopes of making herself less appealling to Nice Guys (tm). The Geek Feminism Wiki has an excellent article on what's known as Nice Guy Syndrome. Fedoras are such common headgear among Nice Guys (tm) that there's a chart of Nice Guy Syndrome "levels" and one thing that's always mentioned is how many fedoras they own. There's also a mock magazine cover advertising articles that would be appealling to Nice Guys (tm) and it's called "The Fedora'd Gentleman."
CocoaNutCakery I've never heard of Nice Guys (tm) either. I hate to see something that normal people have and use co-opted by undesirable groups and ruined for everybody. In conclusion, unless these guys are pretty active in an area, I say wear the fedora (correctly) and keep them from ruining it.
Only people who spend extensive amounts of time involved in internet culture have a problem with fedoras. People who mostly interact in real life don't give a shit. SOURCE: I interact with people in real life.
Walter Thornburgh Or women that have interacted with Nice Guys (tm). And your Google+ profile screams Nice Guy (tm). You shouldn't argue against people if you're dead-set on proving their point. Oh, sorry. Source: My female friends.
