i thought the punch down fold would be great for me but once i got my cup i was only able to get it in using the half diamond fold. i highly recommend it for those with small openings!

I was getting so frustrated because all the videos showed the c fold method which didn't make sense to me, but I tried the triangle method and it worked the first try! Thank you so much.

✨✨I HOPE THIS HELPS✨✨ Having a small opening and inserting a menstrual cup has been a challenge but i havent given up. Being a virgin and never using tampons, only pads its a bit scary to put something inside. I've been hearing a lot that the punch down method is the smallest and best methods for first-timers but for me its Not. Yes the tip is small and went in without a fight but the rest of the cup is plumped/ rounded so I had a tough time trying to put the rest inside and i wasnt able to put it in; also it was causing me pain. I tried the diamond fold but it's difficult to keep it folded for me because I have a smaller cup which is more for 1st timers & sensitivity; with this cup there's more tension with the fold since its harder to grip it firmly causing my cup to come undone trying to insert it because of the tension u have to have a strong hold w the diamond fold because for me it always came undone when I try to insert it. I felt so deflated! I thought i was never going to be able to insert it. There's so many folds just keep trying different folds eventually you'll find a specific fold that works for you. I kept at it &I'm happy I did. ALSO I highly highly suggest to use a water-based lubricant it helped a lot trying to insert the cup. I suggest water-based lubricants because those don't harm your menstrual cup thus oil-based tend to destroy the Integrity of your menstrual cups. For me the fold which worked was the "7 Fold/ triangle fold). At first i thought uhh uhh NO it's too big but once I tried it it worked!!! I was able to insert it since it's a flatter fold than the punch fold. It worked, it did not stetch me out like the punch down tried to. I was able to insert @ 1st try w this fold but I still need lots of practice because I haven't mastered it yet but I will still keep on trying different methods as well. Dont give up girls. don't be intimidated by the folds just make sure to relax and be patient at first I wasn't relaxed and I wasn't patient and I ended up irritating myself & hurting a little bit causing pain. I suggest just practice when you're not on your period. Don't be in a rush relax breath turn on a candle while tour at it to relax yourself. And just Try a different method different folding methods because trust me there is a specific folding method that will work for you. Thank you so much for this video in showing us some good methods. When I first got my cup, I loved the half diamond because the point of insertion was so small. Now I use the c-fold bc nobody has time for all that!

A tip I’ve learned just from months of menstrual cup usage is that the same fold doesn’t always work at every stage of my period. A C-fold never seems to work when my period first starts, but as it gets heavier and I “open up” more, it becomes a LOT easier.

Almost every fold I have tried is painful for me even with lube😬 last period I finally found a fold that works perfectly (thanks to this video). It's painless and opens perfectly every time! It was the labia fold and it relieved me that my cup could be used without any pain. This period I must have accidently mixed the folds up and used the half diamond fold instead of labia (I don't know how I messed that up so bad) but it was awful. A lot of people swear by that fold but when I use it it always opens too early causing extreme pain and it always leaks for me because it never settles in the correct place. I watched the video back and realized my mistake of mixing up the folds. I will always use the labia fold considering that's what works for me. A little advice for beginners, if you experience any pain with a fold, please try a new one. If you can't find one that works for you look into water-based lube. Especially for beginners it helps a lot. I've had my cup for about 6 months now and I'm still making mistakes and getting used to it. Most of my friends got the hang of it after two months but for me it was about finding the right fold that didn't cause pain. If you're having this same issue try the labia fold. Again, if that doesn't work for you find one that will. I LOVE my cup even though I'm still learning how to use it according to my body and I still make mistakes. I've always hated how I felt in a pad and tampons were not only uncomfortable but they also never worked. A cup works and is comfortable when used correctly.

I just ended my cycle and got my menstrual cup in the mail. I got one because I saw a video on Facebook about them that sold me. It mentioned that (once you master the cup) you won't have to use tampons and pads again (right?). That and menstrual cups can last up to years. A couple years ago after first hearing about the menstrual cup, I was intimidated about its size and being in there. Though thinking about it now, if I have kids in the future, them being delivered would be a whole of a lot bigger than the cup going out! So I thought I should give it a try :) Got to wait for next month, I'm interested in the half-diamond fold.

I have had a Diva and currently use a Lena cup. My absolute favorite fold for both is the 7 fold. Fast, simple, works for me! I then rotate the cup fully to make sure everything is open. Thanks for showing all these folds! Learned some new things.

On my second month with the tulip valve cup, I'm still having trouble to insert and get it unfold inside. But one thing is for sure, I will never buy tampons again!!! What a liberation.

I didn't even know so many folds existed! I only knew the c-fold and the punch down, and those are the only ones I've ever tried. I used the c-fold for a really long time until I got a softer cup and I was having trouble with it opening so I tried the punch down and fell in love with it.

Today i used the menstrual cup for the 1st time. I tried for an hr literally but the cup wasnt going in and it was paining a lot! I then watched this video and tried out different folds. Some were going in but not opening properly and i could feel the kinks in there. My last try was labial fold which instantly popped open in one attempt without anypain! I'm really happy with it❤

I love the punch fold so much. It is easier then most of the folds. I recommend it. This is my first tume using a cup and the punch one was so easy was not painfull.

The Double 7 fold is perfect for soft cups that have a hard time “popping” open. I have the Lily Cup One & this fold was the only way I was able to get it to open.

Thank you for this video. It was extremely helpful. I was almost ready to give up after leaking during the night and finding that the cup wasn’t even full. I knew then that C fold method was no longer working for me. I tried the Punch Down method several times. I was so angry by then, but I refused to give up, I had to master this! First timer here! After reading the comments on this video, I tried the triangle fold first. It didn't go in, the size was a little big for the opening. Next I tried the classic punch down fold, it started to go in but it opened just before it fully got in and created the suction there, I had to break it then took it out again. Last, I tried the C- fold which surprisingly worked, but it didn't open :( for some reason I got scared when it didn't open so I took it out. I didn't get to try it again because the cup fell on the bathroom floor while I was taking it out :/ I wish to make it work next time, I will try it again 🥺

Am I the only one that hates the punch down fold? I find that when I insert my menstrual cup with that fold it just opens crooked inside 😂

I'm all about the triangle fold. I hold the fold down with my thumb, and then use my thumb to push the fold back up once the cup is inserted, basically in one motion.

If you're a beginner and have a small opening try using punch down fold. I was trying to do it for like the past 2 days but finally I was able to do it today. I would recommend sitting in squat position (it makes insertion easier, at least for me). Thanks for the video.

The E fold was actually the one that worked best for me! My cup is on the softer side and I am very tight so the other folds would not open for me. The E fold just really wants to open and I was able to get a pretty small point of insertion.

My favorite has always been the 7 fold. I never could get the push down or the c fold to work. I recently got a much smaller cup (meluna shorty) and the 7 wasn’t working for me anymore so I ended up doing the half diamond fold and that worked much better!

I'm a bit late to this video but THANKS FOR THIS. I got the Diva Cup recently and the only 2 folds it lists are the C fold (which is physically impossible for me) and the punch-down fold (which goes in fine but doesn't open properly and results in me leaking all over the place). I tried the triangle fold and actually felt the cup pop open this time! Yay!

The only fold that worked for me was the double punch down fold. it's quite similar to the half diamond fold as far as shape when folded, but the half diamond fold tends to open early for me, and since it has to open to a regular diamond fold Before it can open fully, I found it quite painful. The double punch down fold gave me more control of when it opened. it's actually very simple: start with a regular punch down fold, and then push the bottom inwards again, and pinch to keep folded. its kind of hard to explain, but it's not hard to figure out from the name. double punch down = punch down twice. hope this helps somebody

The C fold always caused leaking for me but thankfully for this great video I'm trying different folds like push down and 7 method. They work for me and I'm thrilled. The push down is absolutely perfect because you can push the side in and it pops open - love it!! Thanks for a great video :)))

I just tried the double diamond method and it opens up immediately! I had troubles with the push down method and the C method worked a bit better but i never thought the diamond one existed!

Some of the folds are so hard to do with ruby. Like the half diamond fold, since the cup is too thick to be folded that way

Listen... I don't mean to sound stupid but I've been doing the punch down fold and I don't have any problems getting it in, I can't get it to open!! Are you suppose to insert it punch down to the front or the back? (anterior /posterior) I tried inserting to the back and it felt like it popped open. It definitely did something different, but now I'm having some cramping? I also have never felt my cervix, so I'm assuming it's high. Also, even when I was inserting and it wasn't fully open (squished) at the bottom, it didn't leak at all.

i tried the punch down initially. I could get my cup in but not open. I can't get a c-fold in. the 7 fold works for me.

The 7 fold is what works for me, I like how I can make it narrowish at the base as well as the tip!

I have been looking at menstrual cups and if I get one I definitely want to try the half diamond fold!

I used to do the punch down, but the cups I use are super soft, because I have a very sensitive bladder. The punch down often did not open the cup very well, so I tried the half diamond fold, because I heard that folds that go outward are easier when handling very soft cups and for me that absolutely turned out to be true. Half diamond for me all the way.

I got my cup a month ago and used it only once during my period bc I was so nervous. Now it’s the second month and again decided to use a pad but this video made me wanna get up and use the cup😂hopefully tomorrow I have the balls to use it

So far the folds i've done and my reviews based on my own vagina: Punch down: great for beginners, formerly my favorite, doesn't hurt, but eventually doesn't open properly inside and gives me leaks C-folds: hurts at first but works for a while but it still leaked Triangle fold: hurts, i'm new to it, it doesn't leak and it opens well inside. Can't wait to try the other folds!

I started with the Moon Cup. Then switched to the Super Jenny a few years ago. I have both the large and small size Super Jenny's. I used the 7 fold, but I have a hard time using it with the smaller size cup cuz its walls are flimsier and dont pop open nicely. So Im shopping for new fold methods lol. I also bought 2 news brands that I have yet to try (June Cup and Dorsi Cup). Plus I got my nephew's girlfriend some cups and pads for a gift and Im looking for the best resources to help her use them. I'm going to suggest this video to her. Thanks!

I've only just started my period and I have a very small point of insertion. I haven't been able to get the cup fully in yet - so I'm going to try the half-diamond and / or the labia fold tomorrow. I'll keep you updated!

I use the Teen Saalt Cup, and it's easier than a tampon. I love it! Easy to take out and put put in.

My cup arrived today and I was almost about to give up trying to get it in😭 it just wouldn't. I tried the c fold initially, it was too big for me. Then i tried a few more, it was hard keeping the folds while inserting since I have a small cup. Finally I could get the 7 fold in, but... Once in, it wouldn't open😭 and it hurt while I tried to open it. So I gave up and took a break and went back to it after a while. And this time.. the punch down fold worked! And it opens!!😭😭 And I don't feel a thing inside me. So excited to use it during my next cycle.. :D finally I can be rid of those pads!

7/triangle fold are pretty much the same and its the fold i use and i have a really soft cup

Hey girls ! I struggled to find a fold that worked best for me but also with relaxing so just take depth breaths while inserting and it’ll work ! I successfully did it on try two and used half diamond/ push down ( kinda mixed up ) and when it was in a majority of the way in I was tensing up. So I told my self to breathe and bam ! It was up properly ✨ I made sure to check it if it was properly up there and open. Now onto removing ! I’ll update everyone tomorrow.

I was so devastated to not be able to get cups to work. Two years, hundreds of dollars, every fold, lube, position imaginable... I tried different sizes, different shapes, different softnesses, with or without stems, different times in my cycle... invariably one of two things happened 1. I couldn't feel the cup, but it was as effective as wearing nothing (leaked straight through), or 2. no leaking, but unbearable discomfort and pain.

My boyfriend bought me a menstrual cup as a gift, bc he knew I wanted one. That's gonna be the best gift ever! Period comes tommorow, i am excited.

I have two questions: 1. How deep am i supposed to insert the cup?(FYI I'm 23 and can't go much deeper) 2. How do I make out if a cup is fully opened once inside? And if it's not, how do I make sure it does? And thanks to the makers of this video and to the helpful comments, it helped me a lot!

Something that was a game changer for me that's never mentioned is using lube for insertion. We're inserting after we've cleaned ourselves up and wiped all moisture away. Adding a little water-based lube (in addition to trying different folds) allows me to insert smoothly and with control and avoid premature cup opening.
