9 Locomotive Train At Weird RR Crossing! Old B&O Signals, Trains Passing In Troy Ohio, CSX Trains

CSX Train With 9 Locomotives Passes Grain Train At Long Railroad Crossing In Troy, Ohio. Baltimore And Ohio Railroad Color Position Lights Still In Use! Includes 2 Trains In Tipp City, Ohio. These 4 Trains Are On The CSX Toledo Sub.
The first train is a grain train headed south toward Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. The grain train passes the ancient signals and takes the siding in Troy, Ohio. Ten minutes later a northbound train with 9 locomotives on the front approaches the railroad crossing. This is a locomotive power move. One of the locomotives is a commemorative spirit locomotive. This is " The Spirit Of Jaw Tooth " locomotive. Lol. I was on the wrong side of the locomotive but I put a picture in the video at 12:14 that shows the "spirit" writing on the side. It is only on one side. Scott told me about it that someone took a picture of it near Queensgate Yard. I wish I would have got the right side of the video. lol
Next, I put Lilly's goal from Troy in the video since it is the only one that I filmed. She got 5 in her last 5 games. We had 2 games on Saturday in Tipp City and 1 game on Sunday in Troy.
Then I went to Tipp City and got 2 more trains. I got a northbound at a railroad crossing that I have never filmed at before and then I got a southbound at the crossing next to the B&O signal. We also see one of my radios in the video.

Great video Brian. The second train 3rd engine number 402 had The Spirit of Jawtooth painted on the engineers side. Joey and I caught that train in canal Ridge that same morning. Pretty cool

The Tyler part comes from John Tyler, who was his VP running mate, who eventually became president when Harrison after one month in office. WH Harrison was a general who won the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811 against the Shawnee Indians, hence his nickname.

Its always cool seeing a train passing so close to the side of a building like that. In a pretty nice area too . If i lived in that house next to that siding , id be gauking at those signals all the time ! Im jealous ! But hey , if they still work well , I say keep them in service . Thanks again Brian . There was a battle against the Indians at the Tippecanoe and Wabash Rivers that then governor of Indiana Harrison won. When Harrison won the presidency, he gave an inauguration speech, during which he caught a cold, and then died 31 days later making John Tyler president.

What was the significance of Tippecanoe and Tyler Too? Its lyrics sang the praises of Whig Presidential candidate William Henry Harrison (the "hero of Tippecanoe") and John Tyler, his VP pick, while denigrating incumbent President Democrat Martin Van Buren. Then after Harrison, John Tyler became the President of the USA from 1841-1845. Interesting side not about Tyler; he was born in 1790. At the age of 70, in 1860, he fathered his last child, a boy. Tyler's grandson from this child recently passed away in 2021 at the age of 95.

Tippecanoe and Tyler Too refers to an 1840 song of the Whig Party. The Whip's presidential candidate was William Henry Harrison, the victor at the Battle of Tippecanoe against Native Americans in 1811. One of Harrison's nicknames was Ol' Tippecanoe, and John Tyler was his running mate for vice-president.

Yep, it worked too. They won. The problem was that "Tippecanoe" died a month after the inauguration, supposedly from pneumonia after delivering too long an inaugural address in the rain, and all we had left was "Tyler too". Phooey.

People will be looking high and low for the Spirit of Jaw Tooth. Plus with Lily playing excellent soccer that means more games for her in the tournament which gives you more time to find trains. That first train that took the siding was actually the farmer's friend having made a phosphate delivery. Several MOCX covered hoppers for Mosaic were.in there along with other leasers. Note how fast it cleared out as by the time the train it had passed you it was out of view. Trusting that those switchers are on a power move they frequently show up on videos working in Eastern Pennsylvania but especially the Buffalo NY area. It's refreshing to see someone rehabbing the old seed building and hopefully the old wooden sliding doors for the one freight car loading dock get to stay. Never a dull moment so a tip of the Hat to Tipp City and Troy

Jackpot!!! The train with all the switcher locomotives was awesome. While in the Navy, my ship was in the shipyard twice. The first was when I reported to it, and the second was a refit period post WestPac'84. The shipyard had a similar switcher painted in Battleship Gray. They would use it to shuffle gondolas around the shipyard. Some empty and others loaded with scrap metal. It was always interesting watching cars being shuffled around.

4:25 Ex-Chessie hopper -- you can just see the cat underneath the rust and grime. Ex-Seaboard System hopper at 7:35 and an ex-Family Lines a couple of cars after it. Not grain, by the way but phosphate fertilizer. You can tell by the white staining down most of the cars (and Class I's don't tend to run unit grain trains of old, beat-up PS4750 hoppers).

Was there a doll arm on that high+dwarf signal? There should have been one but the foliage covered it. For the uninitiated, a doll arm is a post (sometimes with a blue light) to indicate the high signal controls the next track over. The dwarf controls the siding to main switch and the high signal controls the main. This is the first.time I've seen one in Ohio.
