Here are 9 short classic novels ranging from the shortest-56 pages to the longest, which is 300 pages. Why 9? Why not 8 or 10? Because I am Chaos personified.
Also, it was supposed to be 10- I cut it down to 8 for time purposes, then in the middle of filming I changed my mind- added one but forgot the other! I guess it's one of fate's malicious and cruel pranks. It's all good though. I actually think it's funny.

The moment you said your favourite book is Monte Cristo and then recommended Flush, I just had to subscribe. My favourite books as well. Such a great list!!

I loved it when you pulled the little book out of the big book. 😂 And And Then There Were None was my first (and thus far my only) Christie book too. I liked it, although you basically had to suspend all disbelief, and you really couldn't solve the mystery until she revealed it. But still, good book. :)

Ok adding to my TBR… A Room with a View (you did not write that 😂) and Flush and The Death of Ivan Ilych (sounds so sad but like a really impactful read).

I always get mistaken for early 1900's authors (by myself)! 😂 I hope you enjoy them!

1200 pages? Ouch, defintely not wanting to read a 1200 page novel. Murder on the Orient Express was the first Agatha Christie novel I read - good novel, crazy ending :p I'm going to have to read Slaughterhouse Five, a lof of people are talking about it. Hah, I've said "written" too (coffee didn't help me either :p) Thanks for the shout-out - totally agree, felt bad seeing the woman fall into madness.

I have to add Murder on the Orient Express on my list. I haven't seen the movie, so I will be coming to it blind. I hope you enjoy Slaughterhouse Five!

Really amazing video. Flush was the namesake for my family dog growing up and one of my mum’s and later my favourite books, and A Room With A View is just incomparable. I love Forster so much and Maurice was such an important book for me when I was growing up. You’ve gained a new sub and if you don’t mind I’m going to share your video with some friends.

That's so cute. Flush is a GREAT name. That's great to hear about Forster, I will definitely be reading Maurice some time soon. Thanks!

@@hewhospeaksoftales It’s really awesome to see other younger people into classic literature, so many of the other book channels are all about YA or modern sci fi and fantasy and there’s nothing wrong with that but I love the classics and there’s a shortage of people speaking about these great books. Also, if you’re looking for some other short classics, Henry James’ Turn of the Screw is a great mystery, Death in Venice is a great proto-existentialist story and Orlando by Virginia Woolf is best described as a transgender semi-immortal Forrest Gump set in the 18th, 19th and early 20th century literary world, and that’s selling it short.

These are great recommendations! ‘A transgender semi-immortal Forrest Gump…’ is the best synopsis I’ve ever read of any book. I’ll definitely be reading that book soon. Thanks for these!

So glad you liked And Then There Were None. I definitely didn’t figure it out either. I just finished The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and loved it too. The only other Agatha I have read is Murder on the Orient express - it was ok but not a favorite.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd looks promising. It might be my next Murder Mystery. Thanks for the Agatha recs! Maybe one of these days I'll figure out whodunnit in an Agatha Christie Novel.

The Death of Ivan Ilych (the i is short like pill or mill or bill “ill-itch”) is such a wonderful book, Gerasim is a character that I think about a lot. Also, it’s great that you like Agatha Christie, despite being one of the most famous authors in history and IMO a peer of Conan Doyle her books often get a stereotype of being trash that you buy in an airport but I love her, especially her Tommy And Tuppence mysteries.

Gerasim is a real one. Definitely a character that sticks with you years after reading the book.
