Tiny little tip for checking your snake’s airways: my vet used a Q-tip SIDEWAYS and since then, that’s what I’ve used and it’s super easy to get them to open up wide and it’s cleaaaaan.

I thought some of these we’re normal until today… my bald python just passed away today while I was at work, I noticed that my snakes started to droll but she would always get dirt in her mouth and I would get it out for her, I had no clue that she was sick, I thought she was and wanted to go to a vet but no one around me takes reptiles… I’m so devastated, she was my first ever snake, I’m going to miss my poor Peril..

I think it would be helpful if you included pictures or clips to show what you are talking about like the mites,scalerot, stargazing ect.

For number seven snakes don’t have good eyesight so if they stare at something it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s sick but awesome video!

I have a 26 year old water python (liasis fuscus) named Dusa and he has just started to point his head up for longer periods of time. He has done this behaviour before but it was extremely short lived. Thinking I will take him to the vet to check if there is any underlying conditions. Thanks for the video.

I have a baby green tree python and I think he/she has mouth rot. I want to treat it but it's so small and there is no exotic vet. Also I have only had him for two weeks now. Any ideas?

my snake was perfectly fine yesterday with 0 signs but all of a sudden he started to wrapping around my hand super tight and not seem to lift up his head he was also out of his hide in the middle of the cage he was also moving around the cage a lot during the day he's temps were all fine and he had water in he's cage I was wording if this is sorting bad I'm already taking him to the vet I'm just wording what I should expect edit: he has passed away he was spider ball python and was three he got worse in about one day and then the vet put him down

I got two baby corn snakes in a 24 gal. MiMi, ate 3 pinkies, then later 1 and later again 1. MoMo, ate 2/3/3. She stays on the cold side. MoMo is more energetic and tends to go to the warm side more. MiMi is timid, whereas MoMo is more snippy. They are like polar opposites but I’m pretty sure MiMi is sick.

hi so I have a 2 year old female hognose snake and as I was about to feed her I saw she had a few patches of shed on her lower back that hadn't come off (her head had been completely shed so no worries there) so I showed her to my dad, she wasn't happy with either of us but it was feeding time (although she didnt really show signs of being hungry other than hissing a lot) so I put her back, she refused the mouse so I left it there for a while and after that I put a humid hide and tried to put her in (I've always had to put her in a humid hide bc she can never find them) but she didnt like being handled and threw herself back (like any hognose) and landed in her water bowel. I left her alone and dad said to try again, he has had years of experience with snakes so I trusted him, and while I was just sitting there with her in my hand she droooled a massive glob of completely clear liquid, I immediately put her down. there is no wheezing or bubbling, she just sat there for a while occasionally flicking her tongue when I moved. this is my first time having my OWN snake while my dad has had multiple but doesnt anymore, I'm freaked out and love her to death and feel so guilty in stressing her out like that, is there anything I can do? (I've left her alone in her cage) I am so scared if she breathed in water when she threw herself back and will develop a respiratory issue. I've looked everything up and a few articles say that throwing up is normal if they have swallowed too much water but I'm a very anxious and paranoid person. I own multiple other reptiles and I have witnessed my (and other ppls) bearded dragon drink too much and throw up but a dragon is much different than a snake, I feel terrible and feel I am a bad owner for making this mistake after keeping so many other reptiles.

I'm rehoming a Texas broadband and a guy said he had a snake die from lung worms.. I can't find anything online about lung worms. Mine is eating drinking and is very active and he's a yr an half old and doing great. We don't have a local vet that works with venomous snakes either so how would I know if he was sick or not..?

my snake became sick last December, now in june shes still sick. She first caught a respiratory infection, now my vet says she has IBD. I definitely will be getting a second opinion this Wednesday. I highly doubt is IBD but I still quarantined her though

My adult ball will make a loud wheezing sound. I have been told some balls will exhale loudly. It also has a wobble and it may be noise it makes in response to excitement or it's version of a hiss. There are many things that aren't covered in a lot of breeder videos.

My snake ate 2 pinkys yesterday, today I cleaned her tank. When I put her back in she went straight to the water and drank and after she sat there for a little and then had diarrhea. This video was made 2 years ago but I am searching for supportive answers or help so I fed my baby corn snake today just about 15 minutes ago he was perfectly fine before I fixed his tank up a bit before I gave him his food I put his food in the tank and then I put my snake towards his food he swallowed it from tail to head and after he was digesting it it took him a bit to digest (he has never done this before ) after he drank water and I’m not sure I changed his water but I changed it twice yesterday because of some stuff got into it he drank water and after a bit got some more shoving his whole bottom of his face in the water snakes don’t open their mouths and drink but he did I seen this and was concerned I began getting worried, after he was done he started slithering around his tank and he kept opening his mouth wide like super wide like he was choking I was super concerned, he ate his food drank water and was perfectly fine before now he is just in one spot moving his little head and opening his mouth then closing it there is a chance I can be overreacting please tell me! I have not enough money for the vet so any tips on what I should do would be very helpful please and thank you

My boa constrictor recently injured her face and I've been trying to care for it myself as I dont have money for a vet bill. The wound is pretty much superficial, but it was bleeding a bit when she first got it. My 6 month old florida kingsnake has been rubbing his head against whatever he can for the last 30 minutes. The glass of his enclosure, my hand and fingers when I handle him, substrate, literally anything. It started seemingly out of nowhere 30 minutes ago when I was just handling him like normal and he started gently poking his head into my fingers. Then gradually he pushed harder and harder and also started to turn his head upside down to press. I checked for mites, doesn't seem to be any. I'll do a mite cleansing just in case anyway. I read that it oculd be a respiratory infection or a stuck shed. He did shed a few days ago, but he didn't push his head into anything until just now. Is there a way to check for respiratory infection on my own or do I have to go to a vet for this? Should I be worried or am I overreacting to this behavior?

Hey guys. Just asking for community advice kind of: So, I could hear my snake breathing. Not particularly wheezing, just auditory breathing. So I took her to the vet, he did a VERY thorough exam, I was quite impressed by how long he looked at her and how many things he checked out. But his conclusion was, that she was a normal weight because “carpet pythons are noodly snakes anyway” but he examined her airways, her muscle tone, palpated her organs, took a thorough history, everything and everything was clear and everything was normal. Well, worried mom here, I’m constantly examining her because I still hear the breathing and I don’t know if it’s just my worrying but sometimes I think I can see her spine just a little, and now I can hear her twin sister breathing kind of the same. But she’s the same kind of snake and I don’t own another other than the two, and I check both of their airways for discharge, etc and they’re all clear. They eat perfect, they’re active. I feel like my vet looked at me like I was crazy when I said all that, like why am I worried. Should I be worried?

I had a corn snake years ago and past away during one of Chicago’s heat waves. Turned off the heat pad and kept the water bowl full throughout the day but it was not enough. Poor Red died from heat. I had no a/c back then. Is there anything else I could’ve done to prevent it?

I have a pitbull terrier that is very gentle and loving towards my snakes I take my snakes with me and my dog to the park and let the snakes crawl around on the ground my dog will fall asleep and then wake up and see the snakes aren’t where they were before When he fell asleep and go into a panic mode looking for them and making sure they’re all right it’s hilarious my boys like a protective mother

I found with my snakes 2 to 3 days after you feed them if you notice they haven’t took a shit put them in the bathtub with some cool water and let them go swimming though for sure they will take a shit works every time they just need to get in water and stretch and move the bodies around cool water is initial shock on the system to release all the funk inside

I got worried once my king snake started moving slow and not as squeezing on my hand I believe she is really relaxed for me tbh. I'll feed her today so if she eats then it's all right !!
